Hurricane Matthew Update

Friday, October 21, 2016

Dear Friends,

Haiti

Kelle Hein is flying in Haiti with Pastor Cherubin.  They are attempting to help  a village which lost all their houses.  Pastor Cherubin and Kelle flew into the village with a large tarp hoping to cover the only standing walls.

Pray for the safety of Kelle and Pastor Cherubin.  Kelle sent these messages today.

“We took some tarps to a group of people that have nothing.”

“We had some interesting weather related flying but hallelujah all is wonderful.  We did get to Les Cayes and spoke with a contact.  We will start flying supplies tomorrow or Monday.”

“Heaven O, I met a man two days ago that spoke English and wanted a New Testament.  Today I found one and glory. What a blessing!”

Please download the PDF to see the pictures that go along with Kelle’s messages.

North Carolina

Pastor Josh Tadlock, Harvest Baptist Church, Fayetteville, NC, was able to visit with Pastor Cody Mansfield of Tabernacle FWB Church in Kinston.  He sent back information that will help us help the church.

If you have a team of people that can work, Pastor Mansfield and the church needs your help.

Pastor Tim Daniel of New Testament Baptist in Kinston is seeking to help people in his area of the town.  He also is in need of help.  Pastor Daniel is making every effort to be light in his community.

Both of these pastors are in an area of North Carolina that is very badly damaged.  Please pray for them, and think about helping them with their situations.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for “Hurricane Relief.”

God bless,

Jan Milton

Dear Friends,

Haiti

Kelle Hein is now in Haiti working with Pastor Cherubin of Hosanna Baptist Church.  They are presently surveying the great needs.  The situation in Haiti is a nightmare of disaster.  Please pray for Kelle as he flies much needed relief goods to those in need.

ORH thanks Pastor Marc Mortensen, First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake, Miami, FL.  The school administrator Humberto Mendez in concert with Pastor Mortensen assisted ORH to purchase materials and to load Kelle Hein’s plane with the needed materials for the work in Haiti.  This church and pastor have been a God-send every time ORH has called on them for physical and financial support.

We also want to thank Dave Spangler for allowing Kelle Hein to fly his Cherokee 6 for the mission.

Please see the attached 2 page PDF for pictures of the work.

Bahamas

Operation Renewed Hope has had the pleasure to work with Dave Spangler and Flyin4God for several years.  He has directed the use of aircraft and pilots for Air Hope missions.  He has lived in the Bahamas and now conducts a Bible College on the Island of Andros.  Here is his report as he flew aid to the churches and people of Andros.

“Good morning Pastor Jan, After spending the day on North Andros Bahamas this is what I found. Most of the houses in Lowe Sound are gone, wiped out. What is not gone has no roof. The community of Red Bays heavy damage and no power. Nichol's Town heavy damage some power. The need for groceries and tarps is great. I took a chain saw and generator and 800 lbs of groceries yesterday. We are giving to the local Pastors to distribute to their church families. I need help with fuel costs and of course any donations of or for groceries.”

Operation Renewed Hope is paying the expenses for the aircraft so that Dave can help the people of Andros.

North Carolina

Operation Renewed Hope is financing delivery of relief goods by Nehemiah’s Network to North Carolina.  This is a message from Pastor Jenkins of Nehemiah’s Network.

“Load left today picking up Bro Medlin's stuff tomorrow.”

Pastor Ernie Medlin, Faith Baptist Church, St. Matthews, SC, has worked with ORH supplying food for United States’ disasters.  He has at least 3000 pounds of food for Pastor Jenkins to pick-up on the trip to North Carolina.  This entire load will be distributed to all in need.

ORH is now working with Pastor Cody Mansfield.  Here is his report.

“My name is Pastor Cody Mansfield and I'm the pastor at Tabernacle FWB Church in Kinston North Carolina. Hurricane Matthew has devastated us but the Lord is in control! We are extremely grateful for all that God is doing for us and what His people are doing as well. We have a lot of long hard days ahead of us but we recognize that God is still good no matter our circumstance.”

