Houston, South Florida, Dominica, Puerto Rico

Saturday, September 30, 2017

Dear Friends,

Houston

Thank God for Pastor Michael Garrison, Maranatha Baptist Church, Grayslake, IL, for sending a man from his church to help Pastor Cover.

Churches are calling about work teams.  Thank you for doing so.  We need skilled workers; the need is immediate and urgent.  Please, volunteer now, because the needed work is great.

Dominica

The first flight landed Friday with 1400 pounds of food for the Challengers, who work with the Carib families of Dominica.  Mr. Ken Kirkland and his wife, Caribbean Lighthouse Radio, graciously scheduled a charter flight and purchased the food.  ORH agreed to pay the costs of the flight and supplies.  Another flight is being scheduled for next week.  Pray that ORH will have the money to make this flight happen.

Pray for missionary David Ballinger who is moving food out of St Vincent by a sailing yacht for the people of Dominica.  ORH has food on that boat and will assist in the costs for the sailing.

Puerto Rico

Thank God for Brother Tim Langford who has supplied his plane for flights into Puerto Rico.  He and Dave Spangler are flying into Ponce, PR today. We need more twin engine planes.

Thank God for Mike Coupe and Dave Spangler for their work with ORH.  We are thrilled to have these men who put their lives on the line each time they fly.  Because of their flights people have food, evacuation, and supplies.

This sacrificial Spirit is a great blessing. When Mike landed in San Juan yesterday, he discovered a ruptured seal on his left propeller.  Mike found the parts, repaired it, and is back in the air today.  Pray for weather that it will not ground our planes

Thank God for Elwood Pfaunmiller and Pastor Mark Worsham who have now made it successfully to Ponce, PR.  They have a sat phone and are waiting for their first shipment of supplies.  They have made contact this morning with ORH about the needs they are gathering.  At the airort, they have cleared that our planes may land and off-load.  They are now in contact with missionary Jeremy Markle and local pastors.

Pray for Bacilio Alfaro, Puerto Rican Baptist College, as ORH helps secure and move generators to his school.  Food is now a real problem for his school; pray ORH will have the funds for the pilots and their planes to move the food.  Bacilio is working in both Puerto Rico and the US to supply and raise funds.

Thank God for all the churches who have helped Dr. Johnny Daniels and his church and schools in Carolina, PR.  Continue to pray for his great needs

South Florida

God is supplying for the people.  Thank God for Anchor Baptist Mission, Hearts with Hands, and other like-minded Biblical groups who are working.  These groups deserve our support.

Operation Renewed Hope joined with Nehemiah’s Network to deliver needed supplies for Tri-City Baptist Church, Port Charlotte, FL, and Marathon Baptist Church, Marathon, FL. with a trucker working through ORH.

The trucker, C.W. Burnett, after the delivery, drove to Trinity Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL, where ORH secured 12 pallets of blankets, 12 pallets of pillows, 1 pallet of hospital gloves, and 1 pallet of hospital masks for Marathon Baptist Church.   Brother Burnett was a great God-send to ORH.

Thank God for all the work of ORH Board Member, Pastor Guy Altizer.  He and Don Dobbs delivered a straight truck of appliances to Marathon Baptist Church.  Returning to South Carolina, they drove back through Bonita Springs to check on Gospel Baptist Church.  They then drove to Winkler Road Baptist Church, Pastor Don Strange where they found an older couple in need to repair their home.  Please, if you can help, call Pastor Altizer at 864-906-4647, Windows of Heaven Ministries.

There is more to write; much is happening; time is out for today.  God is so good.

WE NEED SKILLED AND UNSKILLED WORKERS AND TWIN ENGINE AIRPLANES.

Puerto Rico and South Florida

Wednesday, September 27, 2017

Dear Friends,

This is a long email.  I wanted this to be in the words of the people in Puerto Rico.  Dr. Johnny Daniels’ gave ORH this report:

The college was destroyed.  The day school is intact, but the roof was badly damaged by the winds and as much as 6 inches of water flooded the school rooms from the damaged roof.  Almost all the school rooms have been compromised.  The church roof also was damaged and water came in the building damaging the inside of the church.

