Dear Friends,

Harvey – Victory Bible Baptist Church

ORH is so thankful to partner with Greg Rife, Restore Ministries.  He is currently working in a church in Vidor, TX.  ORH has sent $15000.00 to help the church.  Also, $2500.00 has been sent to help Greg repair his truck which is much used in the work of restoration.  Greg sent us the following message.

“Jan, just wanted to give you a quick update on the progress of our Harvey response here in Southeast Texas. We have completed our work in the homes that we had committed to restoring and have been working on repairing the damage to Victory Bible Baptist Church in Vidor, Texas for the past several weeks. The funds have been raised and the groups have been scheduled to complete the repairs to all of the classrooms, offices, nurseries, bathrooms, gymnasium and the auditorium. We are still short about $20,000 on our fund raising to repair the parsonage/missions house. Spirits are high and it has been a pleasure working side by side with the members of Victory to repair their facilities. God is good! We appreciate your support and prayers. In His Service,

Greg Rife”

Harvey – Arise Baptist Church

Colonial Hills Baptist Church has been a wonderful partner with ORH to help people in time of disaster.  Again, their congregation has been able to send a repair group led by Herb Gaines.  ORH supplied money for travel, housing, and food so they could help the Boyd family return to their home.  Thank God for Pastor Will Cover, Arise Baptist Church, for directing the need to Colonial Hills Baptist Church.

“Jan, Thank you so very much for the support in this project.  It was a tremendous blessing to partner with ORH and Arise Baptist Church to minister to the Boyd family in this time of need.  Word today is that with the help of a couple of men in the church at Arise Baptist, the house will be ready for final inspection by the first of next week.  We were so close prior to having to leave, however very grateful for Pastor Cover and these dedicated men to finish the task.  Lord-willing, Larry and Angela Boyd will be in their new home officially next week....  We will look forward to another time to serve together as the Lord permits.  God bless you. Herb Gaines, Facilities Superintendent, Colonial Hills Baptist Church”

Puerto Rico

Water Filters

Sheila Sierts and her husband operate a water filtration company in Bonita Springs, FL.   While living in Puerto Rico, they attended North Point Baptist Church, Pastor Orlando Rivera.  When they decided to send water filtration systems to the devastated island, Operation Renewed Hope offered to pay the $2000.00 for the shipping for the water filters.

Sheila wrote the following to explain the work of distributing the free gravity-drip water filters.   These filters can be used repeatedly with simple cleaning procedures.  Sheila writes.

“Water filters have been distributed to 19 municipalities and reaching numerous surrounding communities impacting individual’s residences, nursing homes, churches, and convents. Our team is currently focusing on areas of the island without power, those with limited road access, and critical medical needs. Our efforts in Puerto Rico will continue, as our work is not done.

The 1000 water filters were broken up into two shipments in November and December and are documented on our website….”

Malave’s Home

Paula Van Natta is a missionary working with the deaf in Puerto Rico with Baptist World Mission.    She sent us the needs of a family with whom she works.  The Malave family needed a new roof, and the roof is very close to being completed.  Operation Renewed Hope sent money to help this family with a new roof.  Please see the pictures on the PDF.  Thank you Paula for your good heart.

Dominica

Loren and Tim Challenger are sons of Hutson Challenger, pastor in Dominica.  The email below will tell what they are attempting to do.

“Thanks Jan for your continuous help with this process.  Here is a breakdown of what we are trying to achieve.

Building Material:

24 windows needs to be replaced. ( school/Church)

6 Doors school/church. We are looking to use aluminum doors in the future.

( It prevents swelling from the rain and winds.)

200  20 ft 20 Gauge galvanize

All income is directed to purchase or shipping which is an approximate $6500 for an 18 ft container to Dominica. I hope this helps with the scope of what we are trying to achieve. Thanks again for all of your support. Tim.Challenger.”

Operation Renewed Hope has sent $5000.00 to help them in this project.  There is so much left to do in their community and church, Lighthouse Baptist Church.  Please go to http://geographyonamission.com/lighthouse-christian-academy/ to read about their ministry.

India and Lebanon

Friday, February 16, 2018

Dear Friends,

India

Thank God for the work of Dr. John Paul Moses in Bangalore, India, as he continues to conduct medical clinics through the ORH Village Medical Assistant program.  Daniel Jones, PA, is director of ORH VMA clinics and sent this report to us from Dr. John Paul.

Bro Jan, attached is the clinic report form and another report with pictures for the VMA clinic in India on 2-4-18.    60 patients were seen, and 21 people made public professions of faith. Daniel Jones.

Please download the PDF from Dr. John Paul about his last VMA clinic in an HIV colony.  By your consistent support, ORH was able to send over $1500.00 to finance the work of this VMA clinic.

