Syrian Refugees and Philippine Typhoon Post 3

Syrian Refugees – Lebanon Work

Dear Friends,

ORH wants to thank the churches and individuals who have given to help the work of Pastor Maher in Iraq and Pastor Dahdah in Lebanon to work with the Syrian Refugees.  ORH is thankful that many have heard the gospel and some have been saved.  Thank God also for Brother Sam Stricklin, and Brother Edgar Fehgaly who are true brothers of compassion for a hurting people without the gospel.

Below is a message about the work with the Syrian Refugees in Lebanon.  Pastor Karim Dahdah is now in the process of helping these people.  This is not easy since he faces the possibility of his own status becoming that of a refugee from ISIS.

Lebanon just arrested a “woman who is believed to be one of the wives of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the group's reclusive leader.” (CBS News).

Please pray for these brave servants and those “scatter abroad”.  Pastor Dahdah is giving the gospel and relieving the horror and suffering of displaced people.

Please read the email from Pastor Karim.

“Dear Bro. John, Thank  you for your direct reply and full understanding.  I'll follow your instruction as you've asked, and if you need some more information or photos, don't hesitate to ask.  All money will be used for Syrian refugee people.  Something to know that not all Syrian people live in camps. Some of them are renting small rooms.  I'll also sent you in the future some picture of their rooms.

Also now in winter, they are in great need of Diesel, for Heating. At least every family needs $100 /m, as you know Zahle and Bekaa- Valey is 900- 1000m high above sea Level.  So your 2nd project to us could be for diesel knowing that I can help from 50 - 100 family.  Please pray for that essential need as well.  Feel free to call me or contact me any time.  Pastor Karim”

If you would like to help these efforts in a most unique opportunity for the Gospel, please do one of the following.

If you wish to give by check, please make the check payable to Operation Renewed Hope, P.O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Mark the check for “International Relief.”

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and select “Network for Good”.

ORH will always be the voice of those people who are the “scatter abroad” as Jesus saw them.  May our eyes be His eyes.  May we see the multitudes as “sheep scattered abroad having no shepherd.”

Philippines Typhoon

Thank God that the typhoon was not as severe as the one a year ago.  At this time, we are assessing the damage, and what ORH should do, if anything.  The best we know at this time is that we should wait and not commit resources.  Continue to pray for these people.  If we think it wise to engage this disaster, ORH will send out another update.

God bless,

Typhoon "Hagupit" - Post 2

Saturday, December 6, 2014

“Typhoon Hagupit”

Dear Friends,

We just received this report from Jim Latzko, a missionary we helped in the last typhoon.

“Dear Jan,  Thanks, I received your e-mail.  It is 1:40 PM.  Typhoon is supposed to be at its height at 8 PM to 2 AM.  We are about 120 miles south of the center of the typhoon.  It is expected to pass through Eastern Samar and Northern Samar.  Our pastor and his wife in Oras, Eastern Samar evacuated to a school.  There is already some flooding in Oras, according to her text message.  Tacloban seems to be OK at the moment, according to a text from a friend.  This typhoon, though not as strong as the last one, is moving very slowly, so there is more time for the wind to do damage.  I will definitely keep you informed.  Jim”

Please pray.  This missionary and his churches are possibly at the strongest point of the Typhoon.

As information comes we will contact you.  Thank you for helping ORH.

God bless,

Jan Milton

Typhoon "Hagupit" - Post 1

Friday December 5, 2014

“Typhoon Hagupit”

Dear Friends,

Once again we are faced with a typhoon in the Philippines.  ORH has contacted the people that we worked through in the last typhoon event.

Dan and Edna Cadavos have responded with this email.

“As you know Dan and I are in Florida at present but already in touch with several of our pastors there presently awaiting the storm...they are only beginning to feel its affects.

We will keep you updated and have people in place where we could easily channel help later on as the Lord provides and the needs are made known.  Our hearts are just heavy with concern, but we know again the Lord is doing something in our country.

I did mention to your wife already to check our FB page as well for regular updates.  For tonight we rest in Him already assuring several in the line of fire of our prayers as we rest for the evening.   Thank you and ORH again for already reaching out in concern.”

This storm could follow the path of the last storm which occurred 1 year ago.  I know that the churches and people of the last event are overwhelmed with the possibility of a repeat of last year.   If this storm does not veer away, ORH will once again need to help these people and churches.

Please pray for these people.

ORH stands ready to help.  I hope you will consider helping.

God bless

Uganda 2014 Medical Team

Uganda 2014 Medical Team

Dear Friends,

KramerJulius Byaruhanga of Singiro Public School wrote the following to Operation Renewed Hope.

