Pakistan and Peru Updates

Pakistan Thank You

A few weeks ago ORH sent $800.00 to Sam Stricklin with MAP an organization working in Islamic countries to spread the Gospel.  Sam informed us of the needs of Pastor Ashar, Pastor Seral’s wife, and Pastor Arif’s son, David.  ORH was able to send the funds to help these men of God with their family’s needs.

Sam sent us their letter of thanks for all that was done.  The information below was listed in the “Praises” section of their letter.

“For God’s provision for Pastor Ashar Ayub’s home. Brother Ashar’s home was badly damadged by the flooding from the rain. Last month, he had requested for urgent help. The Lord heard your prayers and provided for the repair of Pastor’s Ashar’s home.  For God’s provision for Pastor Seral’s wife’s medical needs. His wife needed medical assistance for hernia surgery. Praise the Lord for the successful surgery and the financial provision.  For God’s provision for Pastor Arif’s  5 month old son, David's medical needs”

These are God’s choice believers in a very difficult and dangerous ministry.  Their entire letter was testimony to God’s work in the hearts of the people through their ministry efforts.  Pray for God to continue blessing them.

Peru Clinic Follow-up

Alex and Flor have been working in the Pillcopata area of the Manu jungle to follow up our work with the medical clinic which they helped to conduct.  Please read their latest report.  ORH sends them $250.00 to $300.00 a month by faith. 

“Beloved brethren, many greetings from the brothers in Pillcopata, Peru. Grace and peace to you all from our good God and our savior, Jesus Christ. Beloved brethren, this month of August has been one of many blessings, for we now have the help of another missionary family, who help us in the services by preaching. This also allows us to reach more people with the gospel and to spend more time discipling the brothers. The brothers here are very happy with the way God is manifesting himself in their lives. Many of them have seen the changes that the Word of God is doing in their own families: and all of this is thanks to God and also thanks to your prayers. On the hand, beloved brothers, during August we had to make a trip with my family to have a sonogram done for my wife in order to know how our second son is developing. According to the results, our son is very healthy, thanks to God, but my wife is the one who is having some complications. They say that she has placenta previa, which complicates things, but we trust more in God and his power. For this reason, brothers, I ask for your prayers, in order that God would be glorified in all of this. However, this means my wife needs to be in the city in order to give birth in Cusco during October. We just found out that the 30th of September there is supposed to be an indefinite strike by the all the coca growers in the area. This could go on for a long time, causing problems traveling because they would be closing all roads in and out of Cusco. For this reason I ask for your prayers in order that God in his sovereign will would intervene. Beloved brothers, during this month with the other missionary we are working on a plan for next year, and we have many goals and much confidence that God will direct our hearts and lives to do His work.   With all this I close, thanking you for each on of your prayers and for your financial help which you give us.   Sincerely, the Herrera Family, Missionaries in Pillcopata, Cusco, Peru

What a blessing to hear of their work and accomplishments.  Last month ORH sent an extra $1000.00 to help purchase a motorcycle type conveyance.  We are hoping to send $500.00 more shortly to finish paying for this small vehicle which they will fill bringing people to church in the Peruvian jungle.

AIR HOPE Dominican Blessing

Dear Friends,

 

This is our latest report from Dominica which was struck by the storm, Erica.  Please download the PDF to see the work happening there.  Please pray for missionary Mike Coupe as he continues the work with the people.

ORH thanks Dr. Johnny Daniels, senior missionary to the Caribbean for his assistance, advice, and work.  He has been a source of light and blessing through his Bible College to all the Caribbean Islands. 

“Good morning Pastor Jan,  The work that we set out to do has been accomplished. I am in PR and will be flying out commercially today for home at 2:00. I am leaving my airplane with Brother Mike Coupe and he will carry on the work here. He has set up a ware house for supplies and has put a local man (out of his church) in charge of distribution to their church family first then their community and then to surrounding communities. They have set up a rope an pulley system across one of the cut out roads to a community that cannot be reached any other way. I was not able to get pictures of that system but will. It is a great work that Brother Mike is doing in Dominica, I have seen it first hand and would be in full support of what he is doing. I could not leave my airplane with him if that were not so. We have prayed for an Aztec down here and now it is here. It is God's plane for His service….Thank you for your help through Operation Renewed Hope/Air Hope, I could not have done it without it.  God bless,  Dave Spangler - FLYN4GOD”

Calvin George a missionary pilot in Puerto Rico (PR) wrote the following as he worked with Dave Spangler and Mike Coupe.

