Saipan and Myanmar - Pastor Cung

Thursday, August 27, 2015

Dear Friends,

Saipan Update

ORH just received these communications from Dr. Christian Wei whose ministry was damaged by the Typhoon that struck Saipan.  His efforts to train pastors in very difficult situations is exemplary.  We must help him to become totally functional again.  All too often, the pastors he trains have no Bible, no books, but overwhelming desire to complete their ministry.  Please read his communication.

“Dear Jan:  Please see attached file for the students’ thank-you-notes.  We are so grateful for your kindness to help us.  God bless.  In Christ,  Christian Wei

Dear Friends:  Our coworkers taught our students to give thanks in everything. They encouraged them to write thank-you-notes to those who gave sacrificially to help us to go through our disaster situation.  I have attached some of our students’ note in the file.  I am sure you will enjoy their child like faith and application notes.  We, too, with deep love and affection desire to say thank you to all of you who support us this difficult time.  Even though there are still a lot of works need to be done, but we knew the Lord will supply all our needs.  Thank you so much for everything.  Humbly in Christ,  Christian Wei”

Can you help with this good work?  Even a small amount will help.

Pakistan and Myanmar Update

Wednesday August 26, 2015

Dear Friends,

Pakistan Flooding and Medical Needs

Sam Stricklin is a brave and courageous man who spends many weeks a year in Islamic nations visiting, encouraging, and training Christians, pastors, and individuals.  We at ORH are so honored to work with this man and his ministry.

ORH sent $800.00 to Sam to help with rebuilding a flooded home of a pastor.  Also, the a portion of the $800.00 paid for two surgeries; one was for a small boy, and one for a pastor’s wife.  The money for such things is so small, yet so needed.

Sam wrote me this concerning the gift that came through your giving.

“Bro. Jan,   I notified Ayub of the $800. I will wire it after I get home on August 20.  Please send it to Tri-City designated MAP/Pakistan. Thank you so much!  Sam”

Please pray for these brothers and sisters who live in devastating hostility.  Please look at the PDF of a church that Sam works with in Pakistan.  Pray for the church and safety for the people.

Myanmar Flooding Report

Recently, Ron White, veteran missionary, sent us information about the need of Dr. David Sum in Myanmar with the monsoon flooding.  Over one million people have been displaced.  ORH was able to send $3000.00 for the needs of Dr. Sum through Ron White because of your gifts.

Dr. Sum wrote us this report.

“Dear Brother Jan Milton,  Greetings from Burma.  Pray and hope that you are doing well.  As the need is so desperate and though the fund has not arrived to us yet we tried our best and with some of our friends and our school boys we went to relief work and just came back.  We just started our journey from Yangon at 1:00am midnight and arrived at Caung Gone town at 5:00am in the morning and had breakfast there.  Then we continue 45 minutes more and then we moved our foodstuff from trucks to boats. this time we could help rice, water, clothes, medicine and rehydration salts.  We came back at the same day and arrived yangon at 8:30 pm.  Please see some photos.  Blessings, David”

Thank you for helping us through the donations.  Dr. Sum and his people need more funds to help the displaced people of the flooding.  The funds would buy food, water, fuel, and boating for their efforts.  Dr. Sum will faithfully preach the Gospel of Christ.

There are also three other ministries that we are trying to help.  Our brothers and sisters are in very severe trouble and need help.

If you wish to donate by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for “International Relief.”

If you wish to donate by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate the gift for “International Relief.”

Please download the PDF of Pakistan.

Ukrainian Christians Need Help

Friday August 21, 2015

Dear Friends,

The needs are great around the world, but our God is greater.  Our missionaries often go “in harm’s way” as soldiers of the cross, but our God sustains them.  This is one such time.

ORH received this email from Derek Thomas a missionary pastor that is well known to ORH.  He is a dedicated godly man trustworthy in all things.  His love for God’s people is great.  Please read his email to ORH about the work in the Ukraine.

“This is Derek Thomas, formerly missionary to Lithuania, and pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Raymore, MO.  In December I resigned as pastor at FBC and returned to Eastern Europe.  I became involved with Neil Cadwell and Slavic Baptist Institute while I was pastoring.  Brother Cadwell could no longer continue due to physical issues, and the Lord prepared my heart to go.  We are currently on deputation, but during this time we make trips to Ukraine to oversee the ministry there.  Our media presentation may be viewed at:  https://vimeo.com/125188244

This past week at a pastor’s conference just outside of Kiev I met a pastor who is from Donetsk, Ukraine.  (See the attached picture.)  His name is Aleksandr Moseychuk.  Because Donetsk is in the heart of the fighting in Ukraine and is now under Separatist control, many have fled from the city.  Pastor Aleksandr lost 80% of his church.  He prayed for the Lord's will and felt the Lord would have him to stay, which he has.  The Lord has honored his step of faith as the church is growing to the praise of the Lord at 2-3 salvations per Sunday!  Most of these salvations have never before darkened the steps of a church.  One of the reasons the Separatists have left him alone (although they did break into his home during the night, while he and his wife were there, took his car, only later to return it) is that he helps feed the people there.  I know that churches from Ukraine have taken up love offerings and have sent funds to him.  Pastor Aleksandr seems like a good and godly man.  My desire is to help him in some way.  Right now it is impossible for me, as an American to go there.  I would only hinder his ministry as Americans are not popular with the Separatists.  But if we can get him some material help with food and clothing it would be a blessing to that area and to his ministry.

