Hurricane Dorian

Wednesday, September 4, 2019

Dear Friends,

HURRICANE DORIAN

ORH is thankful for people who risk their lives to serve and support others in loss after a major disaster.  Dave Spangler, “Flyn4God”, and the pilots he secures for ORH Air Hope are such Christians.  Dave has worked in the Bahamas for years, even starting a small Bible College to train the pastors.

He has directed our efforts through the air for years.  He has written the following to us.

“Good Morning Dr. Jan,  This is to inform you and your folks the Churches we are working with in Abaco Bahamas.  Pastor Robin Waterford (sp) pastors two churches in Marsh Harbour, one is a Haitian ministry and both are sound Baptistic churches preaching the Gospel.  Pastor Randy Crow has pastored New Life Bible Church on Man-O-War Cay which is also a Baptistic church preaching the gospel. Pastor Randy also has a ministry "Island Outreach" reaching out to encourage other pastors of like faith.  We will be showing the love of Jesus Christ to the communities there through those churches.  Our first trip will be as soon as the airport is open and our round-trip expenses are apx. $1,000.00.  Thank you and your folks for your help.  God bless, Dave, Flyn4God”

Hearts with Hands, Ashville, NC, has in place a 53’ trailer of food supplies and much more for the work in Abaco, Bahamas.  This organization has one of the longest histories of relief work in a church environment of any ministry I know.  It has been the pleasure of ORH to work with them over the years.  They are willing to supply the goods, if ORH can find transportation.

ORH thanks the following ministries for joining with us in ministry – First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake, FL, Pastor Marc Mortensen; Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Gordon Dickson; Faith Baptist Church, St Matthews, SC, Pastor Ernie Medlin; Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Andrew Haney; Faith Baptist Church, Pastor David Harris; and more.  THANK YOU!

Dear Friends,

HURRICANE DORIAN

The storm has broken away north by northeast in direction and appears to be headed for South Carolina and North Carolina.

ORH has arranged to work with Anchor Baptist Relief from North Carolina, which is Anchor Baptist Church, Dr. Randy Barton.  We have worked with them since 2004.

“Bro. Milton, I know you are familiar with the Anchor Baptist Disaster Network.  We have worked almost every major storm since Hugo.

Our goal is to have a load staged and ready to go but the funds are low.  We currently can buy a load of food for $19,000 plus shipping and have it staged and ready to go.

We have a Church that is ready to receive and distribute for the glory of GOD.   Michael Blanton, Director of Disaster Operations, Anchor Baptist Disaster Network”

Also, Pastor Guy Altizer with Windows of Heaven Ministries, Greenville, South Carolina, sent the following message.

“Keep me posted as to how we can help. Calvary (Calvary Baptist, Simpsonville, SC) is collecting water and paper supplies today and I am prepared to take them to Carl (Carl Wood, Anchor Baptist Church, Little River, SC) when needed. I offered Carl a place for some of his people that may evacuate, and I offered him to find other places for people to stay. I am waiting on word from him. Bro. Guy.”

Please pray that ORH will have the money to buy food, water, and supplies.  Pray that we can find good, strong churches in the storm impact area who loves ministry to the lost.

Dear Friends,

HURRICANE MICHAEL – VICTORY BAPTIST/TED WEINBERG

KASESE, UGANDA – PASTOR ZEBEDEE’S MOUNTAIN SCHOOL

Pastor Zebedee has a mountain school just a small way from Kasese where ORH conducted a clinic for Matt Stensaas.  Pastor Zebedee and his congregation on the mountain attended, and Pastor Zebedee helped with the clinic.

“Hello Sir, i want to submit my humble request to you and your team,  we have a greatest need at our church school, our school pupils are not having some furniture to seat on in class and I am having 300 kids and they don't seat comfortable they write on thighs , so I am praying about buying 75 desks and each desk seats on 4 pupils/ students.  So if you can get some one who may be willing to help that would be a big and huge blessing. And each desk costs 22$ . Thank you God bless you, and the work you are doing.”

PANAMA BLESSING HELPING MARTITA

Friday, August 9, 2019

Dear Friends,

Caisan, Panama; Martita’s Care

While doing a clinic in Caisan, Panama, in October 2018, our doctors were asked to come to a villager’s home to help a woman in distress after a surgery.  Her home was a lean-to tarp structure against a home.  ORH doctors got involved with Martita; she had bladder surgery, and her bladder had been “nicked” allowing urine to escape.  ORH family members immediately went to work to help Martita and her daughters.

Jim Childress working with Pastor Roderick de Garcia led our October 2018 medical clinic where Martita’s medical and housing problems were discovered.  They continued to help her and sent us a report.

“While waiting on a site to build a room.  With limited medical attention, Martita has recuperated 90% of normal body functions that did not exist when she met our medical doctors and our church.  We are also helping the daughters with funds for legal documents and materials they can make handcraft things to sell.”

