Dear Friends,

Nepal Update

We have several things going on now in Nepal.  We are approaching a time when we will be able to help the churches and communities.  Please pray that our ability to get help into the Nepalese people will be a regular event.

We hope to use our contacts in India to get help into the many people of whom we are now becoming aware.  Pastor Athem and Dr. John Paul Moses are making the first efforts into Nepal to contact people about ministry.  Pray for their success.  We received the following from Pastor Athem in the last two days..

“Dear Pastor Jan,
Due to lack of power supply I could not get back to you last night.  As soon as the initial funds in my hand I will be going to Kathmandu with food and other essential commodities. Hopefully on Wednesday.   I am planning on taking a medical team.  4/5 Indian doctors; 4/5 Indian nurses; 4 Pastors; 5 Young men for helpers.  10000 Gospel tracks and Bibles will be taken too.  I will be able to take this team in next week since I will have to go for survey first.  Thank you for your prayers and helps.  In His Service, Athem

Dear Pas Jan,
1. I found out that we cannot take the food and other things from India unless we obtain a permission from Govt. of India. Therefore, we just formed a small committee to obtain a permit and recommendations so that we shall be able to take things from India and to give to the people in Nepal.  2. I got Dr. John Paul's air ticket to fly to Bagdogra to go with me to Nepal day after tomorrow.
Please pray for our safety.  Thank you.  Athem & Indu Khiang Chothe  Ps.2:8

Dear Uncle Jim & Pastor Jan,
Dr. John Paul arrived here in Siliguri today afternoon at 3:00 p.m. we are now ready to take the early morning trip to Nepal for the purpose of getting some foods and a survey for the next trip with medical team and larger items such as tents, rice and many more. Please pray for our safety on the road.  In His Service,  Athem & Indu Khiang Chothe”

Please pray for these good men that they will have safe travel as they survey the needs.

I want to thank those who have sent messages that they will help with this evangelistic relief work.  Pastor Larry Gilaspy in Fairbanks, IN has written that his church will send money to help Brother Tamang who has preached in their church.  Pastor Steve Crews has written ORH that a donation is coming from their church in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Thank you so much for helping us to help the Nepalese people in a time of distress.

God bless,
Jan Milton

Monday April 27, 2015

Dear Friends,

Much is happening at this moment in Nepal, and the death toll is rising as people dig through the rubble.  The most important thing is that we give the Gospel while seeking to relieve the suffering of the people.

Pastor Athem Chothe in Gangtok, Sikkim, India wrote the following.

“Dear Dr. Jan,  According to the media reports the death toll raised to 3218 today and the hospitals are over-crowded with victims of the quake. I am going to the border now to find out the possibility of penetration of our team with aids. My question is, will it be possible for ORH to set up a clinic in the open fields? Why because the hospitals are over-crowded and also far from the affected areas.
Thank you so much.  I'll get back to you in the afternoon my time. In His Service,  Athem Chothe”

In planning with Pastor Athem this morning to take supplies, medical help, and the gospel into Nepal, it became obvious that a medical team from India would be the most frugal use of funds.

Pastor Athem will be going into Nepal for a survey trip with relief supplies.  He will then get us accurate information about sending a medical team.  ORH can possibly fund the medical team to travel from India to help the people and give the gospel.

Pray we will have funds to do this.  ORH will send immediately $1000.00 to help Pastor Athem with his initial trip and food distribution.  Thousands could hear the gospel in a strongly Buddhist country.

James Tamang wrote back this communication with pictures.

“Brother Milton,  First of all thank you for calling us personally and letting us know that  you care.  We really appreciated very much.   Here are some pictures that I took as we passed by yesterday.   Currently, we are focusing on one of the village close by because of transportation we cannot do much. hopefully we will be able to do more in future….Our local church has also decided that we help with which doubles the financial support. Please do pray that God would give us wisdom.   Thank you for praying for us.  We were able to access internet just now.  Keep praying. We felt five different times the shake during the night.  It is still continuing.”

ORH contacted Pastor James by cell phone early this morning.  He asked for help in determining exactly what to do.  A plan to distribute rice, lintels, and curry for food was made.  Then a plan was discussed to give the gospel, as they distributed the food.  After the planning, James wrote once again.

