The impact of Hurricane Matthew is still being assessed as the water recedes. It is absolutely difficult to get into the impact areas because the water has not receded and there is still major water problems.
“This very morning at 3:00 am, the streets
in Jacmel were full of residents who were looking for transportation to go to
higher elevations for safety from a tsunami. Some will even walk most of the
day to reach the mountains. A rumor started that a tsunami is coming and people
are panicking!! There is nothing official concerning this. It’s just a rumor
spread on social media and WhatsApp, and it’s causing so much panic.
Concerning the western part of the
island—cholera has started and many have died already. The hunger and
homelessness are so pathetic. Mission for Haiti and Operation Renewed Hope have
joined together and are already helping. We will continue, depending upon funds
we are given for this tragedy
Please pray and please give. Thank you so
much!!”
God bless,
Jan Milton
