Malawi Famine Update Post 1

Malawi Relief

Thursday February 21, 2013

Dear Friends,

Rejoice in the Lord always!

Eric Chapman sent this report from a Malawi brother. They are rejoicing in the first delivery of food. Continue to pray for these dear people as they serve God in a desperate place. Thank you for giving to help these people. ORH has received $1240.00 at this time to donate.

"Letter from Pastor Magada:
February 10
Brother the relief has come in good time, we have untold situation here , there is nothing people
could do in order to get food, people are diying because of hunger, women could not make it the
paved road to collect the corn becouse of weakness, their gardens are washed away they can not
have anything to cook for food like pumpkin leaves because the gardens are water logded, when I
said the help has come in good time I do really mean the people had no hope of their life how to
survive if it were not this food coming to them. 428 bags of corn has been distributed to 56 churches which means more than 856 families has been helped with 25 kgs of corn. Our pastors and people are very thankfully to you and praise the Lord for this.YOU SAVED US FROM HUNGER!"
I hope you will continue to pray.

Malawi Hope and "Sandy" Report Post 27

"Malawi Hope"

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Dear Friends,

This report came in after the appeal for help from Dr. Chapman concerning the famine stricken churches in Malawi. ORH wishes to thank First Baptist Church of Glen Este for their generous donation. The church and its pastor, Brent Snook, has been wonderful friend of ORH.

Others have helped, and we thank you so much. Please read the report of the blessings.

"Dear Friends,

I have been so blessed by the out pouring of love and concern for the Christian brothers and sisters in Malawi. So many of you have given to help alleviate the famine that is gripping Malawi right now. Stephanie and I have been overwhelmed with your generosity and the people there will be also.

Yesterday we wired the funds that have come in to date so that our team on the ground can start purchasing and distributing the food to the churches. Please know we have taken every precaution to assure that this food reaches those that need it most; I hope to receive some photos of the distribution and will post those in future letters. We will send another wire around the first of March with the remainder of the funds that have yet to come in. I have received emails and calls of more offerings that churches and individuals are sending."

Pray for these dear brothers and sisters in Christ. We in American cannot even imagine the horror of being without food when a famine is brought on by climatic conditions that destroy the ability to produce food. I am thankful that our hearts make up that difference.

"Sandy" Relief

This is a report from Pastor Nate Watkins of Repentance Baptist Church. Pastor Watkins has been working to help the people of Staten Island since the very first day of "Sandy". This email came in last week. I am sorry that we could not get it to you sooner.

"Hi Jan,

THANK-YOU for the funds you have sent and your notes of encouragement… God has been blessing the ministry to hurricane victims… recently, we have seen two men (one Puerto Rican and one Italian) come to know Him… the Italian's "wife" is expecting their third child (there's a fourth from a previous marriage), and because they just found out it's a girl, she wants to give her up for adoption. He texted me this morning to see if I could talk to them today, so they are coming for lunch in about 15 minutes. Please pray first of all for her salvation and for wisdom in helping them thru the many issues in their relationship.

May the Lord richly bless you as you continue to faithfully serve Him."

Please pray that these men will be able to meet the needs of the "Sandy" victims because of your help, and that many will respond to the gospel. We must touch their hearts and reach their souls.

God bless,
Jan Milton

"Sandy" Report Post 26

"Sandy" Update"

Monday February 4, 2013

Dear Friends,

Don't forget that we have a special "Sandy" DVD. If you would like to receive this, please reply to this email. The first video is free.

Thank you to all who have responded to these updates. Thank you all who have donated to help ORH be a help.

Below is a letter from Pastor Baker of Victory Baptist Church in the Bronx. Please read this and rejoice in God's grace and goodness.

“Dear Bro Jan,

This past week has been jammed with blessings from above. There is a lady in our church that attended casually until hurricane Sandy. It was through Sandy that she and her husband decided they need to be more faithful and more involved in church. Since, they have attended just about every service and she gave a testimony yesterday that she won her first soul to Christ! (it was her best friend, a lady named Patricia).

We had no special push yesterday, and yet God gave us out largest attendance in our new building yesterday. We are praising the Lord for the 4 first time visitors as well as the 1 who trusted Christ!

We are so thankful for all that Operation Renewed Hope has done for the Bronx. Thank you so much for your prayers and investment in our community and church family.

I just received another bill (attached) from the architect as we are taking the next step in obtaining our Certificate of Occupancy. There will be one more after this before all the steps are taken. Thank you again and have a blessed week. Pastor Ken Baker”

Please continue to pray for these men in the New York area, as they help their neighborhoods to recover from "Sandy."

"Sandy" Report Post 25

Sandy Update

Friday, February 1, 2013

Dear Friends,

The work of "Sandy" Relief continues and will for some time. Below is a report from Nate Watkins about the blessing his church, Repentance Baptist Church, has had regarding the support from ORH.

Please read the two items below and pray as he and his church reach into Staten Island with hope and the gospel. The first note came shortly after New Years and the second a couple of days ago.

"Just a quick note to let you know that with the $1,000 spent for Christmas presents for kids, was a real blessing to 13 families and about 21 kids. Also, we have continued to work with several of the families that we helped with the initial load of relief blankets, food, water, bleach, etc.. And, I recently had the joy of leading the parents in one of those homes to know the Lord!"

Praise Him! Thank-you for all the help you have channeled thru us... though it has significantly increased our work load :) it has been a joy and it has enabled us to help so many people, and in many ways that we could not have done otherwise. May the Lord continue to bless your ministry, Nate Watkins"

This is the most recent communication from him about his good works.

"BTW, an unsaved mother and father of three little girls...just left with a bunch of food, clothes, and a couple of Costco gift cards... They were so grateful. She can't come tonight to church but he said he an a friend are coming. Getting to be friends and praying for their salvation and then to be able to help them with their relationship issues."

Thank God for the ministry opportunities that your giving has provided and will keep providing.