“When we got to the Coupe’s home they had no water service (only a trickle). They took us to a river for a bath where other Dominicans were bathing as well. I had to find some bushes to change into a pair of shorts before getting in the river, and then again to get dressed after getting out.  That evening we went to the service at the church which Mike Coupe pastors….The people at church were very kind. The testimony of a young man that had a leg amputated after being shot by the police (before he knew the Lord) was a blessing. Dave Spangler preached. There was an impromptu business meeting of sorts after the Bible study to discuss how to best distribute supplies entrusted to the church.  We were not able to see the worst of the disaster because of only being there for just under 24 hours and not having traveled to the areas most affected. Also two weeks had already passed, and the Dominican government seems to be working hard in coordinating cleanup efforts. We heard and saw pictures of a village nearby that was cut off because of ruined bridges on the only road to and from the village that were impassable. Supplies were being delivered across the river to the villagers through a rope and pulley system….Missionary Mike Coupe is staying in our home for a few days while he takes care of some business in Puerto Rico and prepares to fly some supplies back to Dominica in the aircraft which Missionary Dave Spangler is leaving in his care.  Please continue to pray for the people of Dominica both for their physical well-being as they recover from the flooding from Tropical Storm Erika and for their spiritual condition as well.  Missionary Calvin George”

Nepal Blessing

Dear Friends,

This is an update summary of Pastor Athem’s work in Nepal.  Pastor Athem is a wonderful servant of the Lord laboring with Jim Starr and Vision 2020 in India.  Please pray for him as he continues his labors for the Lord in a very difficult area of the world.

As you read his update, please thank God for all that was accomplished in Nepal relief work.

“Nepal Earthquake: With the financial helps from ORH and Vision2020Asia, we were able to help as many as 520 families by providing iron roofing sheets, rice, cooking utensils, blankets, first aids medicines, many other food items, etc. We were also able to build three churches in the villages of Sanonepane, Dhadhing and Kaileshware. Athem preached the Gospel to earthquake victims of Hindus and Buddhist people in Nepal.

BSE (Baptist School of Evangelism): We were able to train Mr. Raharman Tamang from Nepal in May & June 2015 for future leadership in Sanusirubari village where we planted a church and also constructed a church building.”

Missionary to Nepal in Kathmandu, James Tamang, sent us wonderful pictures of the work which he did to help the school children with the money sent by Peoples’ Baptist Church, Fredrick, Maryland, Pastor Kent Ramler.

The VBS children raised approximately $2200 for the children of Nepal.  The PDF will show you the children and the work of James Tamang.

“Thank you for your faithful support and your prayer which we receive regularly.  We really appreciate your hard work and we would like to thank you very much.  As much as I wanted to take our children to distribute these bags to the students in village, I was not able to do so because the children were in school.  Today my assistant and I went to the village and distributed bags and they were very excited.  We were able to put pencil, eraser, sharpener, and note copy.  We were also able to give a pack of cookies to these children.  There were nursery to 5th grade students with only five rooms.  Few rooms were sharing a room.  It kind of reminded me of one room house which I had heard about.  Thank you again.  Hope these pictures works for you.  Through Christ alone,  James  & Holly Tamang”

Pastor Tamang was also able to provide school supplies for the children in his children’s home also with some of the donation.

Myanmar Blessings

Dear Friends,

This is a message from Dr. David Sum and missionary Ron White.  Dr. Sum and Ron White have worked together in Myanmar for many years.  Ron White helped Dr. Sum’s work by establishing a Bible college to train the young men and women of Myanmar in the ministry of the Gospel.

“Dear Jan Milton and Dr. White,  Pray that you are well.  As the need was urgent we could not wait the fund but hoping that it would be reaching us soon, on Saturday (12th September) we went to Tran Pin Gone village. This area is one of the worst flooded areas. It is more than 160 miles away from Yangon. As it is rural area the road is so bad. We started at 3:00am and arrived the village at 10:30am and arrived back to Yangon at 10:30pm.

This village is a big village. There are 500 houses and 70 families are liberal Baptist Christian and the rest are Buddhists. When the government helped recently this village the Christians didn’t get the help. As they requested us we helped this time the Christian families only.

We helped 70 bags of rice, 70 dozens of exercise books, 20 dozens of ballpoint pens, 50 Burmese Bibles and 100 gospel booklets.

As there is no road inside the village we parked our truck at the edge of the village and unloaded the rice bags there. And we went on foot for half an hour to the church. We distributed the exercise books and ballpoint pens to the school children, the gospel booklets to each family. We shared the gospel to them and how the help came from and to them. Two old ladies shared their grateful heart in tears, the pastor said thank you words and then we went back to Yangon.

Note-I: When they requested us to help them one of their requests was drilling wells. But as we discussed with the local authority and the pastor they said, when there was flood almost all the well became useless. They need to dig a new one again and again. What they request now is purifying water machine. They said, if they could have the machine they will be able to use even dirty waters also. So, I am inquiring the machine and the price and how can be used in rural areas.

Note-II: Regarding school supplies, Caung Gone township schools have been flooded and some school are still closed. They are badly in need of help for the school children as well as the school….

The expenses were:

Ks. 300,000. The expenses for two people who went two days ahead to the nearest town called Hin Tharah to prepare rice bags, truck hire.

Rice                                  70 bags x 32000=    2,240,000.

Exercise books            70 dozens x 4200=     294,000

Ballpoint pens               20 doz x 3600 =            72,000

Food & drinks                                                       94,500

Fuel                                                                         73,000

Truck rent                                                           154,000 (one

rice bag transport fare 2200Ks)

                                   Total                               3,227,500Ks.