I was wondering if ORH has any ability to help with food or clothing?  If not, do you know of any ministries that may be able to help?”

ORH also received this email through Derek Thomas from Pastor Moseychuk  in the Ukraine answering questions from ORH.

“Now I will try to answer your questions:

1.  What is needed? People ask food, bread, and all things for personal need and for home: tooth paste, tooth brush, tissue, soap, detergent, sanitary towel and so on;
2.  a statement of who need help. All people who come to our church: mother who have many children, elderly people, husbands who work in a mine but do not receive payment and others. Before we give any help I talk with people personally and try to get to know this person or family and then make a final decision.
3.  How do we tie the physical needs help to the spiritual.  Before they receive any help they have to come to the special service before lunch. We preach them the Word of God and then give them some help. Also we invite them to the church on Sunday.
4. Do you do any follow up with these that you have helped? Yes. We have a special class for new believers on Saturday.
5.  Is this work only through your church?  Are there any other churches or groups that you are working with or that you help?

This work is only through our church. We are looking some help from our Christian friends in Ukraine and USA. For instance: I have two aunts in America, they immigrated in USA in 1992 and their church sent us some packages with clothes. Some Ukrainian churches sent us potatoes and vegetables. So we pray about new friend who could help in this ministry.”

ORH has committed $1000.00 initial help for these people in this very dangerous war zone.   It is not much, but it will begin to encourage them.  Derek Thomas is on his way to the Ukraine now to deliver the $1000.00 to Pastor Moseychuk and his church.

The attached PDF is more of Pastor Moseychuk’s message with pictures of he and his churches situation as a result of the Russian incursion into the Ukraine.  Please, read this and pray for these people.  This is our obligation according 2 Thessalonians.

“2 Thessalonians 1:3–4
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:”

Faith International Partners – Myanmar Floods

ORH just received this communication from this group working with nationals in Myanmar.  They are in great need.  I spoke with the director by phone.  He assures me that not enough is available for the help of the people.

Ch. of Winchester, VA sent me your info in regards to the devastating floods in Myanmar, etc. I work with indigenous missionaries in Myanmar, India, Thailand and Vietnam through our ministry Faith International Partners….Our National Director for Myanmar is "John" Buai Cung and he indeed lives in Kalaymyo, the capitol of Chin State which has suffered the greatest from the flooding. Pakistan

The floods in Pakistan have been very bad this year.  Please read the communication from Sam Stricklin below.  Sam started MAP which forms partnerships with believers in Middle Eastern countries.  We just received this communication from him.

“(Pray) For Pastor Ashar Ayub and his family’s bad living conditions from recent flooding. His house is built with mud and bricks. His house suffered a lot of damage because of the recent heavy rains. The roof at his house leaked at different places causing the water to come inside his rooms. Heavy rain caused the streets to flood. The water from the street also came into Pastor Ashar’s house. His wife and children had to sleep with the dirty water around them for two days until the water level in the streets went down.  ($300 is needed to repair his house.) For Pastor Arif’s 5 month old son, David, who is going through serious medical issues that might need surgery.  For Pastor Seral Javed’s wife, as she goes through hernia surgery.  Dear Jan,  I heard back from Silas Ayub in Pakistan. The costs are as follows:  1. $150 - Pastor Arif's son;  2. $100 - Pastor  Seral's wife. Thanks. Sam”

ORH is sending $800.00 at this time to help with these needs.  We hope that this will help the pastor rebuild and with the costs of medical care for the others mentioned.

If you wish to donate by debit or credit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.  Please designate your gift for “International Relief.”

If you wish to donate by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC  28309.  Please designate your check for “International Relief.”

Uganda and Philippines - Great blessings

Thursday, August 13, 2015

Dear Friends,

God is so good.

In May of 2015, ORH conducted medical clinics in Uganda with missionary Keith Stensaas.

The clinics were held each day at the Equator in Uganda.  They were a blessing and many believed in Christ as evangelist Tom Farrell preached each day.  We were able to help many who were physically sick.  In fact, one of our doctors, a surgeon, was able to help several with growths that needed removal.

The pastor who sponsored the clinics at the Equator wrote us of the good blessings from the clinic.  Please read his message and rejoice with ORH.

