"Sandy" Report Post 24

"Sandy" Update

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Dear Friends;

Below is a communication from Pastor Matt Recker about his work in Sandy. I hope you will share his report with every one you can. This is the Bible in shoe-leather. This is bearing one another's burdens. It is my great PRIVILEGE to work with these wonderful brothers who are standing by and with the people hurt in "Sandy." both in the church and community.

“Hello, Jan,
Forgive me for not responding more promptly to your request.
Thank you for your recent gift to those in our church who continue to have
great needs because of Sandy.
We feel that the needs are now most right before us, in those we know in our
church congregation. Two of our families hard hit, Victor and Stacy Chan
(restaurant in the South Street Seaport) have basically no income and are
really struggling. We gave $1000 to them. We also purchased a very
excellent air purifier for Gracia Blyden, who lost everything in her
basement condominium, and Leon Lyons and his home/day care center in Far
Rockaway. We also replaced Gracia's washer/dryer which was lost in the
flood. Finally, we gave $1000 to the Lyons' family as they seek to get back
on their feet financially, to assist with their household bills, payments,
food and expenses. They have three children and one on the way, and are
quite overwhelmed.
Thank you again for your help. Below is an email from Victor Chan of thanks
for our assistance to him.
Sincerely in Christ, Matthew Recker”

This is a thank you letter from the family mentioned in Pastor Recker's email above. It is always a blessing to get emails like this one.

"Dear Pastor
Thank you so much and to all the supporting churches and congregations for
their generous support.
I have to say that these have been the most trying times for me and my
family thus far.

All of you have seriously eased our burdens, lifted our spirits and renewed
our faith!

The support has gone to help pay our household bills, as well toward the pay
of a few key employees we need to keep on. It has been a tremendous blessing
to our family, not only financially but emotionally as well, to know someone
else truly cares for us!
I appreciate you checking in on me and for the continuous prayers.
Gratefully, Victor"

I hope this was a real blessing. More reports are coming as we finish projects.

Pray for Pastor Baker as he meets all codes for his new building. ORH just sent $1780.00 to pay the architect finishing all legal requirements for Victory Baptist so the local government will be satisfied. This is very important. The Christian should always demonstrate submission to government authorities tasked with the care of the community.

Pray for Pastor Watkins as he works with the people of Staten Island who are in need. Operation Renewed Hope is sending more money to help him with the community victims.

God is doing great things.

"Sandy" Relief Post 23

"Sandy" Update

Monday January 7, 2013

Dear Friends,

ORH is happy to announce the production of a video of the work in Sandy. This video will be available in the next two weeks for shipment. If you would like to give a blessing, order these videos for your church or for family members. One video is provided free of charge. Please contact us at our email orhus@aol.com.

This is a message from Nate Watkins working with the Staten Island impact area. It is wonderful to hear of their work at Christmas time with the children in the communities impacted by "Sandy."

"Just a quick note to let you know that with the $1,000 spent for Christmas presents for kids, was a real blessing to 13 families and about 21 kids.

Also, we have continued to work with several of the families that we helped with the initial load of relief blankets, food, water, bleach, etc.. And, I recently had the joy of leading the parents in one of those homes to know the Lord! Praise Him! Thank-you for all the help you have channeled thru us... though it has significantly increased our work load :) it has been a joy and it has enabled us to help so many people, and in many ways that we could not have done otherwise.  May the Lord continue to bless your ministry, Nate Watkins="

Pastor Watkins and his wife have a love for the people that they work with.

ORH received this very nice email update from Pastor Jim Bickel.

"Dear Bro. Milton,
We have had the sheetrock tapers in and they’ve completed the job. We’re now finishing the painting. Thank you for the $2000 you sent to use for this part of the task. I can’t wait for you to see the finished product when you’re with us on Feb. 9. Pastor Jim Bickel"

Pastor Bickel and his congregation have put together care boxes for families and distributed them to the community around them. They have been actively engage with their community since the "Sandy" iimpact.
