Philippines Typhoon - Post 31

Wednesday April 30, 2014

Dear Friends,

Dan Cadavos and a team of his people on Mindanao are engaged at this time a true battle to help the people of the Philippines.  Please pray for them.  ORH is proud to partner with Harvest Baptist in Guam and Grace Immanuel Bible Church to help Brother Dan with his efforts for the people of the Philippines.

Construction Team #5 for Operation Yolanda (Typhoon Haiyan). Sponsored by Grace Immanuel Bible Church of Jupiter Florida, Operation Renewed Hope, Harvest Baptist Church of Guam and a great bunch of folks from Mt Calvary Casisang, Malaybalay, Bukidnon ! — with Jerry Wragg, Bob Whitney, Jan Milton and Jared Baldwin.

"This is where Pastor/Bro Dan is presently located with his team, they need our prayers for this place Dinagat Island, a stronghold of the enemy by a cult group PBMA (info on our page). Working with local pastors there to encourage and rebuild from the devastation of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)."

Dianagat is northeast of Mindanao (our island) and southeast of Manila (in southwent Luzon)...to get a picture of where we are ministering. — with Jan

Pastor Dan and his crew leaving tonight (April 21) for an 8 hour drive to the coast of Surigao to catch the ferry/barge for Dinagat Island. Churches are waiting and preparing for the construction help, and evangelist meetings that are planned. Again we need your prayers.

Dan wrote: "Pastor/Bro Dan and crew need your prayers, they missed this morning's 5 am ferry/barge to Dinagat Island due to 2 flats last night (and the tires were NEW), when God's work moves, the opposition is great. We hear that island is a stronghold for the enemy. Praise God for the good spirit of his team. Let's pray for them all!"

Dan wrote: "a good number have already come to Christ, pastors encouraged, but the spiritual battle is great in this place - thanks to all ORHUS friends for your prayers!"

They are doing their best to help the people and give the gospel.  Please pray they will be safe and successful.

If you have any extra funds for the work in the Philippines.  We will need just a few more offerings for the summer.  Pray about what you could do.

Please, consider this “open door”, and let’s not hesitate to go to the harvest.

If you would like to give by debit or credit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose Network for Good.

If you would like to send a check, please send to Operation Renewed Hope, P. O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please mark the check “International Relief.”

7 year old boy needs surgery/Pakistani girls get surgery - Post 3

Saturday April 26, 2014

Dear Friends,

Update on Ethan
7 Year Old Boy Needing Surgery

Ethan and his father, Stephen, flew to the Dominican Republic from Trinidad on Thursday, April 24th.  Thank God for Pastor Pedro and Pastor Yadin of Iglesia Bautista Christiano for their kind assistance with airport arrangements and an overnight stay so the Johanitans could fly into Haiti the next morning.  Thank God for Johnny Daniels in Puerto Rico for making arrangements with this good church.
ORH praises God for Mission for Haiti, Tom and Sarah Bennett, who connected ORH with Pastor Maxime Pierre Pierre in Port-a-Prince, and helped transfer funds from ORH to Pastor Pierre Pierre for the Johanitans.

The Johanitans arrived in Haiti on Friday April 25th where Pastor Pierre Pierre met them and took them to a guesthouse in Port-a-Prince.  The cost for the guest house is greatly less than a hotel.  Pastor Pierre Pierre also made contact with the Hospital Espoir.  In fact, the person who will be working with Ethan is a relative of Pastor Pierre Pierre.  On Monday morning, they will begin procedures for the up-coming surgery.

Please pray for Ethan because the next 10 days is very crucial in the life of this little boy.  God has been so good.  We are overwhelmed at the way God has worked to make this happen.

Pakistani Girls Get Surgery

Thank God that ORH was able to help two little girls in Pakistan.  A wall of their home collapsed on them and they were injured.  Both of the girls needed immediate corrective surgery to repair hips, feet, and legs.

Barnabas Ayub son of Pastor David Ayub, a pastor in Pakistan, wrote the following asking for help.

Parsicala Anwar is a 9 year girl who is the daughter of Anwar Masih and his wife Shakeela.  They live in Malo Waal, Sheikhupura, Punjab, Pakistan. Persikla had to be hospitalized in Raza Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan, because she needed immediate hip surgery for a fractured left thigh, left arm, and left side of the jaw.  She was first admitted in a local hospital, but was taken to a different hospital because of the serious condition.   Dr. Waqar Hassan gave her treatment.

Persicala's 12 year old sister, Marryam, was also injured. Marryam was taken to the emergency room and was released after 2 days.  She had feet fracture. She was not able to walk on her own and had to be carried everywhere, because of the injuries.  Dr. Shahbaz Din gave her treatment in the local hospital.

Thank God ORH was allowed to send money to Pastor Ayub David so he could help this family cover the costs for the girl's surgery needs.  Please pray for the girls.  Below are pictures.