“Hello, Pastor Milton! My name is Jacob Kafero from Equator Baptist Church In Uganda, we thank God so much for the work you did at our village! so far we have 15 new Christians joined our church from the medical missions and we continue to make the follow up more will come! continue to pray for us and we need you again please here at Uganda Equator! May God bless you!!!”

Please pray for this good brother as he continues to do the work of the Lord in Uganda.  Please download the PDF to see the work of Pastor Jacob.  ORH will be sending $200.00 to our brother for his work, and $100.00 each month for the next 12 months to help this deserving brother.

Philippine Clinic

The last week of October in 2015 ORH is conducting a clinic in the Philippines.  We have 3 doctors, 1 dentist, and several nurses and non-medical people participating.

In order to do this clinic, we need 2 more doctors, 1 more dentist, 1 optometrist, and 3 nurses.  Also we need 5 more non-medical people.  If you can go please contact us as soon as possible.

We will be working with Dan and Edna Cadavos on Mindanao.  They worked hard in the typhoon relief work.  Now, we are going to help their church for all the great work they have done.

God bless,

What are the locations in Saipan that you wish to help?
We need to have the Gualo Rai in Saipan. This is the place for most of our people and students.

What are your present financial capabilities?
We are in need of help to get the repair done. The financial support is needed.  We have international school and college under our church ministry.  So we have only the budget to support their education needs and without the budget to get all the restoration done.  We need to get generators to supply power so that we will be able to have the lights to start our schools.  We also need to have drinking water and water to provide our people’s needs. There are many victims who are lost their homes.

Can you buy items in your area to help the victims?
Yes, we can buy food, water and needy items for the victims.

What is basic needs of these people?
They need food and water, lodging, power (diesel fuel for the generators).

If you had $5000.00 please give me a budget as to how you would use it?

1.     We need to buy generators to supply power for the dorm for the students ($1500 for 2)

2.     We need to get fuel for the generators for daily use before the power company supply power to us. ($50 per day) $50 x 21 days =$1050

3.     We need to buy drinking water to provide our students and people. ($2.00 per bottle x 30 per day=$60 per day)  $60 x 21 days =$1260
Total: for estimate 21 days for Saipan to get back to normal: $5310.00

Are you willing to give the gospel to every person that you help?
Yes, we are willing to share with Jesus Christ our Savior.  We will be happy to do so.  Thank you so much for your help.

In Christ,  Christian Wei”

Flooding in Myanmar

Flooding in Myanmar

Monday, August 10, 2015

Dear Friends,

Brother Ron White, missionary of at least 40 years, recommended Dr. David M. Sum and his ministry in Myanmar (Burma) to help in the Myanmar disaster.  Please read this, and pray for these wonderful Christians who fight the battle for Christ.  I hope you will be encouraged to know that across the globe there are believers standing for Christ and good works.

“Dear Brother Jan Milton,   Thank you very much for your encouraging email.  As the need is so great we can't wait anything. We tried our best with what we had and went for relief work and just came back. Our team started from Rangoon at11:00pm and arrived the place at 9:00AM in the morning and helped and came back and arrived back Rangoon at 3:00am in the morning. Why we did like this because there is no place to sleep for us so we did like that.  Right now their life is the most important so foodstuff is the most needful.  Thank you,”

I asked Dr. Sum to answer questions.  The following are a portion of the answers he returned.

“Please answer the following questions:

What are the locations in Myanmar that you wish to  help?  Chin State is my native state, so I wanted to help them but it is only possible to send them money only.  But near Yangon where I am living there are lots of flood victims-homeless families. Our team just came back from the other side of Prome where no one reached them. I attached some snap shots. Due to my back and legs problem I did not go with them but my assistant was leading them and the truck that ORH bought for us was used for the relief work. Thank you again for this useful truck that you bought for the Lord's ministries. So, we will help Delta area and other also as we are now surrounded by flood victims.

What are your present financial capabilities? right now we have spent all we had. By the  grace of God some of our neighbors have donated such as water, noddles and some type of food and we have given already to the flood victims. As their situation is in danger we cannot wait.

Can you buy items in your area to help the victims? Yes, we can buy everything in Yangon.

What is basic needs of these people? Food and water is the basic need, they need everything because their houses have been under water. But right now for their living is the most needful and important.

Are you willing to give the gospel to every person you help? It is very difficult to share with them by this moment but we left gospel tract with them. We are praying to reach them in the near future.  Thank you, David”

If you would like to donate by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate your gift for “International Relief.”

If you would like to give by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please designate your gift for “International Relief.”

Pray that ORH will have the funds to help.  We are committing $3000.00 at this time.  This money will be sent through missionary Ron White.   Ron has a Bible College in Myanmar with Dr. Sum.  We are sure that he will appropriately handle the funds sent.  Please download the PDF to see the work in progress.

God bless,

Jan Milton
