West Virginia Update

Thursday, June 30, 2016

Dear Friends,

It is hard to give an update because so much is being done by the wonderful people with whom  ORH partners.  I will do my best to make the most sense possible out of the chaotic and discouraging things that they are experiencing.

Guy Altizer, board member of ORH and director of Windows of Heaven Ministries, has sent a message to ORH which he received after being in the impact area and even doing a news broadcast for a local TV station.  Go to Guy Altizer’s facebook page if you would like to see the TV interview.

“NEED: Pastor is Shawn Davis. Church and parsonage flooded!”

ORH has made contact and we are now waiting for a response from the pastor.  In many cases, we are able to send money to stabilize such a situation.

Pastor Alan Jenkins’ of Nehemiah’s Network, Columbia Road Baptist Church, Cleveland, OH was sending texts to ORH at 10 pm and later last night, 06/29/2016.  We are sending them in the order we received them.

“Draining day.  My goodness the loss!

I have a full day lined up tomorow to take pictures and meet people. Going to do some work in Rupert. I heard that many older people are still in houses that have wet furniture

Pastor just called from Clay and said they have no food in Birch run.   I am going to stop at a supply distribution and see if they will let me take a load of supplies…. Many stores here are short on supplies.

Please pray as tomorrow I will be going to these towns; Clay, Birch Run and Rupert. I spent today in Lewisburg and Ranelle.

Please encourage whoever you can to donate funds or supplies as this need is very great and widespread. Direct Line Ministries has been such a blessing in getting our load here and now picking up a load of can goods in South Carolina for Nehemiah's Network and delivering it to Clay, West Va. for us, and then back to Cleveland to take another load for us. I know that CRBC has gone above and beyond, so please reach out to your friends and organizations to give. Please pray I have not seen something this bad for a long time. I am in constant contact with Operation Renewed Hope and Bro Milton is working trying to help with his supporters who are being very helpful.”

Pastor Jenkins is filling has van with food and other needs for delivery.  Paul Deem with Direct Line Ministries, Coolville, OH is delivering 6,500 lbs of food to the church in Birch Run.  Pray they will have safe travel in the truck and delivery.  Thank you, Pastor Medlin, Faith Baptist Church, St Matthews, SC.

Another faithful ministry of helps during disaster events is Greg Rife with Restore Ministries.  Greg is a long-time friend and partner in these times when people are suffering.  He is going to try to help Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church which received substantial damage to most of its facilities.  He writes the following.

“We at RMI feel that God has led us to fund, provide volunteers, and lead the reconstruction of the 2 staff parsonages as an initial response.  The assistant pastor’s lower level has been gutted and will be ready for remodel as soon as it is dried out.  The youth pastor’s home, which received more extensive damage, will either be a larger project or we may tear the entire house down due to its condition.”

He just wrote in the last few minutes this report also.

“Any news on money for Mount Pleasant Baptist yet?  I’ve got a team going July 8 thru 18 to work on parsonages and do some preliminary work on camp.  I’d like to have $25,000 in hand by July 8th.  Looks like I’ve got about $7400 today.”

Pastor Gordon Dickson of Calvary Baptist Church in Findlay, OH, wrote us the following.

“AACS Schools and State Offices,  One of the blessings of being part of the body of Christ and part of the American Association of Christian Schools is the opportunity to help like-minded ministries when they have a need. Heavy rains and flooding in West Virginia have severely damaged the properties of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and Elk Valley Christian School in Elkview, West Virginia. Please read the following note from Jerry Fisher, the executive director of the West Virginia Christian Education Association, and consider what your ministry can do to assist.”

West Virginia Update

Wednesday, June 29, 2016

Dear Friends,

ORH has wonderful people who work with ORH to do good for the glory of God the Father (Matt 5:16)

Dr. Guy Altizer is a faithful board member and also founder of Windows of Heaven Ministries.  ORH often has opportunity to partner with his very great ministry.  This last few days he has been in West Virginia helping us with the recovery efforts there.  Please read his current report

On June 28th, our ORH representative was in Rainelle, WVA, which is the epicenter of the recent devastating flood.  While he was surveying the damage, he met Mrs. Dorrine Goddard.  She is the elderly widow of Pastor Eddy Goddard who pastored Sewell Valley Baptist Church for 10 years. Her home was severely damaged and furnishings were destroyed. If you would like to help with the restoration of her home and the replacement of her belongings, please help her by donating to the ORH WVA disaster fund.

Operation Renewed Hope wishes to work to repair this lady’s home.  Her information came to us through Paul Rowland of Berea Baptist Church in Palm Harbor, FL.  This lady and several other people are in need in the same area.

An organization, who strips-out the damage of a flooded home, has agreed to help Mrs. Goddard.  After they strip-out and demolish all the damaged areas of the home, ORH would like to have groups of 3 or 4 men go to her home and sheetrock all the stripped-out walls.

ORH needs 3 or 4 churches to raise about $2500.00 to $3000.00 each.  The church would then send 3 to 4 people on a team using the $2500.00-$3000.00 to buy the sheetrock materials and install the materials.

If a church cannot find the people to do the work, ORH can match churches with $2500.00 with churches who have workers.   We hope you will consider this project.  This lady needs the help.

The work in Mt. Pleasant is on-going.  This is a report from Byron Foxx.