“So far, we have spent $1792.50 not counting some minor expenses and a few medicines.  We are very grateful for the participation of Operation Renewed Hope.  Martita now experiences a higher quality of life than what she had experienced.  But still has a long way to go to have a normal living experience.

Please download the attachment with pictures and a lengthier report.  We are thankful for Pastor Roderick, and ORH sends support so he can follow-up the spiritual impact at the Caisan Clinic of 2018.  He and Jim Childress are great blessings to the work of ORH.

If you wish to give by credit or debitcard, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

ALBANIA AND UGANDA

Friday, August 2, 2019

Dear Friends,

ALBANIA BLESSINGS

God’s people are gracious and kind when supporting those working for the Lord.  In an update about Albania, ORH reported about Andi and Irda working with Michael Fiocchi, and ORH’s desire to help them with support of $200.00 per month.  God immediately sent a family wishing to donate toward their support.  We are so thankful that God’s people follow His leading in the support of ministry.

UGANDA 2019 MEDICAL CLINIC

The country of Uganda has always been a great blessing.  In July of 2019, ORH, once again, conducted evangelistic clinics there.  Keith and Sally Stensaas, faithful missionaries with Baptist International Missions, led our teams.

Keith’s new mission work is taking him into outlying bush villages, and ORH has joined with him.  Our team with Ugandan partners totaled 95 people.  This number made it possible to have two full medical teams.  The teams ministered in two villages approximately 25 km apart.

Over 2000 people came to the clinics received medical care and heard a clear message of the Gospel preached by national pastors.  Over 300 made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus.  The national pastors have their names and have pledged to follow up the converts.  Keith Stensaas wrote this to us after the teams returned home.

“Brother Jan,

Wanted to send you a note to convey my gratitude for all your sacrifice and giving on our behalf.  I believe the clinics were a great success.  There were over 60 new people in the two churches on the Sunday following the clinics.  What a blessing!!  Thank you also, for the monetary gift.  That was truly an answer to prayer and was needed at the present time.  God always knows right when we need something!!”

Please pray for these pastors, their churches, and Keith as they follow up these families.  Praise the Lord for those added to the church.  Please download the PDF.

As always we found many who needed more help than we could provide.  Pray for a young man 17 years old with a damaged hip that healed improperly.  Alan Sutphen also a missionary physician assistant is taking this to a medical doctor who may be able to help this young man with surgery.  Pray ORH will have the funds to secure this surgery.

HURRICANE MICHAEL UPDATE

Tuesday, July 2, 2019

Dear Friends,

HURRICANE MICHAEL UPDATE

ORH has received information from Ted Weinberg concerning Victory Baptist Church in Panama City, FL.  Victory buildings were badly damaged by Hurricane Michael last year.

Ted wrote the following to Brother Steve Perrine, pastor of Victory Baptist Church.  He is outlining things that must get done for Ted and his team to start restoration work in August.  Please read and pray for these things.

“We are about a month away from beginning the project. As of today, there are 5 people committed to coming in August. At this point we do not have a cook for the August team. Darcy will be driving down with our construction trailer in tow.  He will be bringing our tools and some of the materials.  Kevin McCoy is working on the building permit. Below are some items that we need your help with.

1. Check on the availability of a scissor lift that we can rent. It needs to be able to fit thru your double doors into the foyer and reach at least 20’ high. Do we need to reserve it?

2. The electrician that will be wiring the foyer lights could use our scissor lift to do his work. If the scissor lift could be delivered on July 31 then the electrician could wire the lights on August 1st and hopefully the electrical inspection could happen shortly thereafter. This timing is critical to keep scissor lift rental to a minimum and to keep the sheetrock install on time. Can you arrange for an electrician to do the wiring on this schedule?

3. We discussed having an architect draw up the details for the stonework at the church entry. How is that going?

4. We intend to start in the foyer as soon as we arrive. If there are delays in the foyer- work then we will work on suspended ceiling in another area….

Sorry to put all this on your plate.  Thanks, Ted”

Pray that all the plans are successful in the tight schedule, so Ted can save money.

Ted has worked with ORH in Hurricane Maria with Dr. Johnny Daniels; in Hurricane Florence with Pastor Carl Wood; and now, in Hurricane Michael with Steve Perrine.   ORH has contributed substantially to Ted’s income each month so he can stay on site and continue restoration work.  Again, ORH will do the same here in Panama City.  ORH has committed $4000.00 to Ted’s missionary work through his church, Grace Baptist, in Owatonna, MN.

Pray for the work of Ted’s team.  Also, pray about going to Panama City and helping Ted.  Contact him at weinberghere@abwe.cc, if you have carpentry skills.

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

God bless you,
