ORH YSOC BOOT CAMP 2018

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

Dear Friends,

The 2018 ORH YSOC Boot Camp was a great training time.  Three churches were represented in the camp, Friendship Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC; Emmanuel Baptist Church, Mechanicsburg, PA; and Fairfax Baptist Temple, Fairfax Station, VA.

Most of the 2018 graduates will be part of the Ukraine Medical Team in July 2018.  In order to travel with a medical team, teens participate in the boot camp training preparing them to productively participate.

Boot camp training includes physical training, first aid, CPR, survival, water safety, helicopter safety, stitching of wounds, shelter building, camp preparation, latrine sanitation, vital signs instruction, critical thinking challenges, food preparation, search and rescue, dental training, optometry training, and much more.

The Biblical emphasis for the week of training is “Spend and Be Spent.”  The completion of the week is the “Dog Tag Ceremony”.  In this special time. the graduates receive their ORH YSOC Boot Camp “Dog Tags” which represent dying to self and living in Christ.  Download the PDF to see the graduates receive their tags.

Pray for these young people who have worked hard to travel on the Ukraine Medical Team.  Pray for the missionaries in Mukachevo, Ukraine, Oleg and Lori Enskyy, where the Ukraine clinic will be conducted.  Pray for all the young people who attended the camp that they will be used of God in the lives they have chosen to live for Christ.

Operation Renewed Hope – Albania

Friday, June 15, 2018

Dear Friends,

It is always great to work with good people.  Michael and Jennifer Fiocchi of Baptist World Missions are two of the best.  Mike and his wife work in Albania and just spear-headed a major medical clinic into Kosovo with ORH.

Mike lead ORH to conduct a clinic in Laknas, Albania, where he founded a church.  He wrote me the following about a need in the church where the clinic was conducted.

“Hey Brother Jan thank you for coming to the Balkan states again.  Yesterday we had a challenging time in our service. Our church needs a miracle. Flora's double hip replacement might be what God will use to strengthen the faith of our young Laknas’ people. It is to be a testimony for years to come and as long as there are people the first of many to come!”

“Jan I hope that you are doing well. At church, we saw you tonight in the tv video. I challenged our young people to learn English and to have Jesus in their heart.  We started our first Wednesday night offering totally for Flora's operation. We will do this until she actually has it. Tonight's total was a little less than $15. I hope this encourages you. God bless!”

The follow-up to the Laknas’ clinic produced the following communication from Mike.  This communication is about 1 year old but nice to remember.

“Hey, had a great visit today with an old man that came to the clinic. We went through the plan of salvation. He started reading the verses with me. That's unbelievable. He had 3 years of school under communism.
Anyway, the doctor that saw him told him to be careful because he is headed for a stroke. Sure enough, he had a stroke.  Now, he walks with a cane.
After we went through the verses, he really seemed to understand. Then I asked him if he went to the preaching after seeing the doctor. He did, and he said that is where he prayed to receive Jesus! Unbelievable visit.”

Why the reminder?  God works in the hearts of people through good works.  ORH touches their hearts with good works; and then, we reach their souls with the Gospel of Christ.  Flora’s hip surgery is a good work and will cost $10,000.00.  ORH does not have that amount to send, but desires to help this good lady who has received Christ and has been faithful to the church there in Laknas.  If you can help her, ORH will send the money you give for this great need to the church for her.  Please pray for the church, Mike, and Flora.
