Peru and Lebanon

Saturday, April 22, 2017

Dear Friends,

PERU

Pastor Giorgio Romani is continuing the efforts for ORH in Peru.  He is attempting to be as frugal as possible.  Thank you for your donations to ORH for the Peru Relief flooding effort.  Operation Renewed Hope has enjoyed our labors with Pastor Giorgio and Brother Shapiama.

Please read the report below.

“Mr. Milton,  Once again I want to thank you for your encouragement, advice and support during our efforts to bring relief and the gospel to those suffering in Peru.  We know that what we have done is very little, but it is magnified and worth it all when we hear of the souls coming to know Him as Savior.

As a church and ministry we are planning  two more trips, one two Lambayeque and another one to Piura.  These trips are not improvised, they have been part of our goals for the past 3 weeks.

We decided to wait a little while for these trips, because we wanted to focus on the ones we had at hand. We have been trying to do our research and we have finally selected the ministries and local pastors with whom we will be working.

Both areas are in northern Peru, and we will have to fly there.

The first trip- Lambayeque- is scheduled for the last week of April.

Our goal is to raise 4000.00 soles ( aprox. 1300.00 USD).  We will be helping two ministries/ pastors that have suffered the consequences of the floods. Both pastors have expressed the need they have for mattresses, blankets, shoes, clothing, and basic toiletries more than food.

One of the churches is in need of chairs and a pulpit and we are planning to help with that as the Lord provides.

The second trip- Piura- is schedule for the second week of May.

Piura is the region that has been most affected in Peru. Our goal is to raise 10000.00 soles (aprox. 3200.00 USD).

Their situation is very similar to those in Lambayeque and the needs they have expressed are alike. The main difference is that their church buildings are inhabitable. This is why the cost is higher. One of the church buildings has been completely destroyed and we are planning to give them a significant portion of the amount raised in order to help them with the initial process of rebuilding. The other church was flooded, but it is a rental; the sad part is that most of the church belongings that were placed on the roof top for safety were stolen.

Both pastors in these areas have suffered material lost, but praise the Lord their homes are still standing and they were able to save most of their belongings.

I hope this information helps. If you need more information please let me know. God bless, Dr. Giorgio Romani, Gal 2:20”

Peru Flooding Update

Friday, April 14, 2017

Dear Friends,

The relief work continues to go forward, but will be held up for Easter weekend so the churches may rest and rejoice in the Resurrection of Christ.  The work should begin again on the Monday after Easter.  Read the latest update from Pastor Giorgio and download the pdf of pictures.

“Mr. Milton,  Yesterday we came back to Huarmey with over 200 packages of food and basic toiletries! We had planned on 150, but the Lord once again showed us His abundant love, mercy and provision.

In the midst of all the suffering and turmoil that we have seen the Lord has allowed us to portray His love through donations, physical help, but He has mainly open a door for us to share the gospel with hundreds.

It is very hard to see the suffering of those who have lost their homes and earthly goods but it is so magnificent to see and hear of the many that have come to the knowledge of Him. It was very encouraging to hear the testimony of the Pastor that we have worked with in Huarmey. He told us that last Sunday, after our first trip there,  they had over 100 people at their church service ( something that had not happened before) and that he is being invited to share the Word at differen

t communities where the help was brought. He asked me to express his gratitude towards everyone who is helping and contributing. He wants us all to be reminded that the labor and sacrifice for our
Lord is not in vain.

Praise the Lord!

We have two more trips coming up to the north of Peru ( Lambayeque y Piura). Please keep praying for us, for the many that are suffering and mainly for many to come to the knowledge of Him. Giorgio Romani   Gal 2:20"

Peru Flood Update

Thursday, April 6, 2017

Dear Friends,

Please read the update from Pastor Giorgio Romani about the continuing work with the floods in Peru.  He needs our help as he reaches people with the gospel and physical help.  Also, please download the attachment to see the work.

“Yesterday we came back from Huarmey, Peru , 5 hours north of us. This area has been severely affected by the mudslides and floods. We want to thank everyone who helped bringing donations, preparing the packages, praying, and contributing financially. The need is great and it is encouraging to see the benevolence and love of many of you towards those who are suffering.

Our hearts were full of joy as we were able to share the gospel with hundreds and we were blessed with the opportunity to help more than 256 families with clothing, food, and basic toiletries.

Despise the joy we felt, we were also burdened with the hundreds that we could not help.

There is one particular area that is not being helped much. We were only able to help 78 families of this community and it was sad to see the desperation of those who left empty-handed. Some of them became aggressive against each other and against us, but it was because they just wanted some help. My heart is burdened for them and I am praying and planning to organize one more trip there next week. Our goal will be to help 150 families in this area. Their hearts are open to hear the gospel and they are also in great need.

The cost to prepare 150 packages is approximately 2500 soles (approx 800 dollars). This does not include the cost of transportation and truck rental. The trip we made yesterday cost about 4500 soles (almost 1400 USD); the Lord really blessed and with your help and the help of three other churches in Lima we were able to get all the expenses covered.

....  I trust the Lord will supply for the needs that we have as we plan to share Christ and portray His love. Our church in Lima has surprised me with their commitment and expressions of Love towards our brethren that are hurting and towards those in need.

Please continue to pray for us as we continue to plan bringing aid to those who have suffered from the mudslides and floods and please pray for the many that are still suffering here in Peru! Mainly for many to come to the knowledge of Him.

God bless!  Giorgio Romani  Gal 2:20”

Please continue to pray for the relief work in Peru.  There are many to hear the gospel and be helped.  Pastor Giorgio and his people are doing the best that they can do with the money they have.  Operation Renewed Hope has sent $1100.00 of the $2000.00 committed.

Peru Flood Update

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Dear Friends,

ORH has received the following report by Pastor Giorgio Romani in Peru.  Please read his report.

“Mr. Milton, The pastor from Chiclayo took these pictures last Saturday from an area of Lambayeque that was flooded almost two weeks ago. There used to be a Baptist church in the area, but its temple has been pretty much destroyed.

They are also in need and apparently, the weather is starting to get better in this area, allowing us to plan a trip sooner than what we thought.

The pastor shared with us that they are in need to rebuild the temple and also in need to fix their home and the house of another pastor that we also know. The area is in need of toiletries and non-perishable foods. He mentioned that they are concerned with the spreading of dengue and other diseases. They are asking for a medical team, we will share the need with some national doctors, hoping to plan a trip focused on medial assistance.

If you have any advice you could give me in how to handle these situations and how to do bette... I would really appreciate it.

It is very overwhelming to hear the testimonies of the many that are suffering. It is so hard to make a decision on where to help, but we have focused our support in the areas I mentioned.

We pray for wisdom and we ask you to please continue to pray for us and for much wisdom in how and whom to help.  God bless, Giorgio Romani Gal 2:20”

Please pray for these brethren as they seek to help.  ORH has sent $500.00 to assist them as they help.