Pastor Josh Tadlock of Harvest Baptist Church in Hope Mills, NC, will be meeting with Pastor Mansfield to assess what the needs are.  Pastor Josh will be delivering water bottles to Goldsboro on Thursday as he goes to visit Pastor Mansfield.  Thank you very much Pastor Josh.

Please pray for the work in the entire area that many will be helped by the food and supplies.

Please see the two page PDF attached with pictures of the needs of Haiti, the Bahamas, and North Carolina.

Hurricane Matthew Update

Friday, October 14, 2016

Dear Friends,

The impact of Hurricane Matthew is still being assessed as the water recedes.  It is absolutely difficult to get into the impact areas because the water has not receded and there is still major water problems.

North Carolina

Anchor Baptist Mission in Mt. Pisgah Forest, NC has taken two trucks of supplies for distribution.  Anchor is one of the finest groups that ORH has the privilege of knowing.

Please read the report from Michael Blanton who is actively engaged through Anchor Baptist Mission in moving supplies to the needy areas of NC.

“Bro. Milton, It was good to talk with you yesterday. Per our conversation we have sent two loads to the Lumberton NC area, 1st load was Gospel Tabernacle Church at Maxton NC. Pastor Chris Locklear.  The 2nd load was staged at the Baptist Center in Red Springs, Pastor Wendell Hunt overseeing the operations (it    was much easier to get to, even thought we did have to drive over a flooded road). They have a drive thru and trucks going out to the neighborhoods, and shelters. While I was there on Tuesday rescue workers came in with families that was still wet from being pulled off their homes. As you know we lost two truck in an accident, so we are having to rent tractors for our trailer. With our people giving to W Va. & La. things are tight and we are trusting GOD for our every need, if you could help with the transportation it would be a real blessing. The cost is about $500.00 per. load, 100% of all funds goes to where it is intended. I’m starting on load #3 now. Michael Blanton, ABMI”

Operation Renewed Hope is committed to this third shipment by Anchor Baptist Mission.  ORH will send $600.00 to Anchor Baptist to help them move this 3rd load into the “Matthew” areas of NC.  Thank God for Anchor Baptist Missions.

Once again, ORH will join with Nehemiah’s Network and DirectLine Ministry.  Pastor Jenkins wrote the following:

“We will be sending a load to Red Springs, NC.  I will pay Paul to take load; and then when you send $600.00, we will reimburse church.”

ORH will send $600.00 to help them with travel costs to complete a mission to the impact area of “Matthew” in North Carolina.  Pastor Allen Jenkins and Paul Deem are working together to move a load on next Tuesday to the Red Springs, NC, distribution point.  Please pray for their safety.

Haiti

There is no end to the desperate situation in Haiti.  The people are frightened beyond measure.  Please read what ORH received this from Sarah Bennett, Mission for Haiti.

“This very morning at 3:00 am, the streets in Jacmel were full of residents who were looking for transportation to go to higher elevations for safety from a tsunami. Some will even walk most of the day to reach the mountains. A rumor started that a tsunami is coming and people are panicking!! There is nothing official concerning this. It’s just a rumor spread on social media and WhatsApp, and it’s causing so much panic.

Concerning the western part of the island—cholera has started and many have died already. The hunger and homelessness are so pathetic. Mission for Haiti and Operation Renewed Hope have joined together and are already helping. We will continue, depending upon funds we are given for this tragedy

Please pray and please give. Thank you so much!!”

ORH is still in need of aircraft for Haiti.  Two twin engine planes are committed for about 10 days from now.  A pilot and aircraft are needed before that time.  Please join the Air Hope coalition to help fly over the destruction with needed supplies.

Continue to pray for West Virginia and Louisiana.

Haiti/North Carolina Update

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Dear friends,

The impact of Hurricane Matthew is not over; it is just beginning.  Pray for the work of ORH.