Lebanon

This was a communication that came from Sam Stricklin about our work in Lebanon.  .

“Dear Jan,  I spoke to Karim Dahdah yesterday about the matters we discussed on the phone: 1. Funds for diesel fuel for Syrian refugees, 2. Clinic in the future with a few U.S. doctors, 3. List of medicines.

Today, I started the transfer of $2000 for diesel fuel and notified Karim that the funds are in the process of being transferred for this purpose. In addition, he was in agreement with a few doctors coming from the U.S. to hold a clinic....  Sam”

ORH sent the $2000.00 for the Lebanon work.

In addition to the funds for diesel fuel Operation Renewed Hope sponsored a VMA clinic through the Gospel Baptist Church.  Pastor Dahdah used a Lebanese doctor for the clinic.   ORH provided $1000.00 for this VMA clinic.  It is hoped that this will be a prelude to many more VMA clinics in hard to enter countries.  Sam wrote the following.

“Dear Bro. Jan, Thank you for your contribution of $1000 designated for the Lebanon Clinic costs.

I had previously advanced these funds to Pastor Karim in Zahle, Lebanon in anticipation of this reimbursement.

I appreciate your burden to help alleviate the plight of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and to get the gospel to them as well.  Sincerely,  Sam Stricklin”

ORH will be sending $1500.00 for medicines for the Syrian refugees being ministered to by Gospel Baptist Church, Zahle, Lebanon.  The pastor of the church is Karim Dahdah.  Please pray for their ministry.

Harvey – Houston TX

Saturday, February 10, 2018

Dear Friends,

ORH wants to thank all those who donated to help ORH provide for many people and churches.  The donations have come from California, First Baptist of Pinole, to New York, Faith Baptist of Corona.  All living between California and New York, in Canada, and elsewhere, thank you for helping Texas, Florida, and the Caribbean.

ORH prays to stay faithful to the gospel and good works for all men everywhere.

Harvey – Houston TX

Thank God for Herb Gaines and Colonial Hills Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN, Pastor Chuck Phelps.  The church sent a team of men to Houston to repair a flood-damaged home.  Arise Baptist Church, Pastor Will Cover, in conjunction with ORH, provided Colonial Hills with the information about the family in the home.  With your donations, ORH was able to provide the hotel accommodations for this team.

The team had to leave Houston Friday morning the 9th of February at 3 am to go home.  Because the job could not be completed, part of the team will return the following week. Thank you all for such self-less dedication to the Lord and the love of others.

Puerto Rico

Bill Pfaunmiller just returned from a follow-up visit for ORH to Puerto Rico.  The funds for this trip came through funds supplied by your donations to ORH.  While in Puerto Rico, Bill was able to help many families and churches.  ORH was able to send $10,000.00 to churches and families in need.  The church that Bill attends, Harvest Bible Church, Lancaster, PA, Pastor John Walters, sent $10,000.00 to help even more churches and families.  The follow-up ministry effort in January supplied $20,000.00 to real needs that could not be met except with your help.  God bless you, and thank you.

Dominica

Pray for Loren Challenger as he works to help the people on the island.  ORH has offered $5000.00 for tin roofing.  Loren is working on this possibility.  ORH is joining with others to possibly buy a saw mill for the fallen trees on the island.

Uganda/India Update

Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Dear Friends,

Uganda

ORH had the pleasure of conducting medical clinics in Uganda in October 2017.  The results were fantastic with good crowds and many conversions.  On this clinic, ORH discovered two good solid believers in Christ, Brother Robert and Brother Sebyoto.  Brother Robert will work with Keith Stensaas in the villages.  ORH will send $100.00 per month for his support.

Brother Sebyoto is a true church planter.  He goes to a new place and starts a church meeting, then later a pastor will come and take the church.  He is doing this in Mutukula where we did our clinic to help him get new converts to start a church.  ORH realizing his work requires transportation sent $1000.00 to purchase a motorcycle for him.  Pray the church in Mutukula will see many good days and soon ORH can send money to help build a new church.

Please read Keith Stensaas response to the information that ORH was sending $100.00 a month for Brother Robert.

“Brother Jan, That is great news and I know it will be a tremendous asset to the village ministry.  The man’s name is Bwambale Robert who I will be hiring.  Great guy.  You will like him.

Yesterday, I was finally able to get that motorcycle purchased for Brother Sebyoto.  He sends his heartfelt gratitude.  It will greatly assist our ministry in Mutukula.  I have attached a couple of pictures for you.

Let me know if there is anything else that you need.  Keith”

Thank you for helping ORH to send this money.  We must send this money to support the work of missionaries around the world.

INDIA

ORH has the privilege of working in India.  Dr. John Paul Moses conducts VMA clinics with prisons, leper colonies, and villages.  During these clinics the gospel is given to hundreds who need the medical care most desperately.  He received a post card from one such person who heard of the clinics.  Please, read Dr. John Paul’s email message.