Dr. Daniels says he needs these things.

  1. Dr. Daniels needs $8000.00 per classroom to restore his Christian School (This must happen as quickly as possible.)
  2. Dr. Daniels purchased a 500 KW generator for $55,000.00.  After paying a deposit of $10,000.00, he now needs $45,000.00 to complete the purchase and shipment costs of the generator.  He has received about half the needed funds.  This money is needed immediately.
  3. Dr. Daniels needs work teams to strip out his buildings.  He can house10 workers per week.  The workers must be self-sustained.  These workers do not need to be skilled laborers.

We are waiting to hear from others on the island.

Pray for Puerto Rico Bible College.  Pastor Doug Cowan, chairman of the board, spoke with me on the phone about the school.  There is much need at the ministry.  Brother Bacilio Alfaro wrote the following about the PRBC needs.

“Dear Faithful Friends,   We know that many of you are anxiously hoping to hear more of the situation in Puerto Rico, and we want to keep it fresh on your minds so that you will continue to pray. Many have asked if we have had contact with our people in Puerto Rico. Yes, we have been in communication with PRBC, though communication is sporadic at best. We were informed yesterday that our cafeteria has sustained some structural damage, as well as roof damage. To what extent, we are not yet sure, more importantly, all our folks are well, for which we humbly praise the Lord.

Many of our Christian brethren on the island have lost everything. One church with a Christian school and seminary has had a loss valued at $200,00.00 in their buildings and belongings. The church pastored by my administrative assistant at the college lost half of its roof. A church pastored by one of our graduates in another town has had a loss valued at $25,000.00. We are still trying to make contact with some of the pastors to see how they fared, but some of the towns are cut off completely because the roads, bridges and communication were washed out and not yet reestablished. Many are running low on food, fuel, and drinking water. Please continue to pray with us.

The governor is asking that people not come to the island as there is no water yet, and gasoline is being rationed, it is difficult to buy food, etc. One may purchase only $20.00 worth of gasoline. At anywhere from .95 to 1.03 a liter, that won’t get one very far. Many gas stations were destroyed, the wait to be able to buy is up to more than 4 hours wait. The gas trucks are having a hard time getting through to deliver gasoline to the still existing gas stations because of washed out bridges, heavy debris, mudslides, and even in some cases, parts of buildings in the roads. There are presently no building materials to be bought on the island, so not much can be done to repair damage done.

Another situation is that cash must be used as no one is accepting cards because of no electricity and no internet. We are working on a way to get cash to them in, though we did hear that a few branches of the bank PRBC uses were going to open. We are waiting to hear something about that. Lines in the stores are extremely long as they are permitting only one person into a store at a time and the person must be escorted by an employee while they are in the store. Insecurity and disrespect for law has set in and has produced an very unstable atmosphere on the island. All that to say this, God is still on the throne and He never forsakes His own. We trust that soon things will soon stabilize, but meantime we want to continue to be used of God in these trying times.

Because pastors have asked to repeat the address information about where to send any donations, we are including it again. Until further notice, if you would like to contribute toward PRBC recovery effort you may write checks payable to PRBC and, as mail service is still not back up, please mail them to Bacilio Alfaro 3945 Champagne Dr. Jonesboro, GA 30236. Thank you. May the Lord bless and use you for His honor and glory.  In the hollow of Our God’s almighty hand, Bacilio & Eunice Alfaro”

The work is going forward.  There is much to tell about the needs in Houston, South Florida, Puerto Rico, Dominica, and Mexico.  Situations are very bad.  Pray we will have the income to help these places, churches, and people.

Hurricane Update

Monday, September 25, 2017

Dear Friends,

Houston

God is blessing our work in Houston.  We are hoping to provide more funds for those who are in need through the churches with which Pastor William Cover is working.  Please read his report that truly tells a wonderful story.