Haiti – Air Hope Mission

Currently, ORH is attempting to station an airplane in Jacmel, Haiti, so we can fly missions into Jeremie and other areas.  Pray we can find a twin-engine aircraft to go from the US to Haiti.  We need the pilot to stay for at least 7 days starting October 17, 2016.

Our pilots with twin engine aircraft are involved in already scheduled meetings and will not be available for at least two weeks.

North Carolina

In North Carolina, ORH has been informed of one widow lady whose house has been flooded in the LaGrange area.  Pray that ORH will be able to help her with her needs.  This lady has been extremely faithful to the Lord.

The problem with Hurricane Matthew in North Carolina is the flooding stages of the rivers.  The rivers have not crested so we cannot determine the full impact.  The Neuse River, Goldsboro NC is presently over 10’ above flood stage and still has not crested.  The Tar River, Greenville, NC, is about 10’ above flood stage and still has not crested.  The Neuse River, Kinston, NC, is about 9’ above flood stage and still has not crested.  The Lumber River, Lumberton, NC, is almoat 8’ above flood stage and still has not crested.

When the information becomes available, ORH will begin a process of attempting to help the people.  A sister organization has 30 locations which are being monitored and could be potential areas to work.  Faith Christian School in Goldsboro has already reported that their kindergarten building is flooded.  We hope to know something within 24 hours as the people are able to report their needs.

For your prayers, we say thank you.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.

Matthew: Haiti Update

Saturday, October 8, 2016

Dear Friends,

The death toll in Haiti is growing.  The damage is massive.  Pastor Jenkins of Nehemiah’s Network sent this message from Missionary Paul Harrigan.

“In the Northwest area where we have much of the ministry we have a church…the roof it was blown away and we have 4 schools which lost their roofs…we know we cannot even reach some areas to know the numbers.

I would like for you to pray with us and see what you can do to help us this week there is no school but Monday they will start back.  This is just a short note God bless you all  Paul Harrigan”

The attached PDF gives pictures of the damage which Paul Harrigan reports.  The PDF also shows the village of Jeremie which Hosanna Baptist Church is attempting to help.  The roads and the bridge to this village is washed away so we are hoping to have air planes to help soon.

Pray for the safety of all of those working.

Haiti: Matthew Update

Friday, October 7, 2016

Dear Friends,

“Matthew” is now beating on Florida and could do so for a prolonged time.  ORH is waiting to hear about those in need.  Please send your information about needs.

The Haiti work continues.  ORH supplied $4000.00 for the needed efforts to help the families displaced by “Matthew.”  Please pray for Pastor Dieupie Cherubin as he and his church, Hosanna Baptist, help the people.

Mission for Haiti just sent this update.  Please read what Sarah Bennett has sent to ORH.

“Well, the storm is past but there remains a ton of devastation – as everyone well knows. Over 200 houses have collapsed and dozens upon dozens of gardens and plantations have been wiped out. This will result in terrible hunger and excruciating misery for thousands in the coming months. Please pray about this.

Today the shelters are beginning to thin out. Yesterday Hosanna prepared rice and beans for over 2000 folks in the shelters. Hosanna cooks prepared food from 7:30 AM until 8:30 PM. They prepared 2450 individual "carry-outs" for those who had not eaten since the storm hit. Pastor Dieupie has worked around the clock to find solutions for the many difficulties that surface during such crises. We covet your prayers for many who are homeless now and suffering from other physical difficulties.

It turns out that Camp Bossier has had some damages that will need to be taken care of soon. Hosanna Radio had some antenna damages also. We hope to be back on the air in a couple of days.

Again, we thank you for your prayers and your financial assistance. It has been a huge blessing to us.

Thank you,  Sarah Bennett,  Mission for Haiti, Inc.”

Please pray that Pastor Dieupie will have multiple opportunities to give the Gospel.  He had many converts from the earthquake a few years ago, and many were baptized.

Please download the PDF about the situation and work of Hosanna Baptist Church.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.