7 year old boy needs help - Post 2

Monday April 21, 2014

Dear Friends,

As you know we published a situation about a little boy who needed surgery.  His parents are graduates of Johnny Daniels' school in Puerto Rico.  They left the school and became missionaries in the Guyanan jungle among the Amerindians.

The boy had a botched circumcision which led to two other surgeries, both of which failed.  We appealed to you and ideas flowed into us.  Thank you for caring for this family.

One idea sent to us has brought possible success.  One of the doctors working with ORH and a great friend, Elizabeth Drum, contacted that she would be the anesthesiologist on a team of American surgeons going to Haiti, May 1, 2014.  Through her work we have received the following email.

"Hi Jan,
Yes, you may have the family travel to Hopital Espoir for evaluation. A pre-evaluation at the hospital to be sure Ethan is healthy for surgery would be best and this can be done at the hospital the week prior to our arrival. A physician will evaluate the child and lab work will be completed on Ethan. Dr. Clanton Harrison can then evaluate Ethan upon our arrival on May 1 and put Ethan on the surgery schedule. We will let the hospital know to expect the Johanitans.
Thank you!
Debbie
Debbie Wisdom, BA, RN, LNCC
Executive Director, LEAP"

If all goes well Ethan's surgery will be done by an American team in Haiti.  OUR GOD IS SO GOOD.

Here are the needs
1)  We must raise at least $4000.00 for costs for the families travel costs, food, and lodging while the surgery is done and the follow-up afterwards.  This amount could go up just a little.  By faith, ORH will send this money so they can travel.
2.)  We must pray they can get the flights in time to reach Haiti for evaluation to be done.
3.)  Pray for the family.
4.)  Pray for the doctors and staff who will do the surgery.

If you can help.  We need it.  ORH must buy air tickets for the Albania team.  This will be a strong draw on our funds, plus releasing the $4000.00.

7 Year Old Boy Needs Help Post 1

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Dear Friends,

ORH is asking for help for a family which is suffering.  It is my hope that we will be able to see the family's needs, weep with them over these needs, and help them with these needs.

Please read this letter from Missionary Johnny Daniels in Puerto Rico.

“Dear Bretheren:  Stephen and Lesha Johanitan are graduates of Calvary Baptist Bible College in Puerto Rico and are now serving in Guyana, S.A.  They have recently brought a need to our attention concerning the health of their 7 year old son Ethan who is in need of having surgery due to a complication with his circumcision.  The condition is life threatening."

In an effort to correct the first botched surgery, the boy has experienced two more botch surgeries.  The family is grieved and bewildered.

We must find a place where the situation can be permanently corrected.  This mother and father earn about $600.00 a month in their ministry with the Amerindians in the jungles of Guyana.  They have no way of solving this, as it needs to be solved.

Rehearsing the condition of the boy at this moment is too heart-wrenching to talk about.  I have three boys married with children and serving God.  When they were little this situation would have been unthinkable for me as their father.

ORH has sent $600.00 to Johnny Daniels to pay for immediate needs of passports and other travel documents and needs for the family.  We will send a total of $1000.00 for the immediate needs.

We also have contacted a pediatrics urologist group in Miami, FL.  One of the physicians has assured us that she can correct the problems.

There are several needs to pray about, if the family has the surgery done in the United States.
1.       Pray that this surgeons group is the right one.
2.       Pray for a hospital willing to work with ORH.
3.       Pray that we find a place for the family to stay.
4.       Pray for travel costs for the family.
5.       Pray that this family’s suffering can be overcome by our prayers.

Please pray for God to answer.  Prayer is our only hope.  We must help this family.  Any suggestions that you might have would be greatly appreciated.

God bless,
Jan Milton

Albania / Peru Post

Thursday April 10, 2014

Dear Friends,

Albania Clinic July 2014

Our Albania medical clinic in July 2014 needs at least 4 more non-medical people on the trip.  We also need at least one more doctor, PA, or nurse practitioner.  Please contact Rick Williamson (rwilliamson@teamorh.com) or Jan Milton (jan@operationrenewedhope.org).  We have a great team, but we would like to have one more medical caregiver.

Peru Clinic 2013 Follow-up

Buddy Fitzgerald is a missionary with Baptist World Missions.  He and his family, ministering out of Puerto Maldonado, Peru, on the east side of the Manu jungle, hosted the 2013 Peru clinic.

This jungle area is skirted on the east and north by Rio Madre de Dios.  The jungle clinic area for 2013 was at the foot of the mountains on the west side of the jungle which climbs up to Cusco at 13000 feet.  Buddy is managing the follow-up of the clinic, spiritually.  He writes the following.

“Hey Jan, hope you are well.   I had a good phone conversation with our friend Alex yesterday. He and his wife recently returned from another jungle visit.  God seems to be prospering the work, and the churches in Patria and Pilcopata are growing. They have had some nice events, and he continues emphasizing evangelism and discipleship. They even sometimes travel back and forth in order to hold joint services and encourage one another.  Right now with rainy season it is difficult if not impossible for him to arrive in Salvacion, because the Carbon River, which we crossed, is much higher at this time. He mentioned that he is really looking forward to moving down there in September, Lord-willing, because it seems there is never enough time to do all he wants there. He is very thankful for your support, and we continue to pray for an increase later on which will allow him to be there full time.

