Oklahoma City Tornado - Post 4

Oklahoma City Tornado

Saturday May 25, 2013

Dear Friends,

This email just arrived from Pastor Ivan Moore. His church location is about 1/2 mile from the path of the tornado. He has found several people whom he wishes to help.

"Hi Bro. Milton, We were made aware of a pastor friend who lost everything in the tornado. They made it out with basically the clothes on their back. They lost two vehicles in the tornado, one which was a wheelchair accessible vehicle. Anyway, if there is any way we could help them I know they would appreciate it. Thank you for the help. Pastor Moore"

Please pray for these people. Pastor Moore said that people are being allowed back into the area now by the authorities He is very concerned that with people going back to their homes the area-wide needs are going to rise significantly. He said one man in his church has already spoken with people expressing need for help.

Pastor Moore said that he hoped ORH could help him with these needs in his community.

Oklahoma City Tornado Post 3

Oklahoma City Tornado

Friday May 24, 2013

Dear Friends

Please read these messages. They are great blessings.

Moore Baptist Temple, Moore, OK Pastor Sven Larson

“Bro Milton,
Here are some others that need help
I have a mother and daughter that live together and lost everything, one is on oxygen, the mother is 94. They rode out the tornado in the bathtub. They are on social security, and need help with deductibles, clothes, housing, and may not rebuild because of the difficulty involved and health.
Another family has 6 children, the children faithfully ride the bus to church. Their mom worked in the hospital when the wall fell in on her and broke her arm. Her car was blown into the hospital lobby, her home is without power.
Another family lost their trailer, they dont have much, and have financial needs. They are unsaved.
There are so many more, and I am hearing more situations daily.
Anything you do for them, I pray the Lord would use it greatly in their lives.  Sincerely, Sven Larson Moore Baptist Temple”

Pastor Larson wrote this note to explain further his work with the people in the disaster zone.

“I talked to a family tonight who lost their home and possessions and car, and they had no homeowners insurance. They have 2 children. He works at Lowes, she makes $250 a week. I gave them $400 and she cried because her daughters graduation dress and shoes were blown away and now she get her a new grad dress.”

On Tuesday of next week, ORH hopes to send money to help this brother.

Suburban Baptist Church, Moore, OK, Pastor Ron Lindsey

"Dear Bro Jan Milton,
Thank you for your kindness. We are requesting $10,000.00 to help our church families who were devastated during the tornado.
Our update is now that seven families lost their homes. The one couple that was unaccounted for has been found and they are safe, praise the Lord. We are also setting up a relief center and a feeding center at our church. We have all of the volunteers that we need at this present time.
If you can help, please send your donation by check through regular mail,  Pastor Ron Lindsey”

Operation Renewed Hope has sent the initial check of $3000.00 to Pastor Lindsey. We are thankful that the family that had not been found has been discovered and is safe.

Beth Haven Baptist Church, OKC, OK Pastor Rick Carter.

“Hello Jan
Pastor wanted me to email you and thank you for what you have done already. We use the money that you gave for gloves, trash bags, mask. We are in a desperate need for a large order of Ice and he said anything that you could send would be greatly appreciated.
            Thank you so much”

Operation Renewed Hope has sent initially $1500.00 to this church. Yesterday, we sent another $1000.00. Pray that all will go well for Pastor Carter and his church as they give out the needed items to hundreds of people in the disaster zone.

Pray for these churches that are ministering to the needs of those in the communities with no expectations of return. They are truly demonstrating the compassion and love of Christ to their community. They are establishing disaster centers for people to which people in the public may come to get the help they need. The greatness of this is that when all the relief agencies are gone these men and churches will still be there to help.

If you wish to donate by check, please, send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, PO Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309. Mark the check for "Domestic Relief."

Oklahoma City Tornado Post 2

Oklahoma, City Tornado

May 23, 2013

Dear Friends,

I received this last night from Pastor Lindsey of Suburban Baptist Church, OKC, OK. Please read this and pray.

"Currently, as of 30 minutes ago we have six families that have had their homes totally destroyed, most have insurance, but not all. Some insurance is better than others. Some are deficient on what is covered for their contents.

Three families …have not lost their homes, but have been uprooted from their homes because of damage in nearby areas and other dangers. One lady church member who runs a day care from her home, barely got the kids out in time (10 minutes before it hit) to get them to safety. Her home was destroyed and now she no longer has a job either. She was making $2,400.00 per month. I prayed with her and we asked the Lord to provide that much income for at least the next two months until she could get settled and find another home and job.

Many have lesser damages to different degrees. We are continuing to monitor that.

We have four automobiles (that I know of now) that were destroyed that were not covered by insurance, except liability only.

My greatest concern right now is for a family named Larry and Toni Stephens. They are the only family that is unaccounted for. They do not have cell phones, only land lines. Their neighborhood is still under lock down. They have had dogs in their sniffing (I presume for dead people). About 2 p.m. today there was a big gas explosion. So, I don’t know when they will let us in.

For right now, I know that we could use $10,000.00 to help with the immediate financial needs of our church family.

It may be more later.  In fact, I’m sure it will be more later, but these are some pressing needs now. We are committed to helping the household of faith first, and then, of course are trying to help our community as well. When we give, we are giving in the name of the Lord, and looking for opportunities to witness and tell people about the greatest gift of all…Jesus Christ.