“Thank you for all of your prayers and gifts.  God has been blessing abundantly here at Arise Baptist Church.  We spent about six hours on Saturday taking supplies out to hard hit neighborhoods.  This gave us several wonderful opportunities to share the gospel and pray with those in need.  It was exciting yesterday to have 13 first time guests in our service with many of those as a result of our efforts this past week to help those hurting after Harvey.  We were able to take some of the ORH finances provided to four other churches this weekend as well.  Pastor David Cripps at Victory Baptist Church has received some of the funds and supplies from ORH.  I know they have seen several new people in services as a result of these efforts.  It is wonderful to see Pastor Cripp’s home beginning to be put back together utilizing people from ORH work teams as well as the finances that have been provided.  Pastor Rick Shrader is getting his building put back together at Tri-County Baptist Church.  Without the gifts of finances and the time and effort of the work teams, the process of rebuilding would take much longer.  If you visit our Facebook page at Arise Baptist Church you can view a video we shared of a lady we helped this past week.  Her family was in our church services yesterday.  The gifts from ORH are doing much to spread the message of the gospel here in Houston!  In Christ,  Pastor Will Cover, Arise Baptist Church, Houston, TX

Pastor William Cover must have sheet-rockers, carpet layers, and carpenters.  We need help.

ORH is also going to help more families with a financial gift who are being presented by Pastor Cover to ORH.  We hope to help 10 more families.

Puerto Rico and Dominica

ORH needs twin engine airplanes for work in the Maria storm area.  Please call 910-987-5072.

Mike Coup is scheduled to fly to Puerto Rico on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week with the first help for Dr. Daniels plus disaster relief equipment.  ORH Air Hope will provide the fuel costs for this flight.

Yadin Rodriguez of Iglesias Bautista Christiana has arranged for pilots to come to the Dominican Republic and fly missions from there.  We can buy everything needed in the Dominican Republic.  We can purchase enough food to feed 60 families for about $150.00.  Pray for God’s help the island is heavily populated and food could become a problem.

ORH is working with Tim Challenger to help his missionary parents on the island of Dominica.  The situation there is bad.  Ken Kirkland of Caribbean Lighthouse Radio has agreed to help us get food to the people of Dominica.  Pray for planes to fly.

Hurricane Update

Sunday, September 24, 2017

Dear Friends,

People are calling ORH about Mexico Earthquake.  ORH has sent $1000.00 to the church mentioned in the report sent by David Shumate, MGMI missions, in Phoenix, AZ.

Please read David’s report.

“Jan,  Thank you so much for the help of ORH with the team going to Mexico City.

The church sending the team is: Evangelical Baptist Church, 2925 West Polk Street

Phoenix, AZ 85009.

The church is a fundamental Baptist church that was founded by the father of Dr. Dick Mercado in 1930. It is our home church and is partners with MGMI in the Hispanic and Latin American work. The Pastor's name is Steve Rubio. If he has cell phone service in Mexico City, he can be reached at 602-291-2497

The church in Mexico City is:   Iglesia Bíblica Bautista Antioquía (Antioch Bible Baptist Church),  Calle Nezahualcóyotl 51, Col. Centro, Centro, 06000 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico, Latitude and Longitude: 19 degrees 25' 33" N   99 degrees 08' 23" W, Website: http://ibbafi.blogspot.com/.  God bless you and your vital leadership at this time.  Dave Shumate, 602-516-8497.

Pastor Steve Rubio of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona (a bi-lingual church) writes:  On early Thursday morning our team of 17 members of the Evangelical

Baptist Church a Phoenix Arizona left for Mexico City to work with Antioch Baptist Church

and its pastor, Victor Santamaria. Thanks to God's providence, we already had a team prepared to go and help with their 20th anniversary evangelistic conferences over the weekend. After the devastating earthquake, we prayerfully decided to go ahead with the trip and use it to help the church minister in the aftermath of the quake.