The little church there in Patria is currently saving to buy a lot, and they thought that it was all worked out, but it seems that some authorities changed their mind. We are asking that God would make it possible soon.”

Alex Herrera, the young man that Buddy refers to, wrote the following report of the on-going work in and around Patria, Pilcopata, and Salvacion.  We are sending them $200.00 per month to pay their travel expenses.  Please pray that we will be able to continue this support for the follow up of those who were saved.  We hope they will establish good churches in Patria, Pilcopata, and Salvacion, Peru.

“Dear Brother, the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you. I pray that God is blessing you. I would like to update you concerning the tremendous things Christ has done in the Jungle of Kosñipata. By the grace of God, and with your help, we were able to travel to the jungle on January 7 - 23, 2014. Once again our great God was able to use us in an incredible manner during this trip. One of the goals that we now have in the jungle is to purchase land for the church and the brethren of the church have committed themselves to God to give a certain amount each month. If we are able to fulfill our commitment, we should be able to purchase our own land by the end of this year. Dear brother, the brethren here are very excited; they certainly have their own challenges, but I trust in God, who will be working in their lives.

I would like to share with you the activities of the month of January:

Evangelism                          50 persons evangelization
Visitation                            20 brothers/sisters visited
Home Services                   6 services in church homes
Church Services                2 services with all the brethren
Counseling                         7 brothers/sisters counseled
Conversions                       1 person saved
Children’s Services            2 children’s services
Weddings                          1 wedding conducted

Dear brother, God has used us to in a particular wedding, where I was invited to preach and to be the witness, namely the wedding of Alex and Carmen. Thanks be to God, due to this opportunity, I was able to witness to a large part of his family and also to the justice of the peace. This was a wonderful experience because it also has encouraged other brethren to marry. I share this with you because in our country the majority of the couples live together.

Brother, I am so thankful to God for giving me the ability to serve Him and thank you also for your prayers and offerings toward the ongoing work in the jungle. Thank you, brother, for your faithful support. We here in the church are also praying for your trip. God bless the dear brothers in you their homes and in the work where God has placed each one. Sincerely, The Herrera Family”

Please pray for the income to keep these people going to follow-up, plant the church, and do further evangelism.

Philippines Typhoon - Post 30

Philippines Update

Thursday April 3, 2014

Dear Friends,

The Typhoon that struck the Philippines is for most people a vague point in the past.  But, thank God, that our churches did not forget.  Thank you for the efforts that you have made to help.
Three of our workers have reported, and ORH has responded with funds for the work.  Please read the reports from Dan Cacdavos, Rick Martin, and Jim Latzko.  I hope they will be blessings to you.
Dan and Edna Cadavos

"Hello Bro Jan,   Been having some internet issues at the house, I’m here in our church office this morning.  Yes, Dan has a scheduled trip to Surigao and Dinagat Island (adjacent to Leyte) this summer for 15 days with a large team for construction, clearing and evangelism....so those funds would be of great help.  If you send it via OPEN DOOR, please be sure they send it on immediately to our FL account so there is no delay for us to get in ontime for these upcoming ministries in April as time just flies...
We have a new pastor here attending the CEP Cont' Edu for Pastors, who also had severe damage done to their church and its on the way to where Dan and team is headed in April, so we would like to help them as well...I can't tell you what a blessing these funds have been to SO SO many ....we are asking our Bro John Bandivas, in our church office to consolidate all these reports as to what the Lord has done and the how...its overwhelming!  How good our gracious Lord.   I need to close but glad the internet is up and running now here at the church.  Thank you Bro Jan and God bless your work there,  Edna"

Rick Martin

"Dear Brother Milton, It was really good to hear from you.  You have been so good to the pastors here.  Right now we are helping the pastors with items for their churches like benches, chairs, guitars and songbooks and also personal needs for their famlies such as food clothing, bed, table and chair, eating utensils, person items, etc.  On April 7 most of the men who lost church buildings or parsonages will be at our Alumni meeting and we will divide the money we have and give each pastor a part of it in cash and let them buy what they need most.  If you sent anything we would probably add it to what we have and use it for this if that is ok.  Again thanks for being so thoughtful.

Your ministry has made a difference in the lives of a lot of people here!! God bless, Rick"

Jim Latzko

"Hi, Jan,  Sorry for the slow reply. I visited pastors in Eastern Samar that are working with Me Life Baptist Mission.   We have a new project to purchase roofing for believers who are still living under tarps 3 months after the typhoon. I would like to use the $1,500 to purchase roofing materials for them.   Jim"

If you have any extra funds for the work in the Philippines.  We will need just a few more offerings for the summer.  Pray about what you could do.
Please, consider this “open door”, and let’s not hesitate to go to the harvest.