Myanmar, Dominica, Saipan Updates

Myanmar – Dr. David Sum and Ron White

Please see the most recent report from Dr. Sum in Myanmar (Burma).  He is working to help entire villages with relief and the gospel.  Please pray for him, his college students, and his church people.  They are always in danger because people are roaming without food.  Dr. Sum works with Ron White constantly as Pastor White and he work with the college started through missionary Ron White.

“Dear Brother Jan Milton and Dr. White,  Thank you very much for your great support for our needy flood victims.  Regarding the well, according to the well driller it cannot be drilled until the end of October because of the mud and the water. The driller will be coming from town and they need to bring their tools and driller machine. So, until November there will not be proper transportation to those areas. The well driller said, one completed well will cost $1200 to $2000, it will depend on the deep of the well.  Below is how the relief fund was used.

From Jan Milton we received $3000 x 1260=3,780,000Ks.

Myanmar – Dr. David Sum and Ron White

Dr. David Sum wrote ORH the following report.

“Dear Brother Jan Milton,   Thank you very much for your help for the flood victims.  This time we went to help 246 families of three villages in Delta area. It was around 6 hours journey from Yangon. We started from 2:00am in the morning. We came back Yangon at 6:00pm on the same day.  This time we tried to meet their most needful thing as cooking oil and rice for them.  In the village there is no more water flooded but it is full of mud that makes very difficult to go here and there.  Their greatest need according to them is well. Because they don’t have now clean water. They depend on rain but as most of them are living under thatch and bamboo houses they can’t get enough water from rain.   And also when there is no rain they don’t have water. To supply water from Yangon is almost impossible. Their most request is digging well for them. This is needful even at other villages also where there have been flooded.  So, please pray with us for these special needs.  There are many other villages which have been flooded whole villages also. God willing, we are planning to reach them. I do appreciate your earnest prayers.  Many thanks, David”

Missionary Ron White who works with Dr. Sum wrote the following.

“Thank you for the work you are doing, and thank you for the pictures.  It is good to know that you are giving the gospel to those who are suffering.”

ORH is sending $2000.00 more for the work of Dr. Sum.  This is a time ripe for reaching people who normally would not be open to God’s Word.

Myanmar – Pastor John Cung and Benjamin Bounds

 

The information below came to us through Benjamin Bounds, Faith International Partnership.

This a communication from Pastor John Cung.  Read it with your heart because you will understand the needs so much better.

“I will send you transportation receiet and some picture.  Attactment could not go to you. I am very very busy to help our missionary Van hre lian family and his menber, some buddist poeple to help them and preach them. Van hre lian lost everything by the flood , house , pig, checken , rice his cow.”

The loss of these items by the brother is enormous because of what it will take to replace the loss.  Brother Bounds continues with this communication.

“Dear Bro. Milton, ORHUS and other Donors,  Attached are several precious pictures of the plight of the Chin State, Myanmar Flood Victims and John Buai Cung, Faith International Partner's National Director in Myanmar, delivering bags of rice, clothing and cooking oil to them. All of these people are under the ministry and/or Gospel Outreach of our FIP supported Missionary Van Hre Lian and another Lady Christian Worker Noami in these immediate village areas. There are also several pictures of John sharing the gospel with some of the Buddhist prospects to whom he has given flood relief items. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will convince these Buddhist prospects of the truth of the gospel and will give them the repentance and faith to receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior through your generous expression of genuine Christian love to them via your gifts.   John's receipts are for purchases and transportation costs are also attached. With so many roads and bridges out, a fee must also be charged for hand-carrying these 50 kg (apx. 105 lbs.) sackes of rice, etc. across make-shift temporary bamboo bridges. As always, 100% of your designation funds are sent for their intended purposes.  Your comments and questions concerning further clarity and explanation are always welcome. ORH hopes to send $2000.00 more to help Brother Bounds and Pastor Cung with the work.  The effort to give the gospel will continue long after the relief work is done.

 

Dominica – Dave Spangler AIR HOPE

Dave Spangler will be leading an effort to help the people of Dominica struck by Erica, through several missionaries working in the Caribbean.  Please pray for air safety as once again ORH puts Air Hope coalition planes in the air carrying relief and the gospel to hopefully hundreds of people.

Dave is in touch with missionary pilot Mike Coupe who is on the Island of Dominica.

“I just spoke with Mike Coupe on his cell - they have been devastated to include losing his airplane. The airport is destroyed at this time by the river. They have food and water but are cut off from everything and in a state of emergency. Many dead bodies to deal with and trying air lift efforts by helo.”

He has also contacted Johnny Daniel’s in Puerto Rico whose Bible College has pastors on the Island in need.  These men can become great resources to help the whole population of Dominica.  Mission Pilot Calvin George in Puerto Rico has also offered his services to Dave and AIR HOPE.

ORH has committed $1000.00 for air costs and $1000.00 for relief supplies.  Gospel Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL is sending an offering to help missionary Mike Coupe.

Dave Spangler hopes to deliver the supplies by the end of the weekend for the missionary, his church, and community.  The delay is the airports on Dominica.  Reportedly both have damage, we believe one may be open, but a long drive for Mike Coupe because of the damage done by the storm.