Even before we left Phoenix, the Antioch Baptist Church had already sent supplies t

o an area south of Mexico City, near Cuernavaca, that has received little help so far. Praise the Lord, He has made available at least one bus to transport volunteers and supplies to the area of need.

Thank you so much for your prayer and support for this effort to show the love of Christ and share the salvation of Christ in this tragic time.”

Pray; ORH must have funds to help, when the team returns with a true report of what is happening in Mexico City.

Harvey Maria Irma

Thursday, September 21, 2017

Dear Friends;

The work in Irma is developing, and ORH is thankful to be a part of the work along with so many others who are devoted believers in our independent churches around the country.

Thank God for the Karl and Cathy Steudl from Emmanuel Baptist Church, Winchester, VA, Pastor Steve Rebert.  They have been in Florida since the beginning of Irma.  They went to Island Community Baptist Church and began working with Pastor Tony Hammon.  ORH through Kevin Kelley, Acme Logistics, Greenville, SC received a trailer of food.  Cathy Sent us this report.  She was able to send pictures of student art work of the Word of God on the walls of the school.

“As you can see, Island Christian School was home to Law Enforcement during Hurricane Irma. And as you can see, these officers were surrounded by the Word of God. Karl and I were able to give them gospel tracts that we carry and show them the love of Christ in practical ways.

We thank the law enforcement officers who continue to serve during this disaster. We also thank Island Christian school for opening their building to shelter them in the midst of the storm.”

See the PDF for more of their work.

ORH and Nehemiah’s Network are now concentrating on supplying two churches with supplies.  Marathon Baptist Church, Pastor Nick Wielander and Pastor Jay Shepperd of Tri-City Baptist Church in Port Charlotte.  A 53 ft trailer is headed to them with water and food for this week-end.

The tractor and trailer is being provided by C.W. Burnett who is a member of East Park Baptist Church in Decatur, IL.  Pastor Ryan Banmam contacted ORH about his churches participation and Brother Burnett.

Also, Hillsdale Baptist of Tampa and First Baptist of Westwood Lake in Miami are searching for refrigerators, washers, and dryers for the people in and around the Marathon, FL, area.  Pastor Wielander says there is a great need.  Pray for the churches to be successful in their search.

Pastor Guy Altizer, Windows of Heaven Ministries, is also working with us.  He has contacted Pastor Don Strange and his church to see if ORH can join in their ministry to the community.  We have just received the first Pastor’s Recommendation Forms back from him of families needing help.

Pray for ORH, we have just joined with David Shumate of MGM, International in Phoenix, AZ, to help the churches in Mexico City.  A team leaves today to assess the situation for work to be done.  Pray for their safety.  ORH is providing $1000.00 for their efforts.

Helping the Caribbean

Tuesday, September 19, 2017

Dear Friends;

The problems from Irma in the Caribbean are about to be compounded by Maria.  This storm is going to be as bad if not worse.  Please read this email from Bacilio Alfaro, director of a Puerto Rico Bible college.

“Dear Bro. Jan,  I started a generator fund and sent out a letter to my supporting churches and friends, so far, we have we been promised $5,550.00 which includes the $2,000.00 you committed to send a couple of weeks ago. If you are still so inclined, would you please make out the check to PRBC and send it to PRBC P. O. Box 403 Bayamon, PR 00960. We trust to have all of this money by the end of next week. We are trying to raise enough money to buy two generators (as well as the necessary thick cables) that will generate at least 8,000 kilowatts each of constant-flow current. There are no generators to be bought on the island….Bacilio”

By faith, ORH will send the $2000.00 to Brother Alfaro.  He is a good man in whom ORH places complete trust and pleasure.

Please pray for Pastor Johnny Daniels, Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Carolina, Puerto Rico and his Bible College graduates in the Caribbean.