“Dear Uncle Jan and Dr Daniel's, It so heartwarming to receive a post card from a leprosy patient. I do not know how he got our information but he has made an attempt to contact us. I do not know where this colony is located. Probably the word must have gotten out about our work among the poor and leper colonies.  Someone who is educated must have helped this person write this post card in English.  As I read through this and even now as I write unto you, May God have mercy on all these needy people.  May God provide to meet their needs. Surely, I can imagine the magnitude of this request, he has written unto us with hope. And now I request you to pray for this man and also for us so that God would enable us to go there with medicines and supplies, most importantly with an eternal gift which is the Gospel….  Yours faithfully in Christ, JP”

Dr. John Paul needs and automobile badly to continue his traveling clinics.  His present car is not reliable to reach the people.  ORH has offered him a $5000.00 matching gift.  Currently, the Lord has given him $3500.00 toward the matching gift.  He will use the total toward a down payment for a used car.

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

HOUSTON, HAITI, DOMINICA

Thursday, January 11, 2018

Dear Friends,

Houston

God is very good to supply ORH, through you, funds to help God’s people and the communities in the disaster areas.  In the Houston area, ORH is still attempting to help those in need.  ORH has sent $15,000.00 to Victory Bible Baptist Church of Vidor, Tx.   Pastor Carl Green wrote the following telling of the church needs for use of the money.

“Dear Bro. Milton,  This email is in response to our phone conversation this afternoon.  Let me begin by thanking you and Operation Restored Hope for your interest in our church's rebuilding program.  Our church suffered major flood damage during Hurricane Harvey.  In our three buildings we had anywhere from 12" to 18" of water.  Because of the amount of water we were forced to remove all sheet rock up to the four foot mark.  We also lost all carpet, tile, cabinets, pews, doors, baseboards, door trim, wooden desks, changing tables, rocking chairs, baby cribs, and all wooden shelving.  We also lost most of our library and many of our hymnals.  Some of the components of our sound system were also lost in the flood.  We estimate that between our church, parsonage, and gymnasium that it will take anywhere from $150,000 to $200,000 to restore our facilities.  Per your request we are attaching pictures to show the immediate damage and our progress in restoration….Our address is Victory Bible Baptist Church, 18347 IH 10, Vidor, TX  77662. My cell phone is 409-673-3646 and email is pastorcdgreen@aol.com.

If you need any additional information, please feel free to contact me.  I hope this email is sufficient to provide you the needed information you requested.  Thank you again for your interest in helping us.  Sincerely, Carl D. Green, Pastor, Victory Bible Baptist Church”

ORH hopes to send $5000.00 more dollars to do 10% of the higher amount for the costs to restore the church.  Also, pray for Greg Rife of Restore Ministries who is attempting to rebuild the church.  His truck has developed problems which will require over $5000.00 of repair work.  Greg needs the truck very badly.

Haiti

ORH has the privilege of working with the best people on earth in ministry.  Tom and Sarah Bennett are two of those people.  Their ministry Mission for Haiti located in Greenville, SC is a complete encouragement for our efforts in Haiti.  Below you will read the message of a young man who is in ministerial training at Bob Jones University concerning his brother.  Christy Holshouser, NP, head nurse for ORH operations, working through the Bennett’s was able to help this young preacher and his brother with $1,000.00 of disposable colostomy supplies.

“Hi, Pr. !, I am writing you to thank you very much for the most significant help you have provided for my brother-in-law. Mrs. Bennett has already delivered the greater part of the supplies that were purchased, and of those Miss Christy has facilitated us to get even free of charge. May the Lord take good note of the charitable heart you have proven in regard of our need. Thank you again. I want to take advantage of the opportunity to announce you that were are working on the process of bringing him to the US in the coming May for my graduation ceremony, and also in the idea he might get in touch with some American doctor who could possibly reverse the colostomy. So, we would appreciate any ideas of yours in this respect, as to your awareness of any doctor or way that could help. Attached are pictures of Mrs. Bennett delivering the supplies to him, Noé Metéllus.

ORH received this email from Noe, and he also called to thank all involved for the efforts and supplies.

“Greetings, Mr. Jean Milton. Many blessings, I am Brother Noé météllus. I am the brother-in-law, brother serge jacmel. I am writing to let you know that I received it from the colostomy. Thank you very much my brother, I told brother serge to share with you the Picture again thank you very much. happy New Year!”

God is always good giving as the need arises through his people for the people groups of the world.

