Louisiana and West Virginia

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

Dear Friends,

The work in Louisiana continues as well as the work in West Virginia.

West Virginia

Thank God Pastor Youel Altizer of Graystone Baptist has reported a second event for Doreen Goddard, widow of the past pastor at Sewall Baptist Church.  She has now, not only her Kitchen cabinets, which ORH reported about, but she also has the countertops and the money to install them.  We are so thankful to God’s people for donating so that ORH could supply the funds for this work.  Continue to pray please.

Louisiana

Nehemiah’s Network rented a van/truck.  Pastor Jenkins is on his way to pick up items for distribution in Louisiana.  This will be the contents for the second shipment.

DirectLine Ministry led by Paul Deem distributed the first shipment to Central Baptist Church on Monday the 22nd of August.  Central Baptist has secured a parking lot not far from the church so they can distribute the food supplies which DirectLine Ministry has delivered.

The DirectLine Ministry truck is now on the way back to Nehemiah’s Network warehouse operated by Pastor Alan Jenkins.  The truck stopped today at Faith Baptist Church in St Matthews, SC, Pastor Ernie Medlin to pick up over 3000 lbs of quality non-perishable food supplies.  This will be added to the second shipment to the Louisiana area.

DirectLine Ministry and Nehemiah’s Network need your prayers.  They are planning the second trip to Central Baptist once they return to Nehemiah’s Network from Faith Baptist, St Matthews, SC.

Please download the PDF to see the Louisiana work.  We need to help these good brothers with their costs both of supplies and equipment.

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.

Louisiana Update

Wednesday, August 17, 2016

Dear Friends,

ORH received this email from Pastor Denny Winborne of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Slidell, LA.  He was a great blessing in the Katrina work.  Although his church was damaged by Hurricane Katrina, he was completely committed to helping others.  Pastor Winborne wrote the following:

“Pastor Glen Taylor, Temple Baptist Church, Denham springs, 6ft water in home, no flood ins. due to not being in Flood Zone.  Pastor Rusty Silvertooth, Fundamental Baptist, Livingston, La, church is dry but estimates near half or more members with heavy losses or lost everything, like Bro. Bobby Buchanan, Baton Rouge.  Pastor Jay Griggs, New Life Baptist, Ponchatoula, lost home but has flood ins. Second time this year to floods. I know FEMA will come through with much help for those not having ins., but these churches are also heavy involved in Flood Relief as we were in KATRINA 11 yr ago when I met you guys. I knew of the ones you've mentioned already and are doing what's possible to help.  Finish a great day,  Pastor Denny Winborne, Lighthouse Baptist Church”

ORH found a true and faithful friend in Pastor Winborne.  If you know of other churches please let us know.  ORH, although still involved with the work in West Virginia, will do whatever possible to be a help.  Pray for these families and churches.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.

Malawi, Louisiana, West Virginia

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

Dear Friends,

Malawi

Dr. Eric Chapman has been a wonderful friend of Operation Renewed Hope.  Because of the work that ORH has engaged in with him in the past, ORH is now embarking on a new ministry with Dr. Chapman.  The new ministry ORH calls “Village Medical Assistant.”

Village Medical Assistant or VMA is an ORH effort to keep a consistent presence in different countries.  Although ORH will not be in countries continuously, ORH can have a consistent presence by financially helping to organize and support evangelistic medical clinics conducted by missionaries and nationals.  ORH was able to send $500.00 to Dr. Chapman for his efforts in this clinic.  We hope to do more to help Dr. Chapman who is an aggressive and creative evangelistic missionary in the coming days.

The attached PDF contains pictures of the July 2016 clinic in Phalombe, Malawi in which ORH engaged with Dr. Chapman.

Pray for the other countries that will come on-line reasonably soon with the VMA program.

Louisiana

ORH was able to provide $750.00 for Pastor Buddy Buchanan at Central Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA.  In the last twenty-four hours, ORH has received the names of two more churches with their pastors that are in serious need because of the flooding.  Pastor Michael Herdzik, Kennedy, NY, sent information about Open Door Baptist Church, Pastor Dennis Schaffer.  Also, Pastor Bob Graham, Kansas City, MO, sent us information on St. Amant Baptist Church in St. Amant, LA.

Pray that we will be able to help with the needs. If you know of anyone who needs help, please write ORH at jan@operationrenewedhope.org.

West Virginia

The work continues in West Virginia. Please continue to pray as work teams go in to help the churches and families that have experienced loss.  ORH has sent $2000.00 more dollars to help with restoration and repair in Clendenin, WV.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.

God bless,

Louisiana Flooding

Monday, August 15, 2016

Dear Friends,

The situation in Louisiana is local but very bad.  ORH has received a message through Nehemiah’s Network concerning Central Baptist Church and Pastor Buddy Buchanan.

Please download the PDF which will give you a better understanding of the situation.  Pastor Buchanan has approximately 8 feet of water in his home.

ORH is sending Pastor Buchanan $750.00 immediately to help him with lodging so he can stay close to his church.  Pastor Jenkins of Nehemiah’s Network says that the church has several families with home damage and in need.

Usually, ORH sends $1000.00, but the West Virginia work is requiring our attention also.

Pray for these people their needs are real.  Thank you for always lovingly helping others.

WV Update

Sunday, August 14, 2016

Dear Friends,

ORH just received this encouraging email from Pastor Gordon Dickson, Calvary Baptist, Findlay, OH.

“Jan,  Thank you for your help with the Calvary Baptist Church of Clendenin, WV. Pastor Davis has been encouraged by your gracious support.

The Elk River flood that decimated this area makes it look like a war zone, but it is clear that many of the people are rebuilding.

After the power was restored to the church building a couple of weeks ago, we started running powerful dehumidifiers, and those are still in operation on site. Yesterday, the Grace Baptist Church of Bridgeport, WV led by Pastor Jeff Vaughan did a wonderful job of advancing the project for us.   After mold remediation was completed, they were able to do the following:

Install the vapor barrier in the crawlspace.

Install new framing above the basement wall.

Scrub and vacuum all the hard surfaces in auditorium and upper story (with an "air scrubber" in use to capture all of the mold released into the air).

Please pray with us about these next steps, which we would like to do this week if we have the manpower.

Setting the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) units and wiring them up,

Installing ductwork for the HVAC,

Installing electrical sockets on the framing in the basement and wiring those up.

(We have access to a certified electrician in the area who is willing to inspect and certify the work of volunteers.)

Sincerely,

Gordon Dickson

ORH thanks Pastor Jeff Vaugh and his church for their efforts with Pastor Dickson.  If you can send workers, please call Pastor Dickson.  They are doing a wonderful job.

Please pray for the people in Louisiana.  ORH was contacted about a pastor with 8’ to 10’ of water in his home from the flooding there.  We will get more information.
