Dear Friends,
This is a message from Dr. David Sum and missionary Ron
White. Dr. Sum and Ron White have worked together in Myanmar for many
years. Ron White helped Dr. Sum’s work by establishing a Bible college to
train the young men and women of Myanmar in the ministry of the Gospel.
“Dear Jan Milton and Dr. White, Pray that you are
well. As the need was urgent we could not wait the fund but hoping that
it would be reaching us soon, on Saturday (12th September) we went to Tran Pin
Gone village. This area is one of the worst flooded areas. It is more than 160
miles away from Yangon. As it is rural area the road is so bad. We started at
3:00am and arrived the village at 10:30am and arrived back to Yangon at
10:30pm.
This village is a big village. There are 500 houses and
70 families are liberal Baptist Christian and the rest are Buddhists. When the
government helped recently this village the Christians didn’t get the help. As
they requested us we helped this time the Christian families only.
We helped 70 bags of rice, 70 dozens of exercise books,
20 dozens of ballpoint pens, 50 Burmese Bibles and 100 gospel booklets.
As there is no road inside the village we parked our
truck at the edge of the village and unloaded the rice bags there. And we went
on foot for half an hour to the church. We distributed the exercise books and
ballpoint pens to the school children, the gospel booklets to each family. We
shared the gospel to them and how the help came from and to them. Two old ladies
shared their grateful heart in tears, the pastor said thank you words and then
we went back to Yangon.
Note-I: When they requested us to help them one of their
requests was drilling wells. But as we discussed with the local authority and
the pastor they said, when there was flood almost all the well became useless.
They need to dig a new one again and again. What they request now is purifying
water machine. They said, if they could have the machine they will be able to
use even dirty waters also. So, I am inquiring the machine and the price and
how can be used in rural areas.
Note-II: Regarding school supplies, Caung Gone township
schools have been flooded and some school are still closed. They are badly in
need of help for the school children as well as the school….
The expenses were:
Ks. 300,000. The expenses for two people who went two
days ahead to the nearest town called Hin Tharah to prepare rice bags, truck
hire.

the fourth time that we have done relief work this time. Every time we spent