On Thursday June 24 a flood of historic proportions took place in Elkview, WV. Since records have been kept (1888) there has never been water levels at this height!  Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Elkview, WV, with Pastor Lee Swor, suffered enormous losses to their buildings, equipment, busses, vans, Christian School, Christian Camp, Parsonages…and the list goes on. This gospel preaching, Bible believing, church has over 60 ministries, including outreach to the addicted and homeless.  Help has been coming in forms of manual labor to clean the debris, remove the pews (total loss) and make skilled assessments, and plans for the future.  Evangelist Byron Foxx and Evangelist Greg Lentz have brought help from their staff and organizations.  By the grace of God, and the help of many local pastors, the church is still going forward! Services were held on Sunday June 27 outside on the church grounds. Several were saved!   Much help is still needed!

Please, go directly to Brother Foxx’s website, www.helpmpbc.com.

We are presently waiting for a report from Greg Rife, Restore Ministries about projects in which ORH and Restore Ministries can partner to help the people of WV.

Pastor Alan Jenkins, Nehemiah’s Network, arrived in WV with cleaning supplies about 1:00 PM, June 29.  Paul Deem with Direct Line ministries is close behind with more supplies to be distributed.  Pray for their safety.

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.

West Virginia Floods and Pakistan Blessing

Saturday, June 25, 2016

Dear Friends,

Once again, the need is present for God’s people to supply help to others.  In West Virginia, real devastation and heart ache has occurred from massive flooding.  Please download the attachment from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Elkville, WV.  In the PDF, Pastor Lee Swor has poured-out his heart explaining the destruction that he and his church family are experiencing.  They have never faced anything like this.

Also, ORH is reporting the blessing in Pakistan which your donations made possible.  Please download the pictures and rejoice.  We hope to do the same as a result of our coming work in West Virginia.

Evangelist Byron Foxx has been working relentlessly in the devastation area for over 35 hours.  His efforts have led to the contact with Pastor Swor.  Please pray for this good man of God who is seeking God’s blessing on the people at Mt. Pleasant.  Brother Foxx has created a website, www. Helpmpbc.com, which will give you great detail of the situation.  Thank you Brother Foxx.

ORH says thank you to Pastor Alan Jenkins of Nehemiah’s network at Columbia Road Baptist Church, Cleveland, OH, who is delivering a truck of supplies to Anstead Baptist Church in Anstead, WV, for use in the disaster area.  Paul Deem with Direct Line Ministries in Coolville, OH, will be making the delivery.  Both ministries are always a blessing to disasters in the United States.

Also, ORH wishes to thank Pastor Ernie Medlin and the congregation of Faith Baptist Church in St. Matthews, SC for their donation of a great amount of food for the people of West Virginia.  Pastor Alan Jenkins and he are making plans for the delivery of the food.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose.

God bless,

Jan Milton

Ethiopia 2016 and Boot Camp 2016

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Dear Friends,

Thank you for you wonderful response to our appeal for Ethiopia.  We still need medical people, but so many have written about going to evangelize and heal.  It overwhelms our hearts.

The 2016 boot camp was a great success at the Wilds in Brevard, NC.

This is a picture of the helicopter safety training with Scott Fowler of Shadow Hawk in Greenville, SC.  He gave a marvelous training program for the youth.  Each member of the group received a certificate of training for their 2 and ½ hour training session.

Berean Baptist Church in Florence, SC, Pastor Don Kirkham, sent 17 of their people to attend the rigorous and developmental training.  The impact spiritually was so strong and sweet.  Young people surrendered to “spend and be spent” for Christ.  Some are already surrendering to medical teams for the near future.

The group lived in out-areas of the Wilds woods in tents and ate over an open fire for five days.  They learned to respect the tenacity of people around the world who live in undeveloped conditions.

Their day began at 6 AM and did not finish until 9:30 to 10:00 pm.  The schedule did not allow for any free moment from training and development.  The professionals who train them work relentlessly to help them see the United States is a “bubble world,” and they must become more aware of personal dependence on God for physical endurance, accommodations, food, and purpose.

The emphasis is that we endure hardship like a good soldier, so we can reach the world with the gospel.  They are trained in Red Cross First Aid and CPR.  They also receive clinic, dental, and optometry training from our professionals.

I hope that you will pray about attending our next boot camp in Greenville, SC, June 26, 2017.  It will be our first boot camp on ORH’s own property.  It could become the highlight of your developing Christian life.  Please contact our email, jan@operationrenewedhope.org, and let us know that you would like information.  We can send references on request.

ANNOUNCING ETHIOPIA MEDICAL CLINIC

Monday, June 13, 2016

Dear Friends,

ORH is making an urgent appeal.

The Ethiopian medical officials have given us clearance to conduct a clinic with a group of solid, good churches.

Rick Williamson, ORH Clinic Planner, has made the initial trip to Ethiopia, and the missionary, Nader Barraty, and the churches are completely committed.

The clinic will go into the capitol city October 22-30, 2016.

The government is projecting at least 1000 or more patients per day at the clinic.  This would be massive, but so important for people to hear the gospel.

We have 4 medical doctors and care-givers committed.  We need at least 6 more.

We have 3 dentists committed to go.  We need at least 2 or 3 more.

We do not have anyone to dispense glasses.

We need at least 10 more nurses, possibly 15 more.

We need at least 25 more non-medical staff.

If we cannot achieve full staffing, we will have to abort this mission.  PLEASE, DO NOT ALLOW THIS.  Help ORH give the gospel through the works of your hands.

All churches and pastors that receive this, please announce it in your congregations.  Medical professionals call your medical friends and encourage them.

Form a group from your church and contact ORH.

Anyone interested in the slightest, please email Rick Williamson at rwilliamson@teamorh.com or Jan Milton at jan@operationrenewedhope.org.

Do not allow money to stop you.

ORH needs help!!!
