2017 Bijapur India Medical Clinic

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

Dear Friends,

Thank you for praying for the medical clinic in Bijapur region in India.  Dr. John Paul Moses and his team completed the clinic and sent back this report.

Please read the report that they sent and continue to pray.

“Dear Uncle Jan and Dr Daniel's, Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

We had a wonderful medical clinic amongst the tribals in the villages of Bijapur district, Aliabad and Arakere on the 19 and 20 respectively. We worked with a local Pastor, who is ministering at Neereekshana Church.

The people living here are predominantly tribals..  They are called the 'Lambani's' or 'Banjaras' called the 'Jungle Wanderers'.

Their religion is animal, plant and idol worship, practicing witch-craft and appeasing the evil spirits with certain kinds of animal sacrifices. If a person goes out of this religion or tribe, they are hunted down by the community, or they are exterminated from the village and the tribe.  Many years ago a missionary was chased down, and persecuted for bringing the gospel into these areas. The pastor here was one among those who hated Christianity.  But ever since he came to know the Lord, he has been working in these villages unfortunately many a times chased out and physically assaulted and attacked... He is alive because he once belonged to these groups!  God has been so gracious in helping us through ORH to perform an evangelistic medical clinic in these hostile tribal areas.  Those very people who persecuted the Christians once, now walked in to the church building to get medical aid and thus got to hear about the Love of our Lord Jesus.  Please go through the pictures I am sending with the next email.

The devil right from the beginning of planning of this medical clinic has been very active and has tried various ways to stop us from going.  We saw about 400 patients with 270 registrations.  The crowd was overwhelming and we had limited man power to handle them. Mom was at medicine counter, distributing medicines and witnessing to the women.  Titus and pastors were witnessing and managing the crowd. We had to send many with wellness packs. But nevertheless, almost every one of them came forward to hear the Gospel and about 48 of them made decisions.  The local pastor and some believers will follow up on them and make sure that these people are encouraged to attend the church to grow in the Lord.

We conducted one of the clinics in a church in Aliabad, where we worked on day one. On day two we worked in Arakere, in the open space, as there is no dedicated church building. We have a pastor who is willing to work amongst the tribals of arakere.  Please pray with us that God would provide for a building where people could gather to worship our Lord. Once again, thank you uncle Jan and Dr Daniel's, and all of ORH, for praying with me and my family for this clinic.

We are now returning home, with a great burden for these people in the upcoming days. Opportunities for church planting are huge. Hoping to return to this area again in april once my wife, Eliz, delivers the baby which is in a few days.  Please pray for our journey and safety.  Pray for our family mission in bhadravathi and most importantly dad who isn’t keeping well.  Thanks much much again.  We are ready for the next camp!  All smiles and Glory to our Lord.  Amen.  We had a great one... :)   Yours Faithfully in Christ, Dr John Paul Moses, Titus and Mom Mrs.  Jasmine Moses”

Continue to pray that God will make it possible for ORH to finance these wonderful evangelistic clinics.

Please pray for Dr. John Paul’s father, J.D. Moses.  ORH is attempting to obtain surgery for him here in the United States.  He has served the Lord in the most severe circumstances of opposition and persecution without wavering.

2017 Panama Medical Team

Sunday, February 19, 2017

Dear Friends,

Thank you for praying for our 2017 Panama medical team that just returned.  Your prayers were answered.

The team members were our 2016 boot camp graduates from Berean Baptist Church, a group of young ladies from The Wilds Christian camp, a missionary from Peru, missionaries and workers from Panama, and several others from around the United States.  See the team photo on the PDF.

In the early days of Operation Renewed Hope, teams traveled exclusively to the country of Panama.  On one of those trips, the doctors discovered a young man, Eli, living in the jungle who was suffering from acute appendicitis.  Without surgery. Eli would die.  Arrangements were made to travel several hours on the ocean to a city to acquire immediate surgery for Eli.  The surgery was successful.

Eli eventually received Christ along with his family, and entered Bible training to become a preacher and pastor.

Eli has a great passion for his people, and asked ORH to conduct a clinic in his very remote area of Panama.  The clinic brought both medical help through the doctors and spiritual help through the Gospel.