“I would like to thank the whole medical team for the tremendous work done at the hill of Singiro Independent Baptist Church on the 28 Oct. May God bless you. Pray for our school. Bravo Bro. Rick”

It is always wonderful to receive immediate input from those who sponsored Operation Renewed Hope to their community. We are always thankful for many friends as a result of our evangelistic medical clinics.

Missionary Keith Stensaas once again invited us back to Uganda to continue the work which began many years ago with him. In fact, we have counted over 50 days of clinic which he has sponsored to his mission field. Thank God for the churches started or encouraged, and all the souls that have come to Christ.

The latest clinics were held in three villages (Mbirizi, Singiro, and Katovu) within driving distance of Keith’s church in Masaka. In these three villages, over 1200 people attended the clinics and 26 souls came to Christ.
We discovered a baby in great need and sent the baby to the hospital. We also discovered a young boy with a tumor. We are hoping to get the surgery to remove this tumor.

The one thing of long lasting impact will be the work with the church at Mbirizi. The church is renting a school building for services. They have found a piece of land about 100 yards from the buildings they are renting. They need $1000.00 to purchase the land of about 1/3 acre.

Operation Renewed Hope has agreed to purchase the land if the church will pay and work to build the building.

David Livingstone Institute of Medical Missions

September 10, 2014

David Livingstone Institute of Medical Missions

Dear Friends,

Operation Renewed Hope is exploring the possibilities of the David Livingstone Institute of Medical Missions.

Statement of Purpose: Recruit young people to attend the institute
1. to learn biblical servant leadership
2. to develop a heart for medical missions
3. to gain instruction in science
4. to gain instruction in math
5. to begin preparation for the MCat
6. to provide opportunities on medical teams while young.

Problem: Medical missions is growing in interest and need since ORH began over 20 years ago.  ORH and many other good organizations need medical personnel.  We are not reaching young people before college for this purpose.  All our good organizations search from church to church to find willing people after they are in practice.  This is closing the door to the barn after the horse is loose.  We must become proactive.

Help Need: We need
1.  medical people willing to teach medical missions, who are involved in medical missions.
2.  science and math teachers willing to teach the difficult courses to prepare a young person.
3.  spiritually trained servant leaders to develop the youth.
4.  people to recruit at least one young person per school or church.

ORH has been offered land for the purpose of the David Livingstone Institute.  We want this program to complement our present ORH Boot Camp training for teens.  We desire to create a work force for medical missions, so that none of our good organizations go without personnel.

If you would like to be part of a focus group discussing this on a computer video conference, please respond to this with your email.

The dates of the focus group is September 29 and October 2 at 8 PM EST.  You can choose either date.  You will receive an agenda for the meeting when you respond.  You will need to download FUZE to participate.

We are not soliciting funds.  ORH solicits funds unashamedly for the needs of others.

Please help us to make this work for all of us.

God bless,
Jan Milton

Iraq - Post 3

September 6, 2014

Dear Friends,

ORH this evening received this new message from the church in Baghdad by Edgar Faghaly.

Please read the report and rejoice in the Lord.  As more information is made available, ORH will send it to you.

“Three hundred and fifty Iraqi families who lost their homes and everything they
own, were flown by the Iraqi government to Baghdad.! !

Our church in Baghdad prepared a box filled with major staples. In addition to the box we purchased a blanket and a pillow plus other things they need. We announced that in order to receive the aid they need to pick it up from our church during the service. ! !

Last Sunday the church was filled with people who heard the gospel for the first time. Everyone received his package plus a Bible or a New Testament in Arabic. Among the refugees who came were 12 Moslems. Many of them commented that we are the only church in all of Baghdad that thought of their tragedy and prepared aid for them. They expressed gratitude to all who helped make these aid packages a reality. Many of them raised their hands for salvation at the end of the sermon. !”

Operation Renewed Hope will be sending more funds to help this great effort by the Baghdad church.  This is a great opportunity to give the gospel where it cannot be heard.

Continue to pray for these displaced people who need Jesus.  Pray for those who are fleeing because they believe in Jesus.

God bless,
Jan Milton

Iraq - Post 2

September 6, 2014

Dear Friends,

Iraq Update

Thank you for the donations to help the Christians fleeing ISIS.  This is a terrible situation.

Edgar Feghaly wrote the following update about the money that was sent to the Pastor Maher's Baptist Church in Baghdad.  Pastor Maher has a good ministry in Baghdad, even a radio station.  ORH sent the first money to make sure that it could reach the people in need.  Brother Feghaly has assured us now that it has reached the church and preparations are being made to distribute this money.