We could also use some gospel tracts that focus on presenting the gospel in the midst of great tragedy (Why does God allow bad things to happen, etc).

Whatever you feel led to give will be used to glorify the Lord and lead people to Him. That’s our promise. Pastor Ron Lindsey Suburban Baptist Church"
Please pray for these good people.

Oklahoma City Post 1

Oklahoma City Tornado

Wedmesduy May 22, 2013

Dear Friends,

Pastor Kent Sager from Grace Baptist Church of Franklin Square, NY was part of the work in New York, City. His home was damaged by Hurricane "Sandy" Pastor Sager writes the following.

"May 21, 2013
Dear Bro. Milton,

I imagine you are quite busy preparing to help the dear folks in Oklahoma. It is such a tragedy they are experiencing. During our time of disaster you and ORH were there for the Sager family and the people of NYC and Long Island. We greatly appreciate all that you have done for us and the "Body of Christ."....We will also be sending you some money for the Oklahoma cause. We will take a special offering soon. May God bless you and encourage you as you serve Him and others.
Sincerely, Kent Sager"

What a wonderful blessing to hear from Pastor Sager. This is the spirit of those who realize the hardship of disaster recovery.

Pastor Rick Carter - Beth Haven Baptist Church, OKC, OK, wrote the following.
"We have set up a disaster relief center supplying food, clothing, and other disaster relief items. we need help to buy materials to purchase materials for the center. thank you for your help in this matter Bro. Rick Carter Jr."

Operation Renewed Hope has sent $1500.00 immediately to help this work. We hope to continually monitor this distribution center. We will try to use any funds that come to us to keep it open and full of needed supplies for those who lost their homes and livelihood.

Pastor Ivan Moore, Moore OK
Brother Moore has just started a church in Moore, OK. His building is less than 1/2 mile from the path of the tornados which hit the area. He and I will be speaking at 3:30 about how best to help his church reach their neighborhood. They have some families impacted by the situation. More information will be coming about how to help this brother, his church, and all his community.

Pastor Lindsey - Suburban Baptist Church, OKC, OK
This morning Pastor Lindsey is assessing the number of homes in his church that could be damaged. He will be sending a situation report, so ORH can seek help for his congregation and neighborhood.

Pastor Karsies, Harvest Hills Baptist Church, OKC, OK
This is a message from Pastor Karsies:

"I finally heard from our two church families that thought they lost everything. Both were allowed to go into their neighborhoods this afternoon. There is debris everywhere, but their homes were "untouched" for which they and all of us are so grateful. They lived a mile and a half from each other, and the tornado went between them. One of them found a page of a songbook in their backyard. The song on the page was "My Faith Still Holds." The picture Amos took of it lying on the ground should be seen on TV!!!"

Please continue to pray for these churches, pastors, and their community which in great need. We have contacted all the places which you sent in as suggestions. They are all working hard.

If you would like to donate by check, please send the check to Operation Renewed Hope, PO Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309. Mark the check for "Domestic Relief."

Message from Missionary Charles Strong - Great blessings

Message from Missionary Charles Strong

Thursday, May 8, 2013

Dear Friends,

For several years Operation Renewed Hope has been making shipments of Hospital equipment, supplies, and furniture to the border hospitals of Mexico. ORH has not only shipped to these hospitals, but we have conducted evangelistic medical clinics.

Our missionary contact, Charles Strong, has been our source of reaching hundreds with the gospel message and creating church opportunities for those who accept Christ. Brother Strong writes the following concerning the April 2013 53 ft. trailer shipment we sent to his ministry in Mexico.

"Dear Bro. Jan,
I’m writing to say many thanks for your great help to the Mexican people, who are in need of all the medical equipment and supplies you send to me; and I pass it all over to Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to an organization, called in English, Arranging Help for the Development of the Whole Family...., but this blessing doesn't stop here, as you know I'm a missionary here in Mexico and have been for 42 years, and we are in the process of building a new Church here in Rio Bravo, and last month we bought land to build the church on. We had 8 big trees and the city came and cut them down, dug up the roots. Also Mrs. Trevino (lady receiving donations from Brother Strong for the hospitals) and her husband own a big equipment company, and they said they would level the ground , fill in with dirt where needed at no cost to us, so you see, what you are doing, Brother Jan, I want to thank you so very much for what Operation Renewed Hope is doing for us here….May God richly bless you in all your work.”

Attached are two photos of a man who was badly burned and received help at the hospitals that receive our shipments. In one of shipments was an electric wheel chair. He was given this chair because of the terrible burns to his legs. The attachment is not pretty. If you are easily upset, please make sure you are prepared for what you will see. People need our help, and you can make it happen.

Pray for our continued ability to ship. Because of the in-country movement from North Carolina to Mexico, we had to pay for the trucking. We have more equipment and supplies, but we do not have the money to ship it at this time.

We have been given a Siemens X-ray machine in Missouri, but we cannot ship it to Brother Strong because we have exhausted our shipping funds. Pray we can move this equipment to help Brother Strong’s ministry.

If you would like to help us with the next shipment to Mexico please send a donation to Operation Renewed Hope, PO Box 43242, Fayetteville, NC 28309.

You can use a credit card by going to our web site, www.operationrenewedhope.org, and choose Network for Good.

Please pray for Operation Renewed Hope.

Jan Milton