Eli’s village, and several other villages, enjoyed and benefited greatly from the team of medical professionals and non-medical workers.  All who ministered saw the Lord work mightily, not only for the Panamanian people, but also in their own hearts.  Despite heavy rains and high waters, the team treated at least 750 patients, and forty-two came to trust Christ as Savior.  Eli and his church will follow-up on these new converts.

ORH thanks our Panamanian missionaries, Jim and Phyliss Childress and Thomas Corbello, for their tireless work in developing medical missions in Panama and for others around the world.

India Update and Prayer Requests

Saturday, February 18, 2017

Dear Friends,

The ORH Village Medical Assistant program is working and being very effective.  It is the joy of ORH to be able to help American missionaries, national doctors, and national pastors to conduct medical clinics in their own country.

In India, Dr. John Paul Moses and his family are in a tribal region conducting an evangelist clinic.  ORH was able to supply $2000.00 through your giving toward the costs for this clinic.

Pray that ORH can raise the funds for Cambodia and Malawi.

Please, read the report below from Dr. John Paul.

“Dear Uncle Jan and Dr Daniel's, Thank you for your prayers and support. I have received the funds. I was thinking that we wouldn’t be able to do this clinic on 19 and 20 as planned earlier, but thankfully God has helped us to purchase the medicines right on time!  We are on our way to Bijapur district.  Expecting quite a crowd tomorrow, please pray for our journey.  We left at 8 pm, got late, as my vehicle had some issues.  Continues to have....  We will be traveling through a terrorist infested area. These terrorists are called 'The Naxalites'. There have been incidents of attacks, crime, dacoity and robbery on travelers in the night times.  Please pray for our safety and the vehicle. The Devil is at work tonight but God is so faithful, thank you so much Uncle Jan, Dr Dan and all of ORH for helping us reach this tribal area.  God bless you and I will keep you posted.  We love you in Christ, JP, Titus and Mom.

Ps: Eliz is at Home, she has reached her pregnancy term, please pray that I will be back on time to take care of her.. I am so blessed in all of this...! Our baby is coming soon... :)”

Download the PDF which is a picture of the tribal people in Bijapur where Dr. John Paul and his family will be giving the gospel.  Pray for his wife who is a dentist, and as he said will be delivering their first baby.

Please pray for Dr. John Paul’s father, J.D. Moses.  He is a faithful pastor in a strongly hostile community. He needs surgery for a tumor on his spine.  This could cause a permanent paralysis if it is ignored or surgery cannot be obtained in time.  Please pray that ORH can find help in this matter.

Thank you as supporters in prayer.  Your help makes it possible to answer the needs of many.

Louisiana Flood Update

Thursday, February 9, 2017

Dear Friends,

St. Amant Baptist Church sent us these pictures (PDF) and messages because your donations made it possible for us to help them.  There church was damaged in the Louisiana flooding last year.  Thank you for making it possible for ORH to help this church.

Chuck Smith, Assistant Pastor, wrote the following.

“Praise the Lord the rebuilding has begun and He is providing our needs.  It is a very slow process and there is much work to be done and funds needed but we are thankful that God provides all of our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.

Thank you for your help, kindness and friendship.  May God richly bless you and your ministry.  In His Service, Chuck Smith, Associate Pastor, St. Amant Baptist Church, St. Amant, Louisiana”

The Senior Pastor, Melvin Meister, also sent this to ORH.

“Our church had 5 feet of water, the gym 4 feet and our house 2 feet.  The buses are gone.  Twenty families have been displaced and struggling to survive.  They lost all and it will be months before some can live in their house.  At least five will be torn down.  You can imagine the financial load this creates for everyone.

I held up until we received notes, prayers and checks to help us in our time of trouble.  That is when I cried.  People started to show up from across the country, bringing supplies and helping with cleaning the debris.  Our church is a struggling country church, yet people came from many places to help.  Each of you gave us hope in a hopeless situation and I thank you from the depths of my heart….”

It is always a great blessing to give just as our Savior gave himself for us.  The church has made progress, but there is still much to do.  If you would like to contact this pastor and his people to help, please write St. Amant Baptist Church, 10414 ACY Rd, Saint Amant, LA 70774-4422, (225) 675-5346.

Please download the PDF.

