SEA HOPE - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED AND JESUS LIFTED UP!

It is a great feeling to complete a mission and completed it well.

Captain Puryear and his crew have done this. In the last few updates, ORH has told you of a Covid19 food drop to a Caribbean Island. The island was Haiti.

Mission for Haiti an organization based in Greenville, SC helped ORH and Anchor Baptist Mission to deliver 20 tons of rice to Pastor Cherubin of Hosanna Baptist Church and Pastor Jerome who pastors on the northern side of Haiti.

Pastor Cherubin was able to do all the paperwork necessary for customs. Daniel Jones, PA, ORH Assistant to the Director, sent ORH from the boat the words of Pastor Cherubin.

"...this will feed many children that have been going without meals."

Captain Puryear wrote the following:

"The 800 bags of rice have over 400,000 servings.  Each bag is 504 servings."

Sarah Bennett with Mission for Haiti sent ORH this message

"Pastor Jan, words will fail us in our ability to express our massive thanks for the shipment of rice to Haiti!! It's been almost two years now that extreme inflation and food shortages (not to mention Covid) have devastated the livelihood of so many families. This rice is a life-saver for many, many families!! May God bless abundantly each person who had a part in this project!!"

This boat can be used to evangelize the Caribbean, Latin America, and South America with the compassion of Christ and the only hope for mankind, the message of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. Please pray for this eventuality.

A MESSAGE FROM VICTORY BAPTIST CHURCH - PASTOR WAYNE DARTEZ

Dr. Wayne Dartez is an exceptional man. Although his own house and church are damaged, he has been faithful to take resources and help others. ORH is grateful for his efforts to help others without complaint.

Please read his message and then volunteer to help men and women like this. Pastor Dartez sent the following message to ORH.

"At a time of such crisis as this, items of restoration are critical for life. However, as the name implies, Operation Renewed Hope , under the direction of Jan Milton, has allowed Victory Baptist to become a beacon of renewal and hope in this community. We have been able to encourage, restore, pray with and love hundreds of families that we might otherwise have never met. We will see them again as we follow up in future visits. Thank you for making it possible!"

Please, we need your prayers for God to send forth laborers into this harvest. Pastor Dartez, his wife, and congregation have worked very hard to meet the needs of the communities around their church.

He told ORH that they gave Gospel tracts, John and Romans, Bibles; and often, were able to give a personal gospel witness to those who came to their church for help.

This is our time to demonstrate the compassion of Christ with our hands.

SHORTLY, INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE GOING TO SETTLE. IT IS USUALLY NOT ENOUGH.

PLEASE, CONSIDER HELPING. PASTOR DARTEZ AND HIS CHURCH ARE GOING TO NEED HELP! THEY HAVE GREAT DAMAGE.

GOD BLESS,

FROM THE ORH FAMILY AROUND THE WORLD

SEA HOPE OFF-LOADS IN HAITI

Captain Buddy Puryear and his crew aboard SEA HOPE have accomplished the largest "Christ-Compassion Effort" ORH has ever been privileged to engage.

The Captain by God's grace moved 20 tons of rice from a port in Alabama to Bible believing churches in Haiti.  The 8 day journey at sea was not without its challenges.

PRAISE TO OUR GREAT GOD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!  MAY HE ALWAYS BE LIFTED UP BEFORE THE NATIONS.

ORH is convinced that this can be repeated in other island nations. SEA HOPE must sail. It must sail with medical teams, gospel teams, food supplies, and much more.

Nice Weather

Fri Sep 18 2020

Underway from Bayou La Batre yesterday at 2 pm local. Weather was great with very light winds. This morning seas are very calm with some overcast. Boat is riding well and all are settling into our underway routine. Headed to Stock Island Florida (next to Key West)

First Full Day at Sea

Sat Sep 19 2020

We completed our first full day at sea, and it was a good day. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous. We stopped for a short swim call about 75 nm off the coast. Then we tested putting our small boat into the water and recovering it. We learned a few lessons but overall it went well. The boat is running like it should. We figured out a few things with the autopilot but what an improvement it has made. Lord willing, we should get to Stock Island tomorrow morning.

A ministry on the island nation wrote the following report.

"Hi everyone, I am so happy to announce to you that Pastor has started the process to get authorization for the shipment. Very soon, we should receive the official paper to make it possible. Keep praying so our first shipment experience can go smoothly.... Josue"

WINDOWS OF HEAVEN TEAM REPORT

Windows of Heaven provided a building team for 9/13 - 9/18. Retired pastor, Guy Altizer, is the director of Windows of Heaven and is affiliated with Calvary Baptist Church in Simpsonville South Carolina. Read the first report from the team.

