Mission For Haiti struggles with starvation - Post 1

Tuesday October 29, 2013

Dear Praying Friend,
Below you will read an email from Tom as Sarah Bennett of Mission for Haiti.  Mrs. Bennett contacted me prior to my departure to Uganda for the Islands of Lake Victoria.  ORH sent $1000.00 for the initial work to save these lives.  We would like to send more.  Possibly you can help.
Please read the message below from MFH.
“Hi Jan,
Below is a clip from my November prayer letter. Thank you for helping Hosanna Ministries.
“Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.” (Psalm 41:1)"
Hosanna Baptist Church, our church-plants, and our sister churches were given an opportunity to minister to a distant mountain community called Baie d'Orange (about 3½ hours away). The Jacmel health department was.sent word that there were those suffering from acute malnutrition and some dying of hunger. (Terrible erosion caused by hurricanes has taken its toll and destroyed hundreds of crops.)
The health department dispatched vehicles, and hours later returned to the Jacmel hospital with 48 infants and children who were severely undernourished and suffering from related problems. Pastor Dieupie was notified of this.  Immediately, he sent out an SOS to all Hosanna churches to start collecting food items to be donated to these desperate families.
MFH and ORH (Operation Renewed Hope) were notified of this also. ORH has come alongside us and contributed funds to purchase food. The Hosanna churches have joined forces to make peanut butter and to purchase milk, rice, beans, and other nutritious foods. They have put together over 200 boxes of food to send to Bair d’Orange. Along with the food, Gospel tracts are being distributed, and open-air meetings are being held. It has been a blessing to Pastor Dieupie and MFH to see how Hosanna folks have responded to this emergency."
