Kerala, India News

Sunday, August 19, 2018

Dear Friends,

India

We are very thankful for Dr. John Paul’s selfless spirit to help the people of Kerala.  His wife, Elizabeth, who is a dentist, will be traveling with him.  Their baby will stay with Dr. John Paul’s father and mother.  Pray all will be safe.

The sad news is that the brother in Christ, James, who sent an update published in the last email cannot find his family members in Kerala.  They lived in one of the hardest impact areas of the flooding.  Pray they will be found alive.

“Dear Uncle Jan,

Greetings; I thank and praise God for the initial help for the victims of Kerala. Once again, I want to let you know that this will be an uncertain period lasting for the relief work. I have worked in Kerala earlier and I know the weather conditions. I am fully aware and am committed to judicious (use) with the funds sent for the relief work.

…In the mean-time, we are making necessary arrangements, lists and a proper route to get through.  Apparently, the roads are opening up.  I am so heart-broken to inform you that Brother James' parents and other family members are missing. He has tried many possibilities and there has been no response. I have promised him, that once we get to Trivandrum, we will go looking in the relief camps as we minister to others as well.  The place where his family comes from is Idukki, where the maximum devastation has occurred, and minimum help has reached. We will proceed to cover Trivandrum, Ernakulam and Idukki; going by faith that God would provide through all of this.  I could arrange 400 copies of new testaments for distribution in Malayalam. Please be in prayer, Yours sincerely in Christ, JP and Eliz.”

Dr. John Paul wrote this in his last communication.

“The biggest fear now is hygiene and disease outbreak.  May God have mercy.  Many parts in the country is reeling with floods. Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Madya Pradesh, prediction for Goa and Andra, Kerala already, and also Karnataka.”

ORH is sending $2000.00 more for the ministry need. which is and will continue to be great.  ORH agreed with the 400 New Testaments for distribution while working.

Thank God for those already responding to the need.  Thank God for Dr. Patricia Catrow’s tender heart to God.  Pastor Brian Ernsberger and his church, Lincoln Park Baptist Church, Wenatchee, WA, which is a real encouragement.  Pastor Gordon Dickson and his church, Calvary Baptist Church, Findlay, OH which is always strong in time of need.
