Peru Follow-up Manu Region

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

Dear Friends,

Operation Renewed Hope conducted an evangelistic medical clinic in Patria / Pillcopata region of the Manu jungle area of Peru 2 years ago.  In the 4 days of clinic, 1385 patients were treated and many came to Christ.  Since that clinic, Operation Renewed Hope has been sending money to missionary Buddy Fitzgerald to help finance the follow-up work in the Patria / Pillcopata region through Alex and Flor Herrera.  Alex and Flor conducted the evangelism during the clinic.

Buddy sent ORH their most recent report about the continued work to follow-up the clinic.  Please, read this understanding that they only speak Spanish.

“May repo
Dear brothers. Greetings from Pillcopata-Peru; and that the grace of God and the love of our Lord be with each of you. I am pleased to address you through this letter, to inform them (you) how God is glorified in this region of Peru. First we want to thank you for your prayers, because they help and encourage us to continue working in God's work and also help us to grow as a family. This month dear brothers has been a month of many tests for both my family and brothers; but thank God my wife is much better in her pregnancy, of course that has limited him (her) to perform some activities for the benefit of the church, we also had the crash of the daughter of our brothers Ruben and Elizabeth; which the child of 1 year and 6 months his face burned, and now she is recovering. We are also going through a case of restoration, as a brother has committed a public sin, and we are trying to arrange his life brother and his relationship with God; dear brothers so ask your prayers; the brother's name is John.

Report of Activity
Services – 5; Children’s Meetings – 5; Brochures (tracts) Distributed – 92; Evangelized with Gospel – 29; Home Worship – 4 services; Brothers Advised – 10; Brothers Visited – 21; People Advised – 6; Converted – 1

Dear brothers, despite all the evidence of this month, the church of God goes ahead; and this makes us also understand that the enemy is not happy with what God is doing in this region. Dear brothers once again ask your prayers for God to provide me with good wisdom to lead my family and brothers.

With all this I say goodbye dear brothers, thanking you for your prayers and financial support, which is a blessing to this ministry. Sincerely missionary family Herrera.”

Please pray for Alex and Flor.  They are in a difficult jungle world.  There are many people in the region without spiritual help through a Bible-believing church.  Alex and Flor are working hard holding services and building a work.

If you would like to help with their support of $300.00 per month, ORH would be grateful.  We send the follow-up money strictly by faith the it will be available.

Nepal Update and Peru Medical Team

Friday, July 17, 2015

Dear Friends,

Please read the most recent information from the work of Pastor Athem and churches in India in Nepal.  ORH hopes this is a blessing as you read of the good work.

“Dear Uncle Jan & ORH, 13/07/2015  Jai Mashi from India and Nepal.

This is a short report/update about the works done in Nepal for the recent earthquake victims. This updates are mainly the latest works which we called it PLAN =C & D. A lot have been done yet there are still lots to be done.

We just came back from Kathmandu on 11th July. Due to rain we could not go to the villages where we sent the materials for 75 houses. So far we were able to provide relief aids to 450 household and the following items have been distributed: such as, rice, cooking utensils, roofing iron sheets, blankets, medical aids, etc.

The three main areas of our works, where we are building three churches are: Nepane Sanusirubari village of Dolakha District, Keilashwore village in Dholakha District and a village in Dhanding. At the time of earthquake, there were presence of 5/6 Christian houses in each of these villages but after we brought the aids, the villagers (Hindus) are now started coming to church and we now have some problems which I called it good problems. The good problems are, there was not enough rooms/place for the people to sit and listen to the preaching of the Gospel by the local Christians. The Hindu people gave lands to local Christians to construct a house for worship. Therefore, we decided to construct a church building with iron bars and steel roofing in the areas where the Hindu leaders had donated for construction of church. The church building constructions are going on in three areas mentioned above. The building/houses are 25 feet wide and 30 feet length. We could not finish the construction last weekend and we have given the local leaders the responsibilities of overseeing the constructions and to complete in next two weeks which will be in first week of August 2015. If possible please send someone to dedicate these houses to be used for worship.

Thank you very much for your supports in prayers and finance. Uncle Jim is coordinating with the ministry called Bearing Precious Seed to send Gospel tracts and Gospel of John & Romans in next six weeks. We will be sending them to Nepal particularly too those earthquake victims and villages. So far about 20 people have come to the Lord in Nepane village. We hope and pray that the Lord will allow us to see hundreds and thousands of souls to be saved in those villages.   In His Service,   Pastor Athem K. Chothe   Siliguri, India”

Pray for these good works.  We are thankful for the fruit and the response of the people.  Pastor Athem has been faithful to help the villages, and God is working through these great efforts.

Pray about the rains.  They are serious when trying to build and get people out of the weather conditions.

We have more work on-going and will attempt to inform you soon of two church’s VBS programs working to help with the Nepalese children in the earthquake.

Please pray for our Peru Medical Team leaving on Saturday, July 18, to work with Buddy and Loren Fitzgerald in the Puerto Maldonado area of Peru.

God bless,

Jan Milton

2015 Teen Medical Boot Camp

Monday, July 6, 2015

Dear Friends,

2015 Medical Boot Camp a Success

In an effort to recruit youth for medical missions, Operation Renewed Hope conducts boot camps for young people 14 to 19 years of age.  Because our youth are in such a soft and idle condition most of the time, it is necessary to inject hardness into their lives through these boot camps.

We are so thankful that Kings Mills Baptist Church in Kings Mills, OH was willing to let their teens experience the boot camp atmosphere in preparation for the teens going to the jungle of Peru outside the town of Puerto Maldonado.  The clinic will be July 18, 2015.   Missionary Buddy Fitzgerald with his wife Loren will be hosts for this evangelistic effort.

The boot camp was held on a property which was designed for testing physical strength and development leaders, Kings Domain, just outside of Cincinnati, OH.  The camp activities offer many building opportunities for the teens.  All boot camp challenges are for building the teens spiritually, physically, and in respect for those they will help in the coming medical clinic.

Activities include camp site preparation, establishing latrines, establishing cook site fires, fire building, Dutch-oven cooking, Meals Ready to Eat preparation, and wilderness exposure to toughen the mind of the young person.  The young person is introduced to skills necessary to feed, provide sanitation, and provide housing in a difficult situation, as others have to do each day around the world.

As part of the daily schedule, physical problems are presented creating mental, spiritual, and physical challenges requiring critical thinking development.  Survival course challenges present the teen with the need to develop stamina, courage, and unity of spirit with others. Daily physical training demonstrates to the teen that he is strong and capable of achieving what is thought to be very hard as he yields to Christ.

Medical training includes Red Cross certification for first aid and CPR; Dental training for assisting a dentist; basic stitching, and Optometry training to assist the optometrist.  The teen will prepare and serve alongside medical professionals in the medical clinic.

Safety is always a deep concern for teens traveling with our medical teams.  Each day the living culture of those in difficult parts of the world are presented along with plans to relieve the safety issues arising from such life requirements.

Always, the most important development comes through spiritual training.  There is a constant message of “Your life is not yours, but it is Christ living in you.”  As the week progresses and the challenges mount this message becomes real in the hearts of the teens.  The closing “Dog Tag Presentation” service overwhelmingly requires the young person to say, “I live, yet not I, it is Christ that lives in me.”  Literally, I am dead to self and alive in Christ.

The week is full; the benefits are manifold; and the end result is an experience in some part of the world giving the gospel through a medical clinic in which the youth participate.

Churches are welcome to discuss a boot camp for their teens.

God Bless,

Jan Milton