“Dear Bro. Jan,  Yes, this is helpful advise.  Please have people lifting us up in prayer.  God is at work.”

ORH will be sending $1000.00 to get this process started.  Pray for their safety as they help this village which is closest to them.

ORH thanks Pastor Steve Rebert, Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church of Winchester, VA, who has supported the work of ORH for many years for submitting another person to contact, missionary Luke Knickerbocker.  ORH has sent a communication to them to see if they need help.

If you would like to donate by debit or credit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the donation “International Relief.”

If you would like to give by check, send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the donation “International Relief.”

Pray consistently for these good people.  This is their day to have a large ministry to the people they live among which is usually not the situation.  This is the heart of missions, the compassion and love of Christ.

Please download the attachment for pictures of Pastor Tamang area where he will work.

Nepal Earthquake

Sunday April 26, 2015

Dear Friends,

ORH is always privileged to hear from so many who send good contacts during disaster times.  One such contact is Pastor Athem Chothe who directs the children’s home that ORH supports in Gangtok, Sikkim, India.  Sikkim borders Nepal, and Pastor Athem’s wife is from Nepal.  He wrote the following, and ORH is currently working to help him reach over into Nepal.

“Dear Friends,  As you know that the 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit the Nepal and India today. By God's grace we are safe and no casualties in our area although we did experienced a big time.

We have some friends in Nepal and some church planters like Samuel and Iswar Shrestha who was in my office yesterday. He left for Kathmandu yesterday and I am not still able to get hold of him. Please pray that these friends and their church members will be in safe areas. Hopefully I will be able to get hold of them by tonight or tomorrow.  I am working on it.  In His Service,  Athem & Indu Khiang Chothe”

On a phone conversation this morning with Pastor Athem, he related that the brother referred to above did find casualties in their church.  At least one believer is dead.

Brother Lin Croxton, long-time friend of ORH, wrote the following, and ORH is currently seeking to make contact with this brother.

“Dear Jan: I know you have one contact there in Nepal, but there is another young man who graduated from Berean Baptist Bible College there in Bangalore, India.

He is our contact person arranging for a conference for us to be in Nepal in November.  He is doing a good job and we have helped raised funds for two different motorcycles for him and his ministry.  His name is Koshilning Thangsha….  He has contact with Pastors all over Nepal and may be able to tell of needs there.  Thanks.  Until He comes, Lin”

An aftershock has occurred which will be very frightening to those who went through the original earthquake.  People will be afraid to go in any buildings because of possible internal structural damage from the original earthquake.

ORH will continue to take information about possible contacts.  Please send the contact name, email, city, and cell phone.  Land lines do not work in this situation.

If you would like to donate by debit or credit card, please, go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the donation for “International Relief.”

If you would like to donate by check, please, send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the check for “International Relief.”

ORH thanks all who helped in the Yapp Island typhoon.  To date $3000.00 has been sent to our partners, Grace Dental and Medical, for work with Paul Zimmer.  ORH sends a thank you to Harvest Baptist Church in Guam for their great effort.  This is an amazing church.

Also, ORH will soon publish a report about the work in Rochelle, IN which was hit by tornados.

These are opportunities to tell and demonstrate that God loves a hostile, sin-marred world through his son’s sacrifice on Calvary.

God bless,

Jan Milton

Dear Friends,

Missionary Scott Blackburn sent this yesterday evening at 4:30 PM from the hospital in Puerto Maldonado.  Our good co-laborers Buddy and Loren Fitzgerald are working closely with Scott concerning the young Peruvian girl’s need.  Please read the email received.

“Hi Jan we are at the hospital now getting her set up with iv and the meds from the emails you sent us Loren is with me. We think it would be best if the Doctor that said he would come could come I will get his hotel set up and transports and meals. Thank you brother for all you have done for this girl she is in extreme discomfort and she has a fever of 101 the odor is strong rotting flesh….Hey Kan, the doctor, would like us to get the infection under control before the doctor from the United States visits he is open to his visit but there maybe a transfer to a better facility in a larger city please hold the doctor there for now. Thank you”

ORH thanks the doctors and medical professionals who responded to our appeal for help.  The immediate responses from God’s medical professionals may prove to be the saving of this young girl’s life.  To these wonderful servants ORH says, “Thank you, for reading the emails concerning those in great need around the world who seek help from ORH.”