“Dear Brother Milton:  Pastor Daniels asked me to send you the following information regarding the Pastor we will be working with to get help to the believers in Anguilla affected by Hurricane Irma. Pastor Norril Gumbs, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1306

The Valley, Anguilla, B.W.I.

Relief checks can be made out to:  Calvary Baptist Tabernacle

Once the plane is able to make the trip, we will send you pictures and more information regarding the damages, etc.

Thank you for your concern and help during this time. Miriam Garcia, Secretary”

Pastor Daniel’s ministry in Puerto Rico has sent pastors all over the Caribbean, and his church is of the finest quality.

Please pray funds will be available to help.

Update Harvey and Irma

Tuesday, September 12, 2017

Dear Friends,

We are thankful for all those who have joined with ORH to help others in need.  Southland Christian Camp in Ringgold, LA, led by Mike Herbster is one of those organizations.  Please read his report.

“It is the joy of Southland and ORH to host the Imani Milele Ugandan Christian choir in wake of the flooding in Houston.  Several of their stops in Houston have been canceled and they had lost their housing because of it.  This organization collects funds to help orphaned children in Uganda have a chance to get a good education and learn through a strong Christian environment.  ORH could use your help to be able to be able to house them and feed them at this time.  It is great that Southland has a place for them to stay and can provide the necessary meals for them during this time as well.  Please consider what you can do to assist financially to meet this need.”

ORH is joining with Southland to help meet the need of these young people who are visiting our country to sing in churches.  Pray all goes well and the funds are available.

Irma in Florida has left many in need.  We are thankful that the loss of life was not as great as feared.

ORH representatives are on their way at this time to the south of Florida.  Karl and Mary Catherine Steudl are almost in the middle of Florida on I 75 at the time of this writing.  Their hope is to reach First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake in Miami.  From there, they will be attempting to reach Pastor Tony Hammon in Islamarado.  His church can work with the churches in the Florida Keys.

Brother Kevin Kelley is on his way now with 10 pallets of disaster supplies for the churches in the Keys.  We are hopeful that he will be able to go all the way to Pastor Hammon.  ORH is so thankful for Brother Kelley.  He has a burden to help and puts the burden in shoe leather.

ORH along with Nehemiah’s Network will be shipping 30 pallets of water to Islamarado.  Pastor Ryan Banman from East Park Baptist Church in Decatur, IL, called and told ORH of a truck driver in his church who wished to help.  Thank God, Brother C.W. Burnett will be helping us move the 30 pallets from the warehouses in Cleveland to the churches in the Keys.  Pray this can happen very quickly.

Thank all of you who have sent money or work teams.  ORH is so thankful for the partners that never fail to work with our operations in the US and around the world.

If you know of any sheet-rockers, carpet layers, or tile workers available, please have them contact ORH about working in the Houston area.  Operation Renewed Hope could possibly help with their costs.  There are so many who need help.  If you can volunteer time, please let ORH know.

Pray for our Caribbean brethren.  ORH is pursuing those churches and individuals that need help.

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

Update Hurricane Harvey

Monday, September 18, 2017

Dear Friends;

This has been a demanding year and a destructive year because of the storms in the Atlantic.  ORH cannot thank the churches and individuals enough for all the work teams and financial donations made available to ORH for the impact zone.

Last week, I enjoyed visiting with Pastor Roger Parrish and Western Hills Baptist Church in Victoria, TX, during their missions conference.  In order to have their scheduled missions conference people provided lodging and RV’s for the visiting missionaries.  The church was not damaged, but the area was impacted very adversely by the winds of Harvey.  Damage was apparent in all areas of the town.

While in Houston last week, I visited with Pastor William Cover speaking in his church.  Pastor Cover took me to the churches with which he had been working.  Pastor Rick Shrader was a great blessing as we saw all the work that he was doing (see PDF).

Also, Pastor David Cripps of Victory Baptist Church was a great blessing.  I visited his church, homes of members, and his home.  All of the visits increased the awareness of the great need for work teams.