Dominica

Pray for Loren Challenger.  He is attempting to obtain about 500 sheets of “galvanized” to rebuild roofs on the Island.  ORH has offered to pay the shipping costs if he can get the roofing.  This is a bold and very costly effort.  ORH does not have the money to buy the roofing.  Loren is also thinking of buying a portable saw mill to mill the fallen trees, so people will have building materials on the Island.  He is industrious and innovational.  Pray for him; so few people have such a dynamic spirit.  He and his family have been missionaries on the Island for years.

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

Harvey, Puerto Rico Update

Saturday, December 16, 2017

Dear Friends,

Hurricane Harvey

Val Verde Baptist

Val Verde Baptist Church has always been a strong and aggressive church.  Because of Hurricane Harvey many of their congregation have been greatly burdened.  ORH discovered that one of their Christian school teachers, Britney Gullickson, lost her automobile due to Harvey.  ORH was able to help her secure a used car so that she can continue teaching at the school without taking extra work to afford a car.  Thank God for all of you who have made this possible.

Victory Baptist Church

Pastor David Cripps of Victory Baptist Church had many people greatly impacted by Harvey.  Three families have yet to return to their homes.  ORH was able to send these families financial encouragement.  Pray that the families will be able to return to their homes soon.  Pastor Cripps is a good man and pastor for the people of Victory.

Puerto Rico

Paula Van Natta

Paula Van Natta is a missionary in Puerto Rico with Baptist World Missions.  Recently she brought to the attention of ORH the need of families in one of the mountain regions of Puerto Rico.  One family is an older couple who needs repair to their home.  ORH is waiting now for the repair costs to be finalized so help can be provided.  Thank you so much for praying for the situations.

“Hello Br. Milton, Paula here in Puerto Rico. Look there is a faithful couple in our church who are retired, he seems to be in beginning stages of Alzheimer.  They have severe roof damage and FEMA is only offering them a low interest loan to repair the roof. Would Operation Hope be able to help with supplying building materials to fix their house? FEMA hasn't even covered the house with a tarp yet.  Building supplies are scarce...a wooden tin roof is what will be installed again.... Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Hello Bro. Milton!

Here's the list of materials...the family is more than grateful and ever humbled by whatever you are able to do. The construction will begin in January Lord willing.”

The cost of the roof repair and materials at present is about $5000.00.  Please pray for this couple.  Thank God for Paula.

Pastor Javier Donatiu

Pastor Donatiu wrote ORH about the needs for his church, Calvary Baptist Church.  ORH was able to send $2500.00 to help with repairs.  Pastor Donatiu wrote the following.

“Our church is located in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, ….  By the grace of God, we have 60 faithful members. By the passing of Hurricane Maria through P.R., our church had some significant damages to the structure. We lost the ceiling of our youth classroom, our storage ceiling was also destroyed. The windows of our Sunday School classroom were damaged and other structures were destroyed as well (light poles, church sign etc.)  We believe God has called us to keep working for Him through hard times and that's why we want to restore our church, God's church, to continue the work He has called us to do. Thank you so much for your help!”

JEREMY MARKLE

Although our air flights have ceased, we are still concerned about the need for food and supplies for the people of Puerto Rico.  It is wonderful that men like Jeremy Markle of Baptist World Mission is concerned about this.  ORH was able to send $1200.00 dollars for Brother Markle to purchase food and distribute.  He is working on another food distribution now to the people.  ORH also bought 400 water filters through Allen Copeland who delivered them to Brother Markle to distribute to the people.  Pray for him as he labors to help the churches and the people of Puerto Rico.

The following is a series of texts from Brother Markle.

“We made some purchases of some supplies. Here are the receipts for now. We already distributed some to one pastor and another is coming tomorrow.  We will need a little time to see the need for future purchases. We are taking it one day at a time to see how needs develop. Thank you so much for your help.

Good morning. I wanted to drop you a quick not to let you know that I received 400 filters yesterday from brother Copland.

Good evening. I just had contact with one of the pastors in a more rural area and he is asking for a few more supplies. We are hoping to get together for some things on Wednesday. Thankfully the other pastors are doing ok.”

Thank you for your giving!!

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

Hurricane Update Puerto Rico

Hurricane Update Puerto Rico

Sunday, November 19, 2017

Dear Friends,

ORH received information from Dr. Johnny Daniels about the demolition of his Bible college building.  A team of 10 men came to help with the demolition.  He is going to need money and labor to restore the building for his students.

Dr. Daniels wrote the following and sent pictures.

“Here is what we are doing (see PDF) also you can see the big termite nest.  The building is coming down slowly.  Thank you for all your help.

I will continue to keep you updated.  We will need work teams, but I will contact you before-hand.  Still trying to clean up now.”

ORH hopes your church will consider helping Dr. Daniels.  When Dr. Daniels communicated with ORH, he was working with the team.  He just got water at his house and electricity.  Pray for him, his church, and the ministries.

If you wish to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.