Brother Feghaly also gave us word that many have come to Baghdad from the conflict area, and the church is helping these families now.  Please read the the following update.

"Brother Maher already has possession of the money, and we are already putting together our plans to activate the aid to the people.

Also, we are working on a plan to put a NT or a Bible in the hands of every person that receives aid.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. As the aid is being distributed in Baghdad, Iraq, and Kurdistan, we will be sending you photos and news through our email updates.

May our Master and Lord reward you for your faithfulness and generosity."

These are dangerous days and hard days for the world and Christians in particular.  It is the greatest day on earth to reach the world through the compassion of Christ.  We must not fail to go to the harvest.

Pray for these people.  To believe around the world, now requires a willingness to die.

Operation Renewed Hope is thankful for those who have given.

Uganda October 2014

ORH needs 3 more non-medical people to go to Uganda.  If you can go, the dates are October 25 through Nov. 3, 2014.  The number of patients will be great.  We need at least 3 more to help us.

One of our doctors had to withdraw from the trip.  We need to replace that care giver.  A PA, Nurse Practitioner, or a doctor would be of great help.

We want to make sure we are able to help all the people who will come to the clinics.

Cambodia January 2015

ORH is now forming the Cambodia Trip for 2015.  Please consider traveling with ORH to help Dr. Tom Johnson.  As we form this team, we are praying very strongly for the new church that hopefully will form.

Dr. Johnson has received a land donation.  The ORH team will travel to this donated land.  We will do the clinic on this land to draw people to hear the gospel and receiving loving, compassionate health care.

Prayerfully, many will trust Christ, and become a strong new group for the new church.

God bless,

Jan Milton

Iraq - Post 1

Monday August 13, 2014

Dear Friends,

Please read the communication below.  This is a delicate situation.  After reading this, if you desire to work further please email ORH of your wishes.  These brothers in Christ need help because of the situation of persecution.

Large organizations are possibly unaware of the needs of these churches.  The true Bible believing churches are small and will only receive help through a sources such as Sam Stricklin and Edgar Feghali.  I can tell you that his trust rating is overwhelming.

This is a message from Sam Stricklin.

Dear Jan,

This is the update on the situation in Iraq.

1. I am told that there are no more Christians living in the city of Mosul due to the recent ISIS takeover in this area.  This was the area that Saddam Hussein was from.  However, there are ten churches approximately 10-15 miles from Mosul and the believers are in desperate need. They are without electricity, fuel, and food.  A few families group together to dig wells by hand in order to obtain water. Supplies cannot be sent to them; however, money can be sent (smuggled) in only via taxi drivers whom they know and trust. [Our church in Baghdad has collected an offering and sent it to these people.)

2. Many believers have fled to Kurdistan. Pastor Maher has a man out of his church in Baghdad who moved to Kurdistan to start a church a few years ago and he knows other believers there. He can get funds through his contacts there to the refugees. They are in dire need of blankets and food. They would also have an ongoing opportunity to share the gospel with these people.

3. Thousands of Iraqi Christians have fled to Lebanon, and many of them are located near where one of our churches is located.  That church has attempted to assist them in whatever way they can. There is an Assyrian Church in their area which many of the refugees are connected to, and they are in need of food and other personal needs.  This church and Pastor (Milad Khaled) would be happy to see that any funds sent for the Iraqis were properly distributed.

Thank you very much for you contacting me about this need.

Sincerely,
Sam Stricklin

I also have spoken with Edgar Feghali who has direct contact with the above described situation.  Both Sam and Edgar have given me good intelligence of the present situation.  Your help could save the lives of godly, desperate people fleeing persecution.  Dr. Feghali told me in the conversation that they are planting land-mines in homes of fleeing Christians.  If they return to their homes they would trip the land mines.

We will attempt to help these churches by the method described above.  As soon as we are certain the money is reaching the churches and being used as stipulated, we will publish this fact.

Again let me emphasize the delicacy of this situation.

If you would like to send a check, please send to Operation Renewed Hope, P. O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please mark the check “International Relief.”

God bless all who try to help these believers who have faced extermination and now are suffering as refugees.

Please let ORH know your wishes.

Japanese Typhoon - Post 2

Saturday July 12, 2014

Dear Friends,

ORH has received no information that would indicate great damage or loss of life as a result of the typhoon which struck Okinawa and then moved to  main land Japan.

As our good friend Ron White expressed.  "I hope that Operation Renewed Hope is not needed."