Scott Blackburn called reporting that they gave the ORH emails from the medical professionals, both in and out of the United States, to the doctors in Puerto Maldonado.  The medical professionals there in Puerto Maldonado expressed their appreciation for the collaboration and cultural exchange concerning this girl’s needs.

Our God takes the sin-cursed world’s bad and through His people shows His love and compassion.  Many will know of Christ’s love because of these efforts.  God always defeats evil with good.

Continue to pray for this situation.

God bless,

Jan Milton

Russia and Rochelle, IL

Tuesday April 14, 2015

Dear Friends,

Elena in Russia, Burn Victim

We just received this communication from Kevin Jones in Siberia.  Please read his update and give to your prayer groups.

“Lena has had 2 more operations. This week the doctors are going to try to get her up and into a wheelchair.  She still has several burn areas that have not been covered with grafts. She is responding to the antibiotics, but this is the last antibiotic that is available so there is still a serious risk of the bacteria becoming resistant leaving her with no possible treatment. Thank you for praying. Kevin”

Kevin Jones is a good missionary.  As he works with this lady, he is influencing family members and professionals that he is not part of a cult as the people tend to believe.  This actions of compassion and effort are the greatest “door openers” for the spread of the Gospel.

Kevin needs our strongest efforts in prayer for the life of Elena, her family, and the medical professionals in his area.

Rochelle, IL – Tornado Efforts

An EF-4 Tornado touched down in Rochelle and Fairdale, IL last week.  The devastation was very bad and at least two people were killed.  Pastor Jenkins of Nehemiah’s Network has been working with ORH for  years now to help people in need after disasters, both physically and spiritually.  He is a pastor committed to the Gospel of Christ and its spread.

Please read his communication to ORH on Thursday, April 9, 2015.  Operation Renewed Hope has promised he and his church $1000.00 to start the relief work to Rochelle through Harvest Baptist Church in Rochelle.  Harvest has agreed to take the supplies delivered to the town and also to tell people about our Savior.

“Hi Bro Jan, We will be collecting and buying supplies for the trip to Harvest Baptist Church in Rochelle Illinois.  We will load truck up on Friday with a delivery on Saturday the 18th. We are having people drop off at our church or the warehouse. People can also make a donation for disaster relief online at columbiaroad.org.

Thanks for your help we will keep track of how the $1000.00 you committed from Operation Renewed Hope was used (“was used” – inserted for clarity by ORH)….Pastor Alan C. Jenkins, Columbia Road Baptist Church, 4116 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070”

If you would like to donate by debit or credit card, please, go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for God”.  Designate the donation “International Relief” or “Domestic Relief.”

If you would like to donate by check, please, send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the donation “International Relief” or “Domestic Relief.”

Thank God for all who help those in need of physical help and the Gospel of Christ.

Urgent Need in Peru for Young Girl

Wednesday April 22, 2015

Dear Friends,
Urgent Need in Peru for Young Girl

Once again, as with the young woman in Russia, we are being asked by an on-the-field missionary for medical help.  Please read Buddy Fitzgerald’s information below.  He is in Puerto Maldonado, Peru.  Our medical team will be there in July of this year.

Your help in past times has been a true blessing.  If you have any suggestions, please, let us know as soon as possible.  Our missionaries need prayer.  They are facing difficult situations with limited help.

Buddy sends the following,  “This is from some new friends of ours here in Peru. Do you know anyone who could help diagnose this?

Begin forwarded message:

‘Hi Blaine, we have moved a single mom and her 5 children into our home as they need help to get back on their feet. The oldest girl 16 is very ill and currently in our care she is suffering from what appears to be Pemphigus; Dr here diagnosed. We were told by Dr at a clinic here that's what it was and when we looked it up it seems consistent with her symptoms . They gave us a drug called Levozalicer( maybe SPANISH ) levocetirizina .
The condition is quite severe literally her skin is falling off her body , can you provide any other advice based off a pic only unfortunately as to what else we can do for her ? We are scheduled to meet with a dermatologist on Sat as well . We understand that this condition is brought on by malnutrition. She is now eating very well with us and we are giving her some vitamins also and the medicine previously mentioned. We are concerned that the condition has progressed to severe state and we are looking for specialist advice on how to treat it.  Medicine diet etc. thank you maybe you could share this with some of the doctors where you work,  we just want her to be well.
Blessings from Peru!!
Scott Blackburn
But God doesn't call us to be comfortable. He calls us to trust Him so completely that we are unafraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn't come through.’"

