PRAISE GOD Blessings in Peru

Thursday, March 24, 2016

Dear Friends,

ORH rejoices when God’s people are ministering in a work where the clinics have taken place.  Three year ago ORH conducted a clinic with Buddy Fitzgerald in Patria and Pillcopata, both in the Manu Region of Peru.  As a result of this clinic, Alex and Flor Herrera surrendered to go to the clinic site area and start planting a local church.   ORH has supported them for $250.00 per month since they began the work.

Buddy Fitzgerald wrote the following from Alex and Flor.

“I am in regular contact with our friend, Alex Herrera, about the work in his area. We are thankful to see that kingdom is advancing and God is glorified.  They are planning to have a large church anniversary celebration, during the middle of July, with a special service on July 17.  He has asked that someone from ORH come to be present, if that were possible, in order to see the work, and participate in the celebration.”

Alex and Flor wrote the following through Buddy Fitzgerald.

“Dear Brothers, by the grace of God we continue and I work in his work as it happened in February and God has been faithful to us and the brothers here in the jungle; now we are preparing for Easter; because we are organizing a week of services, where we will invite many people in the community in order to present the redemptive work of our Lord and all this.  It will be accompanied with a lunch and a movie based on the life of Christ; for this dear brothers I ask your prayers for God it glorifies this activity.   On the other hand dear brothers I also ask your prayers for a new place to congregate.  We are trying to find a place closer to the population and larger to have our Sunday school classes.”

Please pray for this good brother and sister in Christ.  The jungle is all around them.  Although they are not cut-off, they are very isolated from the outside world except by treacherous roads up the mountains to Cusco, Peru.

They are ministering with all their heart.  ORH will continue to send them support as long as God supplies.  This is how a new church gets started.

Missionary Needs Doctor - Please Read

Friday, March 18, 2016

Dear Friends,

Lori and Oleg Enskyy are serving in the Ukraine.  ORH supports their children’s work there by buying food for the children.  This is very important because food is not readily available.  Also, we will be doing a medical clinic with them in 2017.

Lori is writing about a health situation for Oleg.  They need a doctor to give them advice after looking at Oleg’s MRI.  Please read their request for help.

“Dear Jan,  We have a request.  Oleg has been having knee problems and had an MRI done.  We have all the scans on cd as well as on film.  do you have an orthopedic doctor that might be able to take a look and give us a consult?  We won't be in the states for some time and there are no orthopedic doctors anywhere around here.  Thanks so much,  Lori”

If you can give guidance and would be willing to look at the MRI’s, please contact us as soon as possible.

This is a great couple with a marvelous heart for the people of the Ukraine.  I hope that we can help them.

Fiji Update

Sunday, March 6, 2016

Dear Friends,

Fijian Cyclone Disaster

ORH has received Michael Ball’s name through two good sources.  After talking with ORH, he has agreed to be one of ORH’s American missionaries to work with nationals who have experienced loss.  We are so thankful for these opportunities to help both the believer and the unbeliever.  Michel wrote us the following.

“Jan,  As we discussed, you can send the funds to Biblical Ministries Worldwide.  Everything is set up.  Please include with the donation a note indicating that it is designated for the following:  Fiji Cyclone Relief Fund.  Thanks so much for your help.  Mike”

Please download the pdf to see the needs that Michael will be helping ORH to meet.

Twenty year veteran missionary, Kory Mears, has a great vision for how he can help the good people of Fiji.  I spoke with the pastor of sending church.  He has assured me that Kory will do great work.  The previous pdf which was used as an attachment was from the destruction of a planted church and individual homes that Kory sent.  Operation Renewed Hope sent $2000.00 to Kory last week to begin the work.  Pray God will use this for His glory as Kory and his family minister to the Fijian families.

We have made contact with missionary Paul Daku, he is presently assessing the situation.  ORH will attempt to help him also.

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift “International Relief.”

July 2017 – 25 year Anniversary Celebration Cruise

The response to the cruise has been great and very positive.  We have 16 responses which are favorable.  We would like to have at least 25 people say, “yes.”  Please consider the opportunity to cruise to Alaska with ORH.  The cruise would be in the month of July and/or early August of 2017 and would originate on the West Coast.  The cost of the cruise would be approximately $1,000.00 per person with double occupancy and does not include airfare.  We anticipate the length of the cruise to be 7 days.