Thanks to Tim Barber for bringing several young men from his church in Mishawaka, IN.  Thanks also to Cody Bill and his people from Southland Christian Camp for coming and working.  Cody brought a trailer load of equipment to help Pastor Shrader.

ORH has now sent money to families recommended by their pastors in six churches providing at least $400.00 to each family.  Sadly, more must be done for the over-powering needs.

If you wish to give by credit or debit card, please go to www.operationrenewedhope.org and choose “Network for Good.”  Please designate the gift for your specific purpose using “My preference is” then stipulate your preference.

Harvey Update

Sunday, September 10, 2017

Medical Mission Summit,

Maranatha Baptist University,

Sept. 21-23, 2017,

Please register young people as soon as possible.  Pastors and young adults this is an opportunity to see the future investment in the Gospel through medical missions.  Even if you are not considering medical as a life calling, you can engage in medical missions.  Come and hear about the opportunities.

Dear Friends,

This report just came in from Pastor Cover.  We are very thankful for the work that Pastor Cover has done.  Please read his report.

“The last couple of days have been full of work teams doing cleanup and supplies being distributed.  We have sent men to help Pastor David Cripps to tear out and clean up at his home as well as the home of his next-door neighbor.  This neighbor does not know Christ as his Savior and previous to this has not been receptive even to friendly conversation from Pastor Cripps.  However, he needed help to clean up his home after the flood and so a group of men who came down from Harrisonville, MO with Pastor Randy Foster, and two men that came from Louisiana with Pastor Rob Fleshman helped him to get his home cleaned up over the past couple of days.  What an open door for ministry!

Yesterday, as we passed out supplies from the back of a truck in the neighborhood we had the opportunity to pass out many tracts and pray with many people.  We have met so many different people in our community through this effort.  One of the ladies in our church met some of her neighbors out volunteering with another group.  What a great opportunity for her to meet her neighbors and invite them to our church.  We were giving supplies yesterday to a senior living center (55 and over community) and while we were there we were invited to begin leading a Bible study there each week as well.

One exciting thing for me as a pastor to see, is many of our new folks in the church jumping in and serving with our church in our community.  Last night one of our men texted and asked where he could work today.  He has been in the church for just about a month now.  God is building His church and He is using these opportunities to serve others to solidify and build this local body. I am thankful for all of the help and support from ORH to provide the funds, supplies, and know-how to accomplish so much in so little time!  Please keep praying for us. I just got off the phone a few minutes ago with a man named Ricky. We helped his family a few days ago. They are planning to join us for church tomorrow. Thank you for giving financially. We have given funds that ORH has provided to many families in need and helped some other churches financially as well!  In Christ, Pastor Will Cover, Arise Baptist Church.”

Pray for Arise Baptist Church as they work for the Lord in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.  Please download the PDF.

Harvey and Irma are sweet hearts

Sunday, September 10, 2017

Medical Mission Summit, Maranatha Baptist University, September 21-23, 2017, Register at www.mbu.edu.  This is going to be a time for teenagers to consider medical missions as a life-calling.

Dear Friends,

Operation Renewed Hope has a further update on Hurricane Harvey, and a new update on Hurricane Irma.

Currently, we have three churches that have agreed to help in the Irma disaster.  Pastor Marc Mortensen of First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake in Miami has agreed to help.  His church has endured many disaster events and helped to send aid in so many disasters that have not impacted them; and now they are the target of a monstrous storm.  Even in this, they are offering to be a distribution site.

Also, we have a distribution church in Orlando, Eastland Baptist Church; and one distribution church in Winter Garden, Calvary Baptist Church.  There is a fourth church but we have not reached them as of this update.

Thank God for Pastor Tim Potter, Arch Ministries, in Mentor, OH, for sending us distribution churches and churches in the impact areas who might need help.  Pastor Potter is a very gracious man with a compassionate ministry of discipleship around the United States.