I have a picture of the young girl which I can send for further observation.  I am not sending it generally because of its visual impact.  If you are easily offended by visual, please do not ask for this attachment.

Please let us know ASAP, if you have any suggestions.

YAPP Island Typhoon

Operation Renewed Hope is very committed to the help of people impacted by natural disasters.  It is rewarding to take a storm or earthquake which occurs in a marred world and reverse the dire circumstances created.  We want people to know that our God loves all men.

In these efforts we often work with some of the most wonderful people on earth.  Below is a report from such people.  Instead of duplicating efforts, ORH seeks to combine our efforts with the efforts of others.  Dr. Jack Mitchell’s organization, Grace Dental and Medical Missons, and missionary, Paul Zimmer, are an example.  Bryan Bell of Grace Dental and Medical Missions led a team to help Paul Zimmer with the island people.

This is their most recent report.

“We transported and distributed over five tons of food, water, tarps, soap, shirts, hats, and many other necessities to small outer islands with populations ranging from 150 to 800. These essential supplies went a long way to strengthen relationships between missionaries and island communities, and to help people who have suffered great physical and emotional trauma….

Aside from the goods provided, our team of twelve workers labored very hard to help bring order out of the destruction and chaos left by the relentless winds of Super Typhoon Maysak.  We brought eight chainsaws with us to the islands and most of our time was spent clearing roads and homes of fallen trees….

We were often asked or told by islanders, especially the elderly, that the typhoon was God’s punishment for lawlessness and sin on the islands. On Sunday morning, missionary Paul Zimmer was able to speak in the men’s house (to all the men of the islands) on the island of Fadrai.  Paul shared the gospel starting from Luke 13:….

We are thankful for the advances made for the Gospel.  Relief and Recovery efforts will continue over the next months….”

Please continue to pray for these healing efforts for Islands often never remembered in every day experience.  They need help to recover.  They need the gospel.

Russian Lady Burn Victim Update

Monday, March 30, 2015

Dear Friends,

This is a medical news release which has been provided to us for publication concerning Elena the woman who was burned over 80% of her body.  Missionary Kevin Jones is working with her at this time as part of his good ministry to Siberia.

Dr. Phil Organ, a doctor who recently made contact with ORH, was one of the people who received the plea for guidance published by ORH on Wednesday, March 25, 2014.  He is a wound care doctor, and has contacted sources which can help Elena, if she can be helped.

Below is an approved update by Dr. Organ and the company that has the ability to help.  Please read this and pray for God’s will to be done.

”News Release:

Thirty-six year old KEP was admitted to a Siberia, Russia, Resuscitation Department on July 7, 2-14 with burns covering 80% of her body.   Currently, her burn wounds have healed leaving 20% still open.  They are infected and not responding well to antibiotics.  Her condition is grave and stable.

Operation Renewed Hope has reached out for help.  Dr. Philip Organ, a former program and medical director of a local wound center in Naples, Florida has suggested several strategies.  He is on the advisory board of a company currently investigating a novel therapy intended for use in infected skin and soft tissue wounds and burns that is seeking regulatory approval in the US and Europe.  He is working with the company’s management to secure compassionate use in Russia.

Organogenesis, a US company that produces a laboratory grown human skin substitute has been asked to support the effort with their skin substitute.  A number of local home care nursing companies are being solicited for dressing supplies.  Dr. Organ hopes to bring these technologies to Siberia in an effort to assist in the care of the patient.  Operation Renewed Hope, a major sponsor of medical missions, is the primary organizational and logistical support organization.”

Our God is so great that He can put these things in motion.  Pray for Elena that her body will continue to respond to the current antibiotic.  Pray that we can get the “novel therapy” to Elena in time.   Pray that the companies who are producing the needed “skin substitute” will be able to help.  Pray for Dr. Organ that he will be able to orchestrate this effort for God’s glory.