We did get this email from Matt Starin on Okinawa which indicated damage to the home and cars of one of his church members.  He is also checking the neighborhood around the church for anyone in need.  Pray that we could help someone that is lost to know Christ.

"Good morning,

Thank you for the email. We did have a church member and her two sons who had water damage at their home. The water came up four to six feet when the Tengan River crested and flooded their area. Both cars were completely submerged in the water.  A water pump purchase would of been helpful or one of those wet vacs.

Matthew Starin
Baptist World Mission
Okinawa Japan"

We asked Matt if insurance would help the church member and this was his reply.

"Mrs Kishimoto did not have insurance for flooding but her son Kei's car did. She has gotten a rental car for a month. We went over there Weds morning when it was safe and the water had just receded."

We are waiting to hear from Matt about what can be done to help this lady since she did not have flood insurance.  ORH would like to send Matt some funds to help Mrs. Kishimoto.

If you would like to send a check, please send to Operation Renewed Hope, P. O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please mark the check “International Relief.”

Japanese Typhoon Neoguri - Post 1

Wednesday July 9, 2014

Dear Friends,

At this time, the following has been accomplished through your valuable input.  ORH never moves to the work without solid information.

ORH has contacted Jared Baldwin with Harvest Baptist Church in Guam.  He has assured us that they are in good condition.  We have partnered with this great church to help with last typhoon in the Philippines.

ORH has sent word to Matthew Starin on Okinawa and is awaiting a response.

Missionary Tim Melton in Japan has responded and has promised to give us updates about needs.  At this time he is not in need.

ORH has also attempted to contact Pastor Craft of Maranatha Baptist Church in Okinawa City, Okinawa.  We have been unsuccessful to get contact, but will continue trying by email and phone.

Ron White with Tri-City Baptist Church in Independence MO writes the following:

"Missionaries, Dan and Terri Gardner.  They have a church, a camp, and a house.  Missionaries Dan Gardner, Jr and Heidi.  they have a house and also share the camp and church building with his parents.  Missionaries Matt and Sachiko Sanders.  They have a home and a church building.  Maranatha Baptist Church and all their missionaries, workers, members, school, students and staff.  National pastors Fujino and family, Saito and family, and several others.

The same typhoon is heading on to Mainland Japan where I know several missionaries and many national pastors, workers, and believers."

David Harris of BIMI is attempting to help ORH with information.  His help in the last disaster in Japan was invaluable.

Thank you so much for the immediate information to begin the relief efforts.  Your help is always essential to proper evaluation.  You are God's blessing to ORH.

Pray for the contacts that will be made, so that ORH can assess the opportunity to minister to the saved and the lost.  This is another open door of opportunity to behave like our savior as He helped the suffering while in His earthly ministry.

Pray that the contacts are safe and ready to minister to the people around them.

At this time, do not send money.  When ORH is certain of a proper course of action we will request help.
At this time, patiently wait with ORH for information that leads us to where God is wanting us to work.

God bless,
Jan Milton

Philippine Typhoon - Post 33

Philippine Typhoon

Saturday, July 5, 2014

Dear Friends,

Dan Cadavos and his great Church, Calvary Baptist in Mindanao, will be making another trip into Leyte to help rebuild two more churches which are in very desperate need.  Please pray for them as they make this trip.  ORH has committed another $2500.00, but we need about $4800.00 total to help these two churches with substantial rebuilding.

Please read Dan and Edna's latest communication to ORH.

“There will be soon another $2,500 being sent from ORH as Jan Milton has informed us.  We sent 3 of our men back to Leyte the other day to continue work in two churches with ministries the Lord has impressed upon our hearts.  There are good men, pastors, working in those churches, basically abandoned by their own "association" as they accepted help from us back in January.  They are totally trusting the Lord to meet their needs by faith....  We want to ok our men on the scene that its ok to go ahead and order 350 bags of cement and other needed supplies.”

We cannot let these brothers in Christ down.  If you can help, please take an offering to continue the rebuilding of churches.  To date, Operation Renewed Hope has worked with more than 30 churches helping them to rebuild.

Dan Cadavos, Rick Martin, and Jim Latzko have been working feverishly to reestablish individuals, communities and a great number of Churches.  It has been the privilege of ORH to work through these marvelous people for the Filipinos.

If you have any extra funds for the work in the Philippines.  We will need just a few more offerings for the summer.  Pray about what you could do.

Please, consider this “open door”, and let’s not hesitate to go to the harvest.

If you would like to give by debit or credit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose Network for Good.

