Dear
Friends,
Houston
God is very
good to supply ORH, through you, funds to help God’s people and the communities
in the disaster areas. In the Houston
area, ORH is still attempting to help those in need. ORH has sent $15,000.00 to Victory Bible
Baptist Church of Vidor, Tx. Pastor Carl Green wrote the following telling
of the church needs for use of the money.
“Dear Bro.
Milton, This email is in response to our
phone conversation this afternoon. Let
me begin by thanking you and Operation Restored Hope for your interest in our
church's rebuilding program. Our church
suffered major flood damage during Hurricane Harvey. In our three buildings we had anywhere from
12" to 18" of water. Because
of the amount of water we were forced to remove all sheet rock up to the four
foot mark. We also lost all carpet,
tile, cabinets, pews, doors, baseboards, door trim, wooden desks, changing
tables, rocking chairs, baby cribs, and all wooden shelving. We also lost most of our library and many of
our hymnals. Some of the components of
our sound system were also lost in the flood.
We estimate that between our church, parsonage, and gymnasium that it
will take anywhere from $150,000 to $200,000 to restore our facilities. Per your request we are attaching pictures to
show the immediate damage and our progress in restoration….Our address is
Victory Bible Baptist Church, 18347 IH 10, Vidor, TX 77662. My cell phone is 409-673-3646 and
email is pastorcdgreen@aol.com.
If you need any additional information,
please feel free to contact me. I hope
this email is sufficient to provide you the needed information you
requested. Thank you again for your
interest in helping us. Sincerely, Carl
D. Green, Pastor, Victory Bible Baptist Church”
ORH hopes to
send $5000.00 more dollars to do 10% of the higher amount for the costs to
restore the church. Also, pray for Greg
Rife of Restore Ministries who is attempting to rebuild the church. His truck has developed problems which will
require over $5000.00 of repair work.
Greg needs the truck very badly.
Haiti
ORH has the
privilege of working with the best people on earth in ministry. Tom and Sarah Bennett are two of those
people. Their ministry Mission for Haiti
located in Greenville, SC is a complete encouragement for our efforts in
Haiti. Below you will read the message
of a young man who is in ministerial training at Bob Jones University
concerning his brother. Christy
Holshouser, NP, head nurse for ORH operations, working through the Bennett’s
was able to help this young preacher and his brother with $1,000.00 of
disposable colostomy supplies.
“Hi, Pr. !,
I am writing you to thank you very much for the most significant help you have
provided for my brother-in-law. Mrs. Bennett has already delivered the greater
part of the supplies that were purchased, and of those Miss Christy has
facilitated us to get even free of charge. May the Lord take good note of the
charitable heart you have proven in regard of our need. Thank you again. I want
to take advantage of the opportunity to announce you that were are working on
the process of bringing him to the US in the coming May for my graduation
ceremony, and also in the idea he might get in touch with some American doctor
who could possibly reverse the colostomy. So, we would appreciate any ideas of yours
in this respect, as to your awareness of any doctor or way that could help.
Attached are pictures of Mrs. Bennett delivering the supplies to him, Noé
Metéllus.
ORH received
this email from Noe, and he also called to thank all involved for the efforts and
supplies.
“Greetings,
Mr. Jean Milton. Many blessings, I am Brother Noé météllus. I am the
brother-in-law, brother serge jacmel. I am writing to let you know that I
received it from the colostomy. Thank you very much my brother, I told brother
serge to share with you the Picture again thank you very much. happy New Year!”
God is
always good giving as the need arises through his people for the people groups
of the world.
Dominica
Pray for
Loren Challenger. He is attempting to
obtain about 500 sheets of “galvanized” to rebuild roofs on the Island. ORH has offered to pay the shipping costs if
he can get the roofing. This is a bold
and very costly effort. ORH does not
have the money to buy the roofing. Loren
is also thinking of buying a portable saw mill to mill the fallen trees, so
people will have building materials on the Island. He is industrious and innovational. Pray for him; so few people have such a
dynamic spirit. He and his family have
been missionaries on the Island for years.