Thank God Pastor Potter gave ORH two of his best to go to Houston.  They are trained and certified disaster specialist.  Working tirelessly with Pastor Cover, they helped him direct the ministry to the people.  Pastor Cover said they were the best of encouragement and help.  Thank God for their servant leadership.

Thank God for Karl and Mary Catherin Steudl of Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church in Winchester, VA, Pastor Steve Rebert.  They leave this morning for Irma.  They are trained and certified disaster experts who are willing to help direct ORH efforts in the Irma impact area.  Presently, ORH has the funds to move them to the area, but not enough for the actual ministry.  Even though, they are aware of this; they are willing to go by faith that ORH will have the funds when they arrive in the Irma impact area to work.  They are true volunteers in the Lord’s army.

Their efforts already have been greatly blessed.  A business man heard of their coming work and bought them a commercial dehumidifier.  This is wonderful news because of all the houses which must be dried-out before restoration.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Pastor Alan Jenkins of Nehemiah’s Network sent out another truck of food to Hurricane Harvey.  Praise God.  The difficulty is this depleted our food supply.  We now only have pallets of water.  Pray we will have food.

Dr Huey Mills of Fellowship Bible Church in Lancaster, SC has suggested we contact Second Harvest to buy food.  If your church is close to a Second Harvest Food Bank would you call and see if they will sell food.  If they say, “Yes.”; please call us immediately (910-987-5072).

Thank God for Pastor Tim Driggers.  ORH worked with his church just outside of Columbia during a flood which almost destroyed his church.  He wrote the following.

“Bro Jan, this is pastor Driggers from Congaree Baptist Church in SC. You helped us a great deal after the 2015 flood and spoke at our church some time after. We wanted to know what y'all are doing in Texas and we are receiving a collection over the next two Sundays and wanted know how to pass that on to you for relief in Texas. Thank you for all your hard work. Awaiting Your Reply, Rev Tim Driggers.”

Thank God for our dear brothers in New York who went through Hurricane Sandy.  We were privilege to help them in their time of need.  Now, they are some of the first to send donations to help others.  In every disaster effort, previous recipients of disaster help return the good.

WHAT A BLESSING.

A second update will be sent today.  Pastor Cover and Mike Herbster have great blessings to share.  Too many blessings to put in one email.  GOD IS GOOD.

Hurricane Harvey

Wednesday, September 6, 2017

Medical Mission Summit, Maranatha Baptist University, Watertown, WI

September 21-23, 2017, 9th through 12th grade, Young Adults, Adults, www.mbu.edu

Dear Friends,

The work continues as we attempt to help the churches and communities of Houston.  Please pray for the many workers now converged on Houston.

Pray for Pastor Cripps and the families of Victory Baptist Church of Baytown, TX.  His church has experienced many needs in the families of the Church.  We received this from their church.

“Hello Pastor Cover, Pastor Cripps asked me to send these forms to you. Please find attached 8 forms from Victory Baptist Church and its members. There are two more forms that haven't been turned in yet, I hope to have them to you tomorrow night. Thanks so much,….Office Manager, Victory Baptist Church”

Pray for Pastor Cover and the vigilant workers who are coming to Houston to help.  Pastor Cover sent me this report.

“God has been good this week.  Each day has been an adventure but God is clearly in charge.  We were able to unload and distribute the entire 53’ trailer load of supplies in about 4 hours yesterday morning.  We then took a load of water to a church in Beaumont.  They have had their water shut off there so they were in desperate need.  As soon as we could unload the water it was being put into people’s cars.  We have two work teams currently here on the ground and more on the way.  There is so much to be done.  Today we went to a neighborhood and began going from house to house helping people with supplies and pulling carpet.  Several people told us we were the first people that had come to help them from anywhere.  I am thankful that the Lord led us to them.  We were able to pray with a number of people and share the gospel many times.  God continues to supply needs and work out logistics in amazing ways.  When we arrived at the dock Monday morning to unload the semi-trailer there had been a miscommuni-cation with the fork lift operators that were supposed to meet us.  Their boss found out what had happened and wanted to make it up to us.  He is making a large donation to help us with our efforts here.  God is supplying needs through so many different means!  I wish I had time to write about everything God has done but that will have to wait for another time!  There is such an open door to minister to people here because so many are hurting.  We can literally walk into strangers’ homes and as long as we have some supplies or tools to help they welcome us with open arms, let us pray with them, and share the gospel with them!  Thank you for your prayers and support.  In Christ, Pastor Will Cover, Arise Baptist Church, Houston, TX.”

