Fiji Update

Friday, February 26, 2016

Dear Friends,

ORH through many people has received good information about Fiji.  Pastor Roy Delia of New Hope Baptist Church sent us information about missionary Jason Moore.  Pastor Larry Tenant, Pastor Guy Altizer, and several other people have sent us information.  Please read his report by Jason Moore.  ORH has contacted him about helping.

“Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,  As always thank you for your prayers.  I know that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much, and there is certainly much that needs to be effectually prayed for here in Fiji.  We were able to make it out to some of the villages on the country side north of Suva yesterday.  There is no language that has words to describe the destruction that we have seen.  Most villages are destroyed.  Fiji, a lush rainforest of vegetation and fruitfulness is entirely laid waste.  The jungle itself is no more.  Where once was a canopy of beautiful trees is nothing more than bare and broken stumps.  We visited Barotu Village where there is an Independent Baptist Church, Pastored by a national Fijian man.  All that remains is the foundation.  Several of the families from the church have lost everything.  Their houses gone, their crops destroyed, their livelihoods gone, their church building gone, some have even lost their loved ones to this storm.  I know that there is an "official" death count being reported by the media, but it is far greater than those reports.  The villagers have buried their dead and will have to mourn later as survival is their priority now.  Praise the Lord, we were able to bring some food to the village, not only for the church families but for as many as we could in Barotu Village.  We will continue to do what we can, not only in Barotu, but wherever and however the Lord leads us, including rebuilding the church, and the homes of those church families who have nothing, as well as helping others in these villages as we have opportunity.  I have attached some pictures although they cannot accurately portray the reality of the damage and destruction, and the sorrow and suffering Fiji is experiencing.  Please continue to pray, I know that our Saviour's strength is made perfect in weakness, and these people need to know this as well.  God bless.  Vinaka Vake Levu,  Bro. Jason Moore”

We want to thank the many who have made such a strong effort to get information to us about the missionaries and people in Fiji.  We currently have contacted Missionary Michael Ball and Paul Daku.  They also are directing us to many who are in need of assistance.  As soon as possible, they hope to have information to us.  ORH has committed $3000.00 of help at this time.

All have assured us they will give the gospel to the people.

Please download the pdf pictures of the disaster that Jason Moore is facing.