I am always amazed as I watch God work through all of his marvelously trained people.  We also want to thank Dr. Elizabeth Drum for her efforts to check on a traveling surgical team.

God bless all who are praying.

Russia, Lebanon, Chuuk

Friday, April 3, 2015

Dear Friends,

HE IS RISEN!  Hallelujah!  He is risen, indeed!

Russia
Dr. Phil Organ sent the following communication concerning Elena, burn victim.  Kevin Jones, Siberian missionary, sent the appeal for this woman’s desperate needs.

“Good Afternoon Jan,  As expected though regretted, things are moving very slowly.  At this point I am waiting for an update on the availability of the plasma device.  Apparently there is one in Krasnoyarsk but getting it to the hospital will be a challenge.  I'll push the principal involved tomorrow - I'm giving him today to see what he accomplished before I pester him.  He is also asking Elena's physician some questions that I've posed but there is a translation problem.  So we will have to see how he fares.  Also, I've asked him to get photographs of the wounds and that seems a difficult task.

On another front, I am in contact with the company rep in Krasnoyarsk.  I hope to secure a specialty bed/mattress used specifically for burn patients.  Again, I'lll pester her more, tomorrow.

Finally, I've been talking with the Organogenesis rep about tissue substitutes and I'll check back with him tomorrow.

If things fall into place, I would expect to go to Russia next week.  If they do not fall into place, I leave it up to you as to my going.  Also, I have a wound nurse who has expressed willingness to accompany me and there too, I leave it up to you as far as sending her.

For now, thanks for your support and prayers.  Phil”

Pray Dr. Organ’s efforts are successful for the testimony of Christ.

Lebanon
Pastor Karim Dahdah has faithfully helped the Syrian Refugees in Zahle.  In a new effort, his church will be sponsoring a medical clinic July 27-30, 2015.  Due to security issues Operation Renewed Hope will not be sending a full team to Lebanon.  Instead, we will be funding a clinic provided by Lebanese doctors and one dentist who are friends and acquaintances of Pastor Dahdah.

Pastor Dahdah will preach to gospel at 12 noon each day of the clinic.  The doctors will provide care and dental services from 1 pm to 5 pm each day.  Operation Renewed Hope will fund the clinic so these people will hear the gospel and receive care for their physical needs.

The compassion of Christ can change the lives of people both physically and spiritually.  Please pray our efforts will be successful.

Chuuk
Operation Renewed Hope has been made aware of a great need in the Chuuk and Yapp Islands after a major Typhoon struck the islands.  Missionary Paul Zimmer has indicated that there was great damage experienced by churches, pastors, and individuals.

ORH wishes to help these Islanders with assistance in basic needs of survival and rebuilding efforts.   Grace Dental and Medical is a sister organization lead by Dr. Jack Mitchell.  Dr. Mitchell, a long time friend, has led efforts to these Islands in the past and is totally familiar with their needs.  He will be sending his staff led by Brian Bell to determine the needs and requirements to help continue sending the gospel from this devastated area.

ORH would like to cooperate with this wonderful sister organization which we have known for years.  If you would like to help please contact ORH.  Please read the message below.

“This just came in from missionary Mark Zimmer:  We flew over Federai, Mogmog, and Asor and took aerial footage.  We then landed in Falalop.  Taxiing down the runway, our first sight of the island was coconut trees broken in half like tooth picks.  The devastation was breathtaking from start to finish.  The cleanup will be a huge effort.
James and Masency were in good spirits and were trusting the Lord through this incredible trial.  James' house is rubble as are the majority of all the homes on Ulithi.  I was able to radio Rollence in Fais and heard the same is true in Fais.  When I asked James and the Chief what they needed the most right now, they both said they need help cleaning up the mess.  Many of those we talked to were wondering if God had punished them for something they had done.  I believe that the door is opening for James and Masency to share the love of Christ with these needy people!”

If you can help with the cost of any of these efforts mentioned above please contact Operation Renewed Hope.

If you would like to give by debit or credit card, please, go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Designate the gift for “International Relief.”

If you would like to give by check, please send to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC  28309.  Designate the gift for “International Relief.”

May God make your celebration of His resurrection a blessed event.