Philippine Typhoon - Post 32

Philippine Typhoon Update
Tuesday May 20, 2014

Dear Friends,

Below is another great report from Dan and Edna Cadavos.  These two wonderful people and their church Mt Calvary in Mindanao have worked tirelessly to make certain that the work to help the people, churches, and villages continues.  If you look, you will see that the damage from months ago is still very evident.  There is still much work to do.  Pray that Dan and Edna will be able to continue this great effort.

"Hi Jan,  Dan wrote: "We had a wonderful update from Dan yesterday, with his team still in Dinagat Island. The wife of one of the sons of that cult group accepted Christ as her savior and promised to be in services on Sunday! This is a VERY big deal. Also her and her husband allowed the men to use a lot of their wood (fallen trees) for the repair work that our team is doing (on 3 different churches). Pray for the husband as well, as he is considering and listening to the Gospel. He did ask Dan to "pray" for them.

This afternoon he is leaving for Leyte with 9 of the 12 men to finish some work they began last Jan-Feb, then they will return to Dinagat Island and also a work in Surigao that we are assisting with as well. Tuesday-Thursday of next week they have a schedule set up to preach in 3 villages on Dinagat Island. This is seldom heard of since the cult group controls everything on that island. God is doing a marvelous work there with amazing opportunities. A good number have been saved already.

Our men have been working over-time and Dan is very happy with them. Of course always little challenges here and there but overall he is pleased with their work and more importantly their spiritual growth, learning to witness and learning to work in unity for the glory of God.

Thanks all for your prayers! Jan Milton Jared Baldwin Bob Whitney Jerry WraggPaul Edward Guiliano Cadavos, Joseph Cadavos, Anna Rose Cadavos, Asenath Cadavos"

Pastor Dan is working in several churches in this area of Leyte. A good number of folks have come to Christ and the local pastors encouraged. Interestingly this is where Gen.MacArthur landed in WWII and the first place the American flag was raised again since lowering in Bataan, so a very significant and a strategic area to retake the Philippines from the Japanese. So besides the church work, the team is cleaning up the WWII Monument area as a testimony to the local gov't there and as a US Citizen Dan plans on raising up the first American Flag since Typhoon Yolanda that I am sending to him today. Will get a pic of that up once it reaches them."

Dan spoke of a young boy who helped was dishes for his team as they worked.

"...and he is doing his part (washing the team's dishes) to assist in the team effort for Operation Renewed Hope in Dinagat Island with the team from Mt Calvary Casisang under Pastor Dan Cadavos. - Jan Milton"

They are doing their best to help the people and give the gospel.  Please pray they will be successful.

If you have any extra funds for the work in the Philippines.  We will need just a few more offerings for the summer.  Pray about what you could do.

Please, consider this “open door”, and let’s not hesitate to go to the harvest.

7 year old boy needs surgery - POST 5

Saturday May 3, 2014

Dear Friends,

Yesterday, ORH received this wonderful email from Dr. Elizabeth Drum.

“Ethan is in the recovery room, all is well. More later.”

Ethan’s surgery is completed, and he is doing well.  I know his mother and father received this information with great joy.

Our God has done great things; He is to be praised.  Thank God for His ability to bring to exact times and places people to be His “hands” on earth.  This is the glory of our good and gracious God who wishes all men to be saved; He must be praised.

Stephen Johanitan, Ethan's father, wrote the following from the family.

“Hello to all,   Truly God is great.  We are so thankful for His grace and your prayers through this time of need.  Ethan's surgery went well and he is recovering at the guest house.  He has to go back in seven days for a check-up.  Please continue to pray for him as he recovers.

Our family would like to thank all of you for allowing God to use you to show us how BIG He is.  Thank you for being a blessing to us.  We thank God, through our Lord Jesus Christ for all of you; for your prayers, love and support.  Forever grateful,  Stephen, Lesha, Ethan & Elizabeth”

Operation Renewed Hope wants to thank the good and kind people at LEAP Foundation for the doctors and surgical staff.  Continue to pray for the others who will receive surgery this weekend through this good people.

Dr. Elizabeth Drum is our very great blessing.  Thank you so much Dr. Drum and her husband Marc.

7 year old boy needs surgery - Post 4

Thursday May 1, 2014

Dear Friends,

Please read this report from Stephen and Ethan who are in Haiti waiting for Ethan's surgery.  I think it will be a great blessing for your church to hear this testimony.

"Ethan is going to see the doctors from LEAP today at 5pm.  I suppose we will know then which day he will have surgery. We are doing well and he seems to be healthy. Praise God!  It is amazing how The Lord continues to take care of us.