Thank God for Pastor Cover and his church plant, Arise Baptist Church.  Thank God for Pastor David Harris and his Faith Baptist Church, Palmhurst, TX, who has driven all the way to Houston with trucks and trailers to help Pastor Cover.

Please consider coming with a work team.  We need both unskilled and skilled workers for next week.  The cleanup is progressing and becoming larger with each day.  We need each church to consider sending two (2) to three (3) workers to help.  Pastor Cover must have help!!!  Please send an email to jan@operationrenewedhope.org if you can help.

Thank God for those who consistently share ORH reports.  Here are just a few. ORH says thank you to Rachel Ulmer Vradenburgh, Julie Bradberry Clum, Sandy Corbin Dowless, Blaine R. Gaudette, Rose Lee Song, Mike and Donna Abbott, Eileen Muledy DeAngelo, Terry Munday, Frank Bullock, Jo Bubnekovich Crews, Amy Tadlock Cooksey, and many more to come.  ORH says Thank you.

Thank God for this report from Pastor Travis Smith, Hillsdale Baptist Church in Tampa, FL. His church has raised money and are sending teams.  Operation Renewed Hope flew 4 of their people into the area through Dave Spangler and the ORH ministry, AIR HOPE. They are sending a second team and hope to send a third team.

Thank God for Randy Foster, Mission Pastor. Heartland Baptist Fellowship in Harrisonville, MO, for sending a work team to help.

We have so many to thank that we will do it in the next update.

Hurricane Harvy

Monday, September 4, 2017

Dear Friends,

Pastor Cover, Arise Baptist Church, wrote the following updates.

“More than 32,000 residents remain in Texas shelters.  As many as 40,000 homes may have been damaged in Houston and Harris County alone.  Almost 210,000 people have registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for assistance.”

“We are working with three different churches that have been flooded. I have been in contact with all of the pastors. Their biggest need at their churches will be finances to get them repaired. I have given all of them the ORH forms.  We have several folks who have been flooded out that we are going to be able to help as well. We are working to get the list compiled of people that need help. I have pastors helping me with this now.  I am in contact with several churches around town and have a place for the items arriving to go. I am waiting on the address and information for the loading dock but we now have a forklift, operator, and dock all promised to us. We need help organizing trucks, trailers, etc. to coordinate the delivery of supplies to those in need.”

Jeanie Mauch Cummings sent a message through facebook which was kind.  Jeanie is not the only one who helps us.  We have several who constantly share our updates.  In our next updates, we will mention some of these special people.  Read what Jeanie wrote.

“Love to see these churches put faith into action William and Shandi Cover & David Harris and Operation Renewed Hope with Jan Milton are bringing in truckloads of cleaning supplies, food, water and people to help with cleanup and providing necessities. Contact operationrenewedhope.org to donate or volunteer. We've known these men and ministries for years. And Operation Renewed Hope does amazing work in disaster relief around the world. And now here in Texas. Thank you. Praying for you.”

Thank God for Dr. Rick Arrowood, Pastor of Cross Point Baptist Church of Indianapolis, IN.  The church will be receiving an offering for the work in Houston.

Thank God for Justin Jarrett of Hillsdale Baptist Church organizing two teams of workers.  Dave Spangler with Air Hope flew one team from Tampa to Houston today.

Thank God for Pastor Brent Snook and First Baptist Church of Glenn Estes, Batavia, OH.  His church will be investing in the work in Houston.