One question was asked, “Can layman come on the cruise.”  All church members and friends, pastors and friends, missionaries and friends, and team members and friends are needed and welcome to celebrate.

God bless,

Jan Milton

Fiji Update

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

Dear Friends,

We just received the first budget from Missionary Kory Mears.  One of his churches was completely destroyed and many homes of the church people.  Please read his most current information to us.

“Hello Jan,   Thanks for your desire to help us out in this project.   As you know, Fiji has been decimated by this cyclone. As much as there needs to be help everywhere, we are focusing our assistance where we think there is the greatest impact as far as salvation of souls and ministry.

The two villages we are helping are Barotu and its sister village of Rokoroko with about 65 households. We have a church there, Barotu Baptist Church, which was completely destroyed in the Cyclone.

Because of Fijian traditions, there has been a lot of opposition to us during the years…. We have already taken two truck loads of food rations to the village. We plan to help them rebuild destroyed homes, clean up from the disaster and help provide food for them.  All of their root crops have been destroyed and they will have no form of income for at least 3-6 months.

We have been preaching the gospel here for years. When we showed up with the relief, there were tears, and much thanksgiving. The wall is already coming down.  Our sole aim will be preaching of the gospel, that their hearts will have become open and tender as they receive the greatest gift, salvation…. Blessings,  Kory Mears”

Kory wrote in a newsletter his first impressions of the area that was once their church and ministry site.

“Yesterday a group of us travelled to the village of Barotu to visit Pastor Nikola and Barotu Baptist Church, a ministry we established 17 years ago. The drive to the village was one of shock after shock. The only way I can describe the scenery was like a nuclear bomb had exploded. The jungle looked like the aftermath of a forest fire with only the broken trunks of trees showing. Village after village had been decimated.”

Kory has put together this budget for use to help those who wish to give.

“We are raising:

$3000 for relief – Food, Water, Kerosene Lamps, Sanitary Needs

$2000 for tools for the building projects.

$5000 – to rebuild the completely destroyed house seen in the letter.

$10000 – to rebuild the church that was destroyed.

Thank you so much for helping us in this relief.   Bro. Kory Mears”

We have others who also will need help.   This has been a difficult situation for the church and those in the villages.  Operation Renewed Hope by faith will start support.

Figi Update

Saturday, February 27, 2016

Dear Friends,

Missionary Paul Daku has written the following to us about the disaster work in Fiji.  They are presently returning to the Islands where their sons are currently holding the ministry in their absence.  As I spoke with him on the phone, I was impressed with his compassion for the people and their need of Christ.  Please read Paul’s report.

“When we get back to Fiji,  we will meet with sons Paul, Jr and Scott to come up with a plan on how to best meet the needs of those affected by the storm.  We will need to assess the damages and needs.  We do know that the village where we are establishing a new church was very hard hit. (Raki Raki Village.)  We saw an aerial view that showed only the church and school still standing.  We will definitely want to minister to those people in particular.  We will want to help a couple families from the church who lost their homes and maybe others. We hope to make up packets to include some food and household items, as well as a Bible and tracts.  (We still have a number of Bibles left from the Fiji Bible distribution two years ago, that we will be giving out.)  It is our hope to minister to the spiritual needs of the people as we show Christ's love through tangible gifts.  We are praying the people will have tender hearts and be more receptive to the gospel than ever before.  Scot reported that a 24-year-old lady from Raki Raki visited our church around Christmas time and accepted Christ.  She was one who lost her life during the storm.

Please pray for wisdom in all of this and pray for safety as we travel back, leaving Saturday, (tomorrow), from Pennsylvania.  Pray that the hearts of Fijians will turn to Christ through this time of trial.  In the service of the King,  Paul & Martha Daku”

The initial information for proper work is vital.  The key is that we do not forget to help.  This is crucial.   Pray as ORH commits the initial funds to help begin the restoration and spiritual ministries.

ORH thanks Tabernacle Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, Pastor Melvin Aiken, for sending contact information and all those who have initiated these efforts.