The guest house we're at is called My Father's Guest House. Through U. S. sponsors they care for 17 girls in an orphanage. We were able to visit the girls home and a private Christian school which this guest house is apart off. I was able to help out with a little work around the guest house for which I was just grateful that I finally got something to do.

Our first night at the guest house was spent with a woman's group from North Carolina. They left early the next morning. However, the most amazing thing happened that night. One of the ladies from the group was looking for a child who was going to have surgery and her entire time here did not find anyone, until she found Ethan and heard his story. She gave him a stuffed lion which belonged to her sixteen year old son who died from cancer. She also gave him a book entitled 'How Big is God'. The Lord has been soooo good to us through out this entire trip.  We are so thankful for everyone he has used along the way to show us truly how BIG!!! He is. Thanks be to God through our Lord Jesus Christ.   In Haiti, Stephen and Ethan"

Please continue to pray for Ethan as the doctors work in his behalf.  Pray they will be able to help him.

God is so powerful, and His goodness is endures.

Philippines Typhoon - Post 31

Wednesday April 30, 2014

Dear Friends,

Dan Cadavos and a team of his people on Mindanao are engaged at this time a true battle to help the people of the Philippines.  Please pray for them.  ORH is proud to partner with Harvest Baptist in Guam and Grace Immanuel Bible Church to help Brother Dan with his efforts for the people of the Philippines.

Construction Team #5 for Operation Yolanda (Typhoon Haiyan). Sponsored by Grace Immanuel Bible Church of Jupiter Florida, Operation Renewed Hope, Harvest Baptist Church of Guam and a great bunch of folks from Mt Calvary Casisang, Malaybalay, Bukidnon ! — with Jerry Wragg, Bob Whitney, Jan Milton and Jared Baldwin.

"This is where Pastor/Bro Dan is presently located with his team, they need our prayers for this place Dinagat Island, a stronghold of the enemy by a cult group PBMA (info on our page). Working with local pastors there to encourage and rebuild from the devastation of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)."

Dianagat is northeast of Mindanao (our island) and southeast of Manila (in southwent Luzon)...to get a picture of where we are ministering. — with Jan

Pastor Dan and his crew leaving tonight (April 21) for an 8 hour drive to the coast of Surigao to catch the ferry/barge for Dinagat Island. Churches are waiting and preparing for the construction help, and evangelist meetings that are planned. Again we need your prayers.

Dan wrote: "Pastor/Bro Dan and crew need your prayers, they missed this morning's 5 am ferry/barge to Dinagat Island due to 2 flats last night (and the tires were NEW), when God's work moves, the opposition is great. We hear that island is a stronghold for the enemy. Praise God for the good spirit of his team. Let's pray for them all!"

Dan wrote: "a good number have already come to Christ, pastors encouraged, but the spiritual battle is great in this place - thanks to all ORHUS friends for your prayers!"

They are doing their best to help the people and give the gospel.  Please pray they will be safe and successful.

If you have any extra funds for the work in the Philippines.  We will need just a few more offerings for the summer.  Pray about what you could do.

Please, consider this “open door”, and let’s not hesitate to go to the harvest.

7 year old boy needs surgery/Pakistani girls get surgery - Post 3

Saturday April 26, 2014

Dear Friends,

Update on Ethan
7 Year Old Boy Needing Surgery

Ethan and his father, Stephen, flew to the Dominican Republic from Trinidad on Thursday, April 24th.  Thank God for Pastor Pedro and Pastor Yadin of Iglesia Bautista Christiano for their kind assistance with airport arrangements and an overnight stay so the Johanitans could fly into Haiti the next morning.  Thank God for Johnny Daniels in Puerto Rico for making arrangements with this good church.
ORH praises God for Mission for Haiti, Tom and Sarah Bennett, who connected ORH with Pastor Maxime Pierre Pierre in Port-a-Prince, and helped transfer funds from ORH to Pastor Pierre Pierre for the Johanitans.

The Johanitans arrived in Haiti on Friday April 25th where Pastor Pierre Pierre met them and took them to a guesthouse in Port-a-Prince.  The cost for the guest house is greatly less than a hotel.  Pastor Pierre Pierre also made contact with the Hospital Espoir.  In fact, the person who will be working with Ethan is a relative of Pastor Pierre Pierre.  On Monday morning, they will begin procedures for the up-coming surgery.

Please pray for Ethan because the next 10 days is very crucial in the life of this little boy.  God has been so good.  We are overwhelmed at the way God has worked to make this happen.