Alex and Flor in Peru

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

Dear Friends,

Below is a report Alex and Flor Herrera in Pillcopata, a village in the jungle of Peru.  After a major clinic there several years ago, Alex and Flor surrendered to the Lord to stay and pastor the people.  They are doing a great job and have sent us this report.  By faith, ORH sends them $250.00 per month for their work.

“December Report,  Dear brothers, I greet you in the precious name of our great Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; And wish them a happy new year, where God will guide their plans and goals this year.

Dear brothers, by the grace of God we have culminated one more year in the service of his wonderful work. This December, we had the blessing of a special service for Christmas, where the children of the church and adolescents had a very important participation; This allowed the parents of the children, could come for our worship; In this way they heard the message of the Word of God.

By the grace of God, we now have a good number of teenagers, they had a special participation in our Christmas service, because they acted the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Thank God, this year once again, God has provided to make a chocolate and to give gifts for the children of the church. In this way God once again shows his love for his work; For now we are fully confident that this year will be a year of victory with the help of God. Dear brothers and sisters, God is blessing the work here in Pillcopata, in such a way that the place where we are meeting is becoming small for us; For that reason we are praying for a wider place, where we can meet more comfortably; For now we believe that this year, God will pour His grace on many more people in this town.

Dear brothers, during the months of December, January and February, the rains are very torrential, this causes our only access and exit path to be affected; And if there were any emergencies, it would be very difficult to get out; Please your prayers so that God, who has the control of time and that his will is perfect, free us from any danger and illness.

With all this, I can only thank the great God of love and mercy, for having used me and my family for another year, here in Pillcopata. And I thank you, dear brothers, for your great spiritual and economic contribution to this work. Without God's help, none of this would have been possible.

Dear brothers, thank you for being a part of this ministry, thank you for your prayers that were the sustenance of our family. Now I ask God in my prayers, to pour out on you joy and peace, and bless you in this new year and to use you in the best way in your wonderful work. With this we say goodbye. Sincerely yours, Herrera Mamani.”

It is a joy to support the Herrera family as they continue the work of the ORH evangelist clinics.  They are a wonderful family, and we love them.

Pray for Buddy Fitzgerald who sponsors the clinics and works with Alex and Flor.  He and his wife, Lorin, are a great missionary couple who make possible the work of Alex and Flor.

God bless,

Jan Milton

Panama and Peru

Saturday, February 4, 2017

Dear Friends,

Panama 2017

A medical team of 44 people is currently in Panama City, Panama.  Most of the team arrived in Panama City last night from the United States.  The team is composed of members from the United States, Panama, and Peru.

A group of eleven team members will board helicopters from a flight service, Helipan, based at Panama City’s Albrook air field.  The rest of the team will drive 4 to 5 hours into the mountains to fly from the area called Coclecito.

Helipan is supplying three helicopters for the mission to Barrera, a village on the northern coast of Panama.  Without the helicopters the village would be almost unreachable in a safe and reasonable time.  Pray for the costs of reaching these people with the gospel.

Please pray for the team’s success and safety as they attempt to strengthen the church in Barrera that was started by a pastor saved through one of ORH’s earlier clinics.

Peru October 2016

Due to the work in Hurricane Matthew and other disasters, ORH has been unable to send a report about our Peru 2016 trip.  The clinic was held in and around the jungle town of Puerto Maldonado.  The town is in the southeastern Manu jungle region due east from Cusco.

Buddy and Loren Fitzgerald was our host missionary couple.  ORH has had the privilege of working with Buddy and Loren for several years.

Buddy led us to refugee villages that spring up and then just as quickly may disappear.  Two such villages were a great blessing as we helped the sick and preached the gospel.  Churches are now going forward under Buddy’s direction.

It was also our privilege to work in river villages.  The ORH team returned to a river village which is the home of native Peruvian tribal people.  Our first clinic there over two years prior was successful, and the follow up led to a church and a building.  A missionary family now conduct services there.

A great blessing was the salvation of a tribal chief at this village in 2016.

Churches require pastors.  Please pray for this need.  Pray that ORH will have the necessary funds to help Buddy and Loren acquire, train, and sustain these needed young preachers.

Pray for the 900 people who were helped and heard the gospel.  Please download the PDF.