"Bro Jan, we made it and have helped two people today.

Margaret Vincent - We took her tree down and that was all we were able to do. She went to the hospital I guess last night or this morning with dehydration. We were not able to do anything else with her place.

Stephanie Smith - They had some serious widow maker trees that we spent the rest of the day on. We will be there for about a half a day still tomorrow, and then Lord willing we will be able to go meet Pastor Avera from Calvary and touch base with him tomorrow.

We met Pastor Harrel with Grace Baptist. They are waiting on insurance adjusters so can’t do much on their church.

This place is just devastated. It’s so easy for these people to be so discouraged  It’s just like “ where do we start “ it’s so bad. Just an update for now. Mark Goldfuss"

Mark Goldfuss works with Windows of Heaven as their lead planner of construction. We need more teams!

    ROOF DESTRUCTION

Dear Bro Jan,

Here are the pictures from Sulphur Louisiana and our trip.  We primarily helped two churches.  Grace Baptist with Pastor Arvin Harrell and Calvary Baptist with Pastor Steve Avera.  We were able to help Pastor Steve at his house with putting back up some siding and removing the church gutters that were still in good shape for the roofers to come in and tare off the shingles and replace them.  We help three of his members 1) take down a tree and replace here porch steps  (pictures shown) 2) take down widow maker limbs,(pictures) replace porch columns and rehang a mail box, 3) cut down 5 trees that had the tops of the trees just hanging.

We were able to stay at Pastor Harrells and he had a large tree go through his back porch roof.  Huge hole in the roof (pictures) so we were able to take off his whole back porch (pictures) and tarp everything back in (pictures).  He has a member that needs a tree cut up but it’s a fairly dangerous job. The tree limb is as big as most trees and is still leaning on the tree.  If someone has some heavy equipment it would be a safer and much easier job.

We did make one more stop at Vincent Baptist church and talked with in-term Pastor Brad McKelvey (picture).  In the picture he needs a crew to gut out the sanctuary.  He has power and accommodations at the church with places to sleep (bringing your own air mattresses ) and a kitchen and showers    He can house 12-15 probably.  He has a roofing crew coming from Houston And they are bringing the crew and Materials to fix their roofs (picture).

There are plenty of needs( some of the other random pictures)  but I will say that it may still be a bit early for construction crews.  Insurance adjusters have not done or gotten back with the people yet.   When we were there we only saw 2 roofs being reroofed.  Most people still waiting on money.  I would say in the next 2 weeks most of those details will be worked out and people will have money for their materials.  As far as Sheetrock crews, they are probably a month or more  out yet for anything like that to happen.  Hope this helps.  There is plenty of people that just plain need help cleaning up and what not.  They won’t turn down the help.

We certainly enjoyed our time there and wish we could have stayed longer.

Thank you for the opportunity to help serve others.

Mark Goldfuss

SEA HOPE - GOD IS GOOD!

About 2 years ago, Captain Buddy Puryear, Jan Milton, and Rick Williamson met in a North Carolina diner to discuss a new ministry, SEA HOPE.
Shortly thereafter, Buddy Puryear and Jan Milton made a presentation to businessmen about purchasing a boat to conduct gospel and mercy missions in the Caribbean. From this meeting came the purchase of SEA HOPE.
Currently, Captain Puryear is engaged in a COVID 19 food mission. ORH has provided $7000.00 for fuel, and $7700.00 for food. Anchor Baptist Missions is also joining with $7700.00 for food, man power, and transportation of the food to the boat.
A ministry on an island nation is also working to clear the customs and to distribute the food properly to churches.
Captain Puryear is a man who trusts God. His greatest help is his First Mate, Mary his wife. She has worked physically and proven faithful all through this effort. Her faith has never wavered.
The mission will set sail very soon weather permitting. Pray this mission is successful.