Pakistani Girls Get Surgery

Thank God that ORH was able to help two little girls in Pakistan.  A wall of their home collapsed on them and they were injured.  Both of the girls needed immediate corrective surgery to repair hips, feet, and legs.

Barnabas Ayub son of Pastor David Ayub, a pastor in Pakistan, wrote the following asking for help.

Parsicala Anwar is a 9 year girl who is the daughter of Anwar Masih and his wife Shakeela.  They live in Malo Waal, Sheikhupura, Punjab, Pakistan. Persikla had to be hospitalized in Raza Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan, because she needed immediate hip surgery for a fractured left thigh, left arm, and left side of the jaw.  She was first admitted in a local hospital, but was taken to a different hospital because of the serious condition.   Dr. Waqar Hassan gave her treatment.

Persicala's 12 year old sister, Marryam, was also injured. Marryam was taken to the emergency room and was released after 2 days.  She had feet fracture. She was not able to walk on her own and had to be carried everywhere, because of the injuries.  Dr. Shahbaz Din gave her treatment in the local hospital.

Thank God ORH was allowed to send money to Pastor Ayub David so he could help this family cover the costs for the girl's surgery needs.  Please pray for the girls.  Below are pictures.

7 year old boy needs help - Post 2

Monday April 21, 2014

Dear Friends,

As you know we published a situation about a little boy who needed surgery.  His parents are graduates of Johnny Daniels' school in Puerto Rico.  They left the school and became missionaries in the Guyanan jungle among the Amerindians.

The boy had a botched circumcision which led to two other surgeries, both of which failed.  We appealed to you and ideas flowed into us.  Thank you for caring for this family.

One idea sent to us has brought possible success.  One of the doctors working with ORH and a great friend, Elizabeth Drum, contacted that she would be the anesthesiologist on a team of American surgeons going to Haiti, May 1, 2014.  Through her work we have received the following email.

"Hi Jan,
Yes, you may have the family travel to Hopital Espoir for evaluation. A pre-evaluation at the hospital to be sure Ethan is healthy for surgery would be best and this can be done at the hospital the week prior to our arrival. A physician will evaluate the child and lab work will be completed on Ethan. Dr. Clanton Harrison can then evaluate Ethan upon our arrival on May 1 and put Ethan on the surgery schedule. We will let the hospital know to expect the Johanitans.
Thank you!
Debbie
Debbie Wisdom, BA, RN, LNCC
Executive Director, LEAP"

If all goes well Ethan's surgery will be done by an American team in Haiti.  OUR GOD IS SO GOOD.

Here are the needs
1)  We must raise at least $4000.00 for costs for the families travel costs, food, and lodging while the surgery is done and the follow-up afterwards.  This amount could go up just a little.  By faith, ORH will send this money so they can travel.
2.)  We must pray they can get the flights in time to reach Haiti for evaluation to be done.
3.)  Pray for the family.
4.)  Pray for the doctors and staff who will do the surgery.

If you can help.  We need it.  ORH must buy air tickets for the Albania team.  This will be a strong draw on our funds, plus releasing the $4000.00.

If you would like to send a check, please send to Operation Renewed Hope, P. O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please mark the check “International Relief.”

God bless all who try to help us with the suffering of others.

7 Year Old Boy Needs Help Post 1

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Dear Friends,

ORH is asking for help for a family which is suffering.  It is my hope that we will be able to see the family's needs, weep with them over these needs, and help them with these needs.

Please read this letter from Missionary Johnny Daniels in Puerto Rico.

“Dear Bretheren:  Stephen and Lesha Johanitan are graduates of Calvary Baptist Bible College in Puerto Rico and are now serving in Guyana, S.A.  They have recently brought a need to our attention concerning the health of their 7 year old son Ethan who is in need of having surgery due to a complication with his circumcision.  The condition is life threatening."

In an effort to correct the first botched surgery, the boy has experienced two more botch surgeries.  The family is grieved and bewildered.

We must find a place where the situation can be permanently corrected.  This mother and father earn about $600.00 a month in their ministry with the Amerindians in the jungles of Guyana.  They have no way of solving this, as it needs to be solved.

Rehearsing the condition of the boy at this moment is too heart-wrenching to talk about.  I have three boys married with children and serving God.  When they were little this situation would have been unthinkable for me as their father.

ORH has sent $600.00 to Johnny Daniels to pay for immediate needs of passports and other travel documents and needs for the family.  We will send a total of $1000.00 for the immediate needs.

We also have contacted a pediatrics urologist group in Miami, FL.  One of the physicians has assured us that she can correct the problems.

