Dear Friends,
As ORH goes forward, it is often our privilege to rejoice in
the way God’s people help us to help those in real need. One such
instance is Mrs. Betty Vest an elderly lady in the Columbia, SC flood
area. She is a widow whose husband was a preacher in the area where
she resides outside of Columbia. Her single wide trailer was damaged in
the flooding from hurricane “Joaquin.”
David Smith, music director at Grace Baptist Church in West
Columbia, SC, and his pastor, Bill Egerdahl sought to help Mrs. Vest.
Their church’s efforts in behalf of those in “Joaquin,” especially Mrs. Vest
has been a true ministry of “pure religion”. They have restored Mrs.
Vest’s trailer and worked with many more in the area. Download the
pictures from the work on Mrs. Vest’s home and rejoice in the good work.
Recently, I preached at Congaree Baptist Church and saw the
water force that caused the damage to their church and to Mrs. Vest’s
trailer. The people of the church were solid as a rock in their support
of their church as they filled the temporary church room with their pastor,
Brother Driggers. The church and pastor send their thanks to all who have
helped them to get into their buildings again and have services. Although
their main auditorium is far from ready, they are rejoicing to be in their
fellowship room holding services and told me over and over to thank others who
have helped them.
Those of you who have worked, ORH says thank you.
