ALBANIA 2019 MEDICAL CLINIC

Dear Friends,

ALBANIA EVANGELISTIC MEDICAL CLINIC

It is always a blessing to tell about our evangelistic medical clinics.  In May 2019, ORH conducted four clinic days in Albania with missionaries Mike and Jennifer Fiocchi.  Mike is a missionary with Baptist World Mission.

This is the fourth clinic that ORH has joined with Mike Fiocchi.  The impacts have all been good with at least one church plant going strongly.  This clinic was conducted in the area around Korce which is in the south eastern part of Albania.  We visited 3 villages in the area, Maliq, Pojan, and Vreshtas.

The four clinic days were full of patients totaling 1075+.  As people came for their health care, they were asked to listen to a gospel message.  Mike and his faithful men, Ari and Andi gave the gospel as the team labored.  Four people came to Christ which was a great blessing.

As in other clinics, it was our great joy to go into an area which was heavily entrenched in religion and give a message of repentance and faith.  Pray now as we seek to follow up the work there.

Also, please pray for the people in the clinic area because of an earthquake which occurred on June 4, in the evening.  Mike sent us this message from the people in the area requesting help.

“The most necessary things to be considered for the following days:

Three meals/day for 180 people (breakfast, lunch, dinner) Beds, mattresses, pillows, blankets, Clothes, hygiene-sanitary day care packages, Latrines and portable showers, Kitchen utensils, Financial support for the restoration of the damaged houses, House furniture, We would appreciate your consideration for the above mentioned requests and cooperate with us to solve this considerable human crisis for these residents and Municipality of Korca.”

ORH has committed $1000.00 so Mike can help in the efforts.  Pray that this deeply religious area can be impacted by the compassion of Christ through the church.

Celina, OH and Malawi

Dear Friends,

OHIO TORNADOS

The tornados that tore through Ohio left many people in need.  Tim Shank from Calvary Baptist Church, Findlay, OH, wrote about known needs in the Celina, OH, area.

“Just talked to….  He is one of my former employers having worked for him for 7 years.  He is a leader in the Celina Church of the Nazarene.  This church is located about 100 yards from where a man was killed, and 6 houses are gone and many are seriously damaged.”

From Tim’s contact, ORH was able to reach Pastor Tom Cooper of Faith Baptist Church in Elida, OH.  Pastor Cooper agreed to help ORH to help the people in Celina that may be in need.  The goal is to give the Gospel and physical care.  Pray for this good brother and his church as they engage the world one soul at a time.

MALAWI VMA CLINIC

April 26, Eric Chapman and his team, conducted another medical clinic in a region of Malawi.  ORH has joined with Eric in these evangelistic medical clinics through the VMA (Village Medical Assistant) program.

The gospel was preached, and medical care provided to 223 people.  Eric wrote the following concerning the accomplished mission.

“Every person listened to the preaching of the Gospel before seeing a doctor and receiving medicine.  Two people were saved and about 8 others received spiritual counseling.”

ORH was privileged to provide $500.00 toward the cost of the clinic and is thankful for the partnership with Eric in the harvest of souls and the physical care of the people of Malawi.  Thank you, so much, Eric.  Please download the PDF to see pictures of the clinic.

IOWA FLOODING

MUKACHEVO, UKRAINE VMA CLINIC

Oleg and Lori Enskyy will be conducting another VMA clinic shortly.  They are working with the parents of special needs children.  Pray for these families who have little access to help for special needs children.  There has been a great spiritual impact in the lives of the parents as they receive help from professionals brought to them by the VMA clinic.

I have seen first-hand the encouragement to the parents of the children.  Pray God will use the compassion and love of Christ to encourage these good parents to believe in Christ.

ORH has sent $1000.00 to fund this effort.

LIBERIA

ORH is glad to announce our work in Liberia.  The Lord Shepherd’s Hope Foundation has been formed by pastors and leaders representing approximately 80 Liberian churches.  The foundation head is Pastor Joseph Nunu.  Pastor Nunu and several other Christian men and women have formed the foundation in order to work with ORH in the country of Liberia.

The future joint efforts of ORH and the Lord Shepherd’s Foundation will include assistance to Soul-winning Baptist Clinic, Village Medical Assistant clinics, ORH evangelistic medical clinics, birthing stations, INFUSE training medical training, agriculture efforts, training of pastors, evangelists, and building of churches.

Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Gordon Dickson, of Findlay, Ohio, has also joined with ORH in this effort.  On May 4^th and 5^th, 2019, planning meetings were held.  Pastor Dickson, Willard Long, Tim Shank, and Jan Milton met in planning sessions, and conducted two special Church services.  Willard and Tim had just returned from a survey trip to Liberia.

Please put this on your prayer list.  It is the goal of ORH to establish joint efforts in many countries.  Pray we will have the funds necessary to make a deep impact with the Gospel of Christ into the nations.