There are several needs to pray about, if the family has the surgery done in the United States.
1.       Pray that this surgeons group is the right one.
2.       Pray for a hospital willing to work with ORH.
3.       Pray that we find a place for the family to stay.
4.       Pray for travel costs for the family.
5.       Pray that this family’s suffering can be overcome by our prayers.

Please pray for God to answer.  Prayer is our only hope.  We must help this family.  Any suggestions that you might have would be greatly appreciated.

God bless,
Jan Milton

Albania / Peru Post

Thursday April 10, 2014

Dear Friends,

Albania Clinic July 2014

Our Albania medical clinic in July 2014 needs at least 4 more non-medical people on the trip.  We also need at least one more doctor, PA, or nurse practitioner.  Please contact Rick Williamson (rwilliamson@teamorh.com) or Jan Milton (jan@operationrenewedhope.org).  We have a great team, but we would like to have one more medical caregiver.

Peru Clinic 2013 Follow-up

Buddy Fitzgerald is a missionary with Baptist World Missions.  He and his family, ministering out of Puerto Maldonado, Peru, on the east side of the Manu jungle, hosted the 2013 Peru clinic.

This jungle area is skirted on the east and north by Rio Madre de Dios.  The jungle clinic area for 2013 was at the foot of the mountains on the west side of the jungle which climbs up to Cusco at 13000 feet.  Buddy is managing the follow-up of the clinic, spiritually.  He writes the following.

“Hey Jan, hope you are well.   I had a good phone conversation with our friend Alex yesterday. He and his wife recently returned from another jungle visit.  God seems to be prospering the work, and the churches in Patria and Pilcopata are growing. They have had some nice events, and he continues emphasizing evangelism and discipleship. They even sometimes travel back and forth in order to hold joint services and encourage one another.  Right now with rainy season it is difficult if not impossible for him to arrive in Salvacion, because the Carbon River, which we crossed, is much higher at this time. He mentioned that he is really looking forward to moving down there in September, Lord-willing, because it seems there is never enough time to do all he wants there. He is very thankful for your support, and we continue to pray for an increase later on which will allow him to be there full time.

The little church there in Patria is currently saving to buy a lot, and they thought that it was all worked out, but it seems that some authorities changed their mind. We are asking that God would make it possible soon.”

Alex Herrera, the young man that Buddy refers to, wrote the following report of the on-going work in and around Patria, Pilcopata, and Salvacion.  We are sending them $200.00 per month to pay their travel expenses.  Please pray that we will be able to continue this support for the follow up of those who were saved.  We hope they will establish good churches in Patria, Pilcopata, and Salvacion, Peru.

“Dear Brother, the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you. I pray that God is blessing you. I would like to update you concerning the tremendous things Christ has done in the Jungle of Kosñipata. By the grace of God, and with your help, we were able to travel to the jungle on January 7 - 23, 2014. Once again our great God was able to use us in an incredible manner during this trip. One of the goals that we now have in the jungle is to purchase land for the church and the brethren of the church have committed themselves to God to give a certain amount each month. If we are able to fulfill our commitment, we should be able to purchase our own land by the end of this year. Dear brother, the brethren here are very excited; they certainly have their own challenges, but I trust in God, who will be working in their lives.

I would like to share with you the activities of the month of January:

Evangelism                          50 persons evangelization
Visitation                            20 brothers/sisters visited
Home Services                   6 services in church homes
Church Services                2 services with all the brethren
Counseling                         7 brothers/sisters counseled
Conversions                       1 person saved
Children’s Services            2 children’s services
Weddings                          1 wedding conducted

Dear brother, God has used us to in a particular wedding, where I was invited to preach and to be the witness, namely the wedding of Alex and Carmen. Thanks be to God, due to this opportunity, I was able to witness to a large part of his family and also to the justice of the peace. This was a wonderful experience because it also has encouraged other brethren to marry. I share this with you because in our country the majority of the couples live together.

Brother, I am so thankful to God for giving me the ability to serve Him and thank you also for your prayers and offerings toward the ongoing work in the jungle. Thank you, brother, for your faithful support. We here in the church are also praying for your trip. God bless the dear brothers in you their homes and in the work where God has placed each one. Sincerely, The Herrera Family”

Please pray for the income to keep these people going to follow-up, plant the church, and do further evangelism.

If you would like to send a check, please send to Operation Renewed Hope, P. O. Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.  Please mark the check “Clinic Follow-up”.

God bless all who try to help us with the suffering of others and the salvation of their souls.