WINDOWS OF HEAVEN BUILDING TEAM LEAVES SOUTH CAROLINA FOR LOUISIANA.
Windows of heaven is a wonderful organization. Pastor Guy Altizer started this ministry after his pastorate at Calvary Baptist Church in Simpsonville South Carolina. The ministry is dedicated to helping raise funds for missionaries and people in need.
Windows of Heaven began raising money for the work in hurricane Laura impact area. ORH just received this message from Pastor Altizer.
"I will be sending $1700.00 for LA Food. I answered the phone after you hung up and the man that was calling gave $500.00!...."
"Check is in the mail. Thanks, Bro. Guy."
Mark Goldfuss works with Windows of Heaven as their lead planner of construction. Pastor Altizer sent ORH the pictures of the Windows of Heaven team traveling to various countries.
Although Pastor Altizer, will not be able to go. Mark and the Windows of Heaven team will travel to hurricane Laura impact area to help individuals and churches rebuild.
Operation Renewed Hope is thankful to work with such skilled people. Please pray for them as they travel and labor. Thank God for Calvary Baptist Church, Simpsonville!

Report from Pastor Will Cover, Arise Baptist Church.

We are helping Victory Baptist Church in Lake Charles and Vincent Baptist Church in Sulphur.

We have 25 from our church working here today. One team of ladies is helping the pastor's wife pack all of her belongings. Their home suffered a lot of damage and they have to move everything out to make repairs.

We have another team cooking and serving hotdogs to the community.

We have a team working to distribute food in the community and a team working out of a food pantry at the church. Two of our boys are serving cold water to the folks as they come in. Everyone who comes hears the gospel and we already had one couple trust Christ. We are able to connect them to the pastor and help them get into this church.

We have a team doing cleanup around the church property of trees and other debris.

Our final team is working at Vincent Baptist tarping their roof and cleaning up around the property.

There is so much need for help. Just coming and helping to clean up at this point. For these churches they haven't even started to rebuild yet. That is still to come. Seeing the tired, sweaty smiles and and hearing one man say today that if he had died in the storm he would have gone to Hell. He prayed to receive Christ today! I am thankful for how God uses storms to save people!

Destruction in Louisiana - Opportunity to Elevate Jesus

Something to pray about....  These pictures represent people in great need.  Some are church members, but many need Jesus.

Galatians 6:9–10

9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

ORH - EXPERIENCES IN "LAURA" AREA

OPERATION RENEWED HOPE

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 1, 2020

ORH NEEDS HELP IN THE "LAURA" IMPACT AREA.

ORH is seeking a "pull behind" cooker for preparing food for returning people. If you have a good "pull behind" that you could donate, the Gospel could go to hundreds in the coming days. It must be in extremely good condition for testimony sake.
ORH has generators in the Lakeland, FL, area that must be moved to the "Laura" impact area. The generators are palletized and will require a box truck.
ORH NEEDS GOSPEL TEAMS, DEMOLITION WORKERS, CARPENTERS, ROOFERS, SHEET ROCK WORKERS.
ORH NEEDS INDIVIDUALS FOR REBUILDING EFFORTS.
I CAN HELP!
ARISE BAPTIST CHURCH - IMMEDIATE RESPONCE
Arise Baptist Church - Pastor Will Cover - has taken a first trip into the Louisiana area of Lake Charles.
The "Arise Team" met with Dr. Greg Lentz, Hearts with Hands, whose food truck was there to distribute food to the churches. As a result of "Arise Team" efforts with food distribution, a lady received the Lord Jesus.
ORH is investing money in food with Hearts with Hands. Two more trucks should be arriving today. With distribution of the food, also, goes the Gospel. We must get the message out now. Consider helping
If you know of anyone in the impact area needing help, please CONTACT ORH, so we can HELP them.
I CAN HELP!
GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH - DAMAGED BY STILL AFLOAT
A church does not choose its area of ministry. A church is established where God's people are. Sometimes those churches are in harm's way as they minister the Gospel and edification.
I hope that you will help ORH minister to these hurting churches in harms way. Laura left so many churches and homes damaged. Thank God for the Church in harms way.
Pastor Will Cover from Arise Baptist Church in Houston, TX, sent the following reports by text today. His church is ministering to the churches in harms way.
"Pictures from Grace Baptist in Sulphur, LA. House of one church member needs tree cleanup. We are helping here. The group from Arise Baptist and Helmer's Street Baptist in Houston here to work for the day."
I CAN HELP!
VINCENT BAPTIST CHURCH - NEEDS A PASTOR
Pastor Will cover walks with a member of Vincent Baptist Church surveying the damage.
Pastor Cover wrote the following:
"Vincent Baptist Church. Established in 1886. Currently in need of a pastor. We are working with the retired pastor and some of the members. Will need a new roof. No insurance currently."
Possibly, you know someone who desires to be a pastor. Contact ORH so a connection can be made.
The church needs volunteers to help seal its buildings from further water damage.
Pray about helping, and then go as
God leads.
I CAN HELP!