MALAWI FLOODING

MALAWI FLOODING AND VMA CLINIC

The situation is very bad in Malawi, as reported by missionary Eric Chapman.  ORH will help the churches and people with food and restoration through Eric.  Please read his email excerpt and see the PDF which contains pictures of the dire circumstances.

“The greatest need is in the Lower Shire region.

Our mission has grown in the past 6 years in the Lower Shire to over 90 churches. I was informed today that we may have as many as 1,200 families represented in these churches. I know of many churches that have lost their buildings and whole villages have been moved to higher ground. This means that they lost everything as they fled to safety. Most village houses are made of sun-dried bricks and mud, so they simply dissolve in a flood. I have reports as well of church members being killed when their houses fell on them.

It is also sad that only 2 weeks ago they were looking at a bumper crop this year but now much of those crops were destroyed. This area has suffered the greatest in the past five years. In the midst of this suffering, our preachers and church planters have also started many new churches and thousands have been saved.”

ORH is sending $1000.00 to help.  We are hoping to send another $2000.00.  Please post the pictures and let everyone pray for the devastated churches and people of Malawi.

Malawi VMA Clinic

Please pray for the next VMA clinic which will be held in Malawi.  Many receive Christ as a result of these helpful medical clinics.  It is not unusual for over 400 to attend the clinics.  Eric Chapman sent us this plan for the clinic.

“Clinic Location; Nsunji Lowlands  Dates of Proposed Clinic: April 27, 2019   

Number of Potential Patients: 200-400

General description of clinic plan:

This location is near one of our established churches in an open area with a temporary shelter built for our doctors to view patients. Through our network of churches and pastors in the surrounding area, about 8 other churches are involved. Local chiefs and the community at large are invited. Our team arrives by 8:00 am, usually to an already gathered crowd.  After the preaching, the people line up for the doctors: children with mothers, adults, and also eye exams and glasses….”

NURSES UGANDA / MEDICAL SUMMIT

Uganda Team, July 13-21, 2019

Thank you for the response about nurses for Albania in May.

In July ORH will be going to Uganda to conduct medical clinics with Missionary Keith Stensaas.  We need at least 8 nurses.  We are having to form two teams because of all the youth that desire to be a part of medical missions.  We have 50 people on the team presently; but sadly, not enough nurses.  We need at 8 more nurses so the teens can go this summer.  Please, send an email to jan@operationrenewedhope.org, if you can help us.  The teens have worked hard to train for this event.

Medical Mission Summit 2019

Thank you for praying for the Medical Mission Summit 2019, March 28-30.  There were thirteen speakers and presenters, ten adult sponsors, twenty-eight college students, and forty-one teens in attendance.  It was a blessing as they engaged true medical missionaries.

At the last service, ten young people came forward to surrender for medical missions should God open the door for them.  Several young people sought information about the Maranatha Baptist University Nursing Program for their future calling.

Bud Steadman, Director of Baptist World Mission, was the featured speaker.  Michael Fiocchi, Buddy Fitzgerald, and Dr. Tom Johnson, Baptist World Mission, represented medical missions on their respective fields. Missionary Jim Childress, Bible Baptist Fellowship, spoke explaining the work of twenty-seven years of medical missions in Panama. Captain Buddy Puryear (RET), nuclear submarine commander, spoke about his new boat ministry in the Caribbean.

Featured medical professionals were Dan Jones, PA; Dr. Harry Gibson, Dentist; Dr. Brian Barber, OD, Christy Holshouser, NP; and Ken Higgins, Optician.  Many others also contributed to the Medical Mission Summit.

ORH thanks Steven Board, Director of Development, and Susan Rasmussen, Director of Nursing.  Maranatha president, Dr. Marty Marriott, and all the staff of MBU were gracious, kind, and true servants to the young people.

FLORENCE AND MICHAEL UPDATE

Pastor Carl Wood of Anchor Baptist Church, Little River, SC, has written to us that Wayne Nixon’s home is finished after the damage from Hurricane Florence.  Ted Weinberg has been a great blessing to the church and the Nixon family.  ORH is thankful that so many supplied donations for this work to be completed.

“Ted and team finished the house February 21^st, and Wayne moved back into a home that was better than new.  Thank you so much for your help. Were it not for God using you and ORH, Wayne might still be displaced from his home.”

Pastor Steve Perrine and the people of Victory Baptist Church in Panama City, FL, wrote ORH concerning needed repair work from Hurricane Michael.  Insurance has settled with the Church, but the money will not cover all repairs.  Please read his last communication and pray.

“Bro. Milton, I wanted to give you an update on our church repairs and to ask for your prayers about something. We have this past Friday contracted with a roof company that has done work for our church before to fix our roof and to put our new roof on…. I covet your prayers for this part of the project to be done in a timely manner. I also would appreciate your prayers as the team I mentioned to you before…have decided not to do a spring project so they will not be coming our way in May….  I along with my men are seeking the Lord's wisdom in which steps to take next. It is that time of year for planning our trips in May and July.  In May, ORH will be working in Albania, and in July, ORH will be working in Uganda.  Our pre-trips to these locations were very successful, and we are prepared to go.
